Missed the game, was at my 2nd T20 in three days at Old Trafford.
Caught the last ten minutes on my phone on tram home. Sounds like you should be buying John Moss a drink tonight. ;)

Great to see Forest promoted, one Yorkshire team in the Premiership is already one to many.

Who cares what that muppet thinks.
Badmouthing referees always happens, esp from losers.
Forest have had to endure terrible decisions this season, today things went in our favour.

Forest won, thats all the record books will show, and all that counts.

Something has changed at football grounds I think. Same with England back in the Euro 2020 final last year. I suspect it's an increasing use of cocaine amongst supporters.

I suspect its a rebound from lockdown. After paying for tickets, fans can't afford cocaine. (seem to be able to afford flares though, those could be banned from sale).

I had a quick look and from what I can see you need a licence for specific waterway but in general I think you can pretty much jump in a boat and sail off. So nothing like a car licence that you would necessarily need to show in a maritime shop.

Clearly the law needs tightening up and quickly before someone is killed. Some will say football clubs should do more but I'm at a loss to what short of searching every single fan that enters a football ground!

I have travelled away extensively over the last few seasons. Some clubs actively employ sniffer dogs ( certainly for away fans ) looking for pyrotechnics* - Leeds, Man City, Brighton, West Ham, Spurs to name a few. There's enough money swilling around the Premiership to make that mandatory at all Premier grounds.

*Possibly drugs as well.

Okay that's good. Something I didn't know. I agree no reason why all clubs,Premier League especially, can't do the same.

It's more not giving a toss. Guess they'd rather be on their hols and preparing for more important things like the Premiership/next contract negotiations.

Still can't understand the point of the Nations League.

England showed Hungary no respect at all.

The weakest line up for a competitive match I have ever seen, facile political gestures to provoke the home nation and a complete lack of effort anywhere on the pitch.

I don't think it was a weak line up,not the strongest I agree,it was just the lack of commitment from the players that disappointed me. As for the facile political gestures to provoke the home nation,I presume you're referring to taking the knee? I don't agree with it either but as England national team do it before every match I see no reason why they should of not done it just to please a bunch of racists. What disturbed me most was the majority of the crowd were kids!

Kids under 14 who could be accompanied by adults.

So take your school aged kid to go to a behind closed doors match and boo the anti-racism gesture.

Personally, I think taking the knee before the match has lost any symbolism it had, and perhaps needs to be canned for the new season, but I guess that's not the reason there - after all the match was behind closed doors to begin with because of racism, and so it is probably a protest gesture against that as well as their initial racism.

Unless there's some sort of NF type movement for Hungarian preteens, I don't think the kids would be booing of their own volition, maybe doing it because everyone else is...

True and I'm not saying it's right. Taking the knee should be dropped as it lost its effect long ago. Racism isn't just a football problem and I don't think society will ever rid itself of it. Not much gets said about black people being racist to white people oddly enough but it does go on. For me I don't care whether your black, white, green or orange so long as you don't support Sunderland or Newcastle! Only joking guys!

Good on them to boo it, its time this stupid, pointless, political jesture was killed off.
The annoying part was how much the C4 pundits went on about it, as if it were more important than the match.

As to England, they clearly forgot to turn up, the performance was as embarassing as the pundits.

It was a great game to watch, constant ebb and flow, the result in doubt until the last hour, England won, what’s not to like.

As for taking the knee I still cannot fathom the reasoning behind this now pointless gesture. Surely kneeling down is a sign of subservience which is completely at odds with the aims of its instigators.

In other news Wales have qualified for the World Cup. First time since 1958. Fancy their chances against England, however USA and Iran will be trickier.

Seem to remember it happened for the Cricket World Cup final when England won. Sky shared the coverage of the game with C4.
Wonderful loss leading advertising for them with viewing figures far exceeding what they usually get.

Don't the Germans have a cracking national anthem ? Nearly as good as the Welsh one. The French and Italians have it sorted too.
Why is England's so crap? Should be Jerusalem or Land of Hope and Glory.

Ironically the Austria hymn tune the Germans use as their national anthem is an adaptation by Haydn of a Croatian folk tune.

It's a common hymn tune over here, so much that during the war, the BBC commissioned another tune to be used instead by a contemporary composer so that the hymn could be sung without the connotations of it also being the German national anthem.

No-one knows who wrote GSTK/Q, either lyrics or the tune; at one point it was thought that the tune was Thomas Arne's (similar to Rule Britannia) but some now think (ironically, as he was also of German extraction) that it was actually by Handel (controls over attribution were lax and there was ofc no copyright in those days). What I find offputting about it (even as an agnostic who works in church music) is that the focus of it isn't on the monarch, not at least in the first verse (there are 2 or 3 in most editions but originally loads more), but actually on God, which fits less well in the more secular/multi-faith society we are in now. I do like the idea of Jerusalem. It's a cracking tune by Parry (as is the Elgar Pomp & Circumstance march 1) but I don't think Blake was entirely being serious or devotional when writing the poem, which may make it seem jingoistic but in reality perhaps not.

So who really knows. I guess the reason why we're still using it is that no-one really likes (universally) the other main alternatives.

TBF all the top sides have players who have had a long hard season....;)

The manager is clueless as demonstrated by bringing maguire on in the 4-0 loss to Hungary.

He needs to spend more time managing the team and less time trying to be politically correct....
