From November 21st.

Confirmed: Virgin Media UK to axe Sky Movies HD and Sky Sports HD on some boxes

That the only info we have seen.

What does "confirmed" mean? Does that mean that VM has confirmed it?

It has been confirmed it will happen.

We seen info in November that it was set to happen this month.

We have not been told any date on when it will happen by our Virgin Media sources.

Watch is to have a radical overhaul, including taking over the EastEnders repeat from BBC3 (the omnibus edition will also return).

Didn't someone earlier say that certain UKTV channels would be beefed up as UKTV 'premium' channels with more going FTA?

I wonder if this news adds any credibility to these claims?

Well that's true.. I'm just starting to create a YouTube playlist of all the stuff that's now gone from MoD but missing from Vevo. So much for an improved service.

It's also something else that's gone from the list of "XL gives you more than L". The list is still long enough to justify the extra spend for me, but it's certainly shorter than it was.

True, but there is a not insignificant chunk of people that use TiVo that wouldn't know the first thing about streaming sticks or Smart TVs.

Having YouTube, Vevo and Spotify (and Netflix) available via TiVo gives an understandable route into those services.

They can show re runs of EastEnders all day as far as l am concerned - don't watch it. I stopped watching it in the days of Leslie Grantham.
Its like when the soap awards are on. You can near enough say who will win it.
One year it will be EastEnders, then the following year it will be Corrie.

There re much better soaps on then these two

So something that license payers were funding that was shown on a license payer funded channel is now moving to a premium channel?
This will please the license fee haters.

with this new tivo box coming in 2016 do we just attempt to break our current ones to get the new box or are they automatically replaced...

I think to start there will be £99 plus engineer visit fee then over time it will gradually become free as part of self install.

With Sky's launch date still to be confirmed, the gap between the two offerings will not be for a long time. Heck, not impossible for VM to launch its new Tivo before Sky IQ.

They're going to need something that combines the technology of the Bolt and the forthcoming updated Roamio to equal or beat Sky Q.

The RTE ones are yes, due to rights issues mainly, but VM may buy the rights for the UK too (RTE couldn't afford to).

Had never heard of Ziggo Sport before, perhaps an English language version will be created to form the new Irish Sports channel??

I do think it's odd that the primary target of these new channels will be Southern Ireland.

Why not give the channels more chance of success (particularly as the genres are already covered in Ireland) by covering the UK and having an Irish version like some channels already do.

If this rumour is true what will it Show?

I mean Sky Sports, BT Sport, Setanta Sports and Eurosport all broadcast in Southern Ireland.

Also why we not get RT when it did launch in November on Virgin Media Ireland?

If Virgin Media was signing deals for both Virgin Media UK and Southern Ireland.

They may be experimenting in Ireland before expanding into bigger markets and making mistakes on a smaller scale and out of the eye of the UK media. I'm still unsure about the logic of buying TV3 but they've obviously thought it through.
Ziggo Sport is just a rebrand of UPC's Sport 1 channel. VM have said they won't acquire UK sports rights as the market is too crowded. In the Netherlands, Ziggo is the market leader and has copied BT by providing a free sports channel to subscribers with the option of a premium channel on top.

One who's been surveyed yes , to be honest I never watch the movies on the linear channels so a pop up channel is wasted on me that said they do generally group the movies together in a folder within Sky Movies On Demand.

Its like when the soap awards are on. You can near enough say who will win it.
One year it will be EastEnders, then the following year it will be Corrie.

There re much better soaps on then these two

Yep I prefer River City, it's a good well worth watching which never wins any soap awards. Everyone in UK can watch it on the Iplayer....
