Not sure if this is CVC trying to push up the price but its not a done deal yet apparently.

"But CVC is also understood to still be negotiating with RSE Ventures, an investment firm run by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, who is working in tandem with a Qatari consortium, and another as yet unnamed private equity firm."

So it looks like Nico has been gifted the drivers title, after Lewis suffers yet another engine failure.

8 cars use Mercedes engines, yet Lewis is the only one to have issues.

Re: 2016 Formula 1 Season Thread

A championship win for Rosberg will benefit both in the long run. If he's sat in Hamilton's shadow for too long he'll only get more frustrated and cause a breakdown between both that we've seen stir in the past.

Bad season for Hamilton but again it should have some benefits in the long term if they're both carrying World Champion status.

Hopefully Nico will bottle it again.

Or take his turn in engine problems.

If he needs a new engine does that mean a grid penalty?

Re: 2016 Formula 1 Season Thread

They banked some new engines when they took a huge bundle of penalties (reckon they might change the rules to prevent that, such as carrying over for one race), but it was a new engine that blew ... maybe they should have kept the tried and tested one!!!!

Hamilton's mind is gone. Its just mushed. He's been a disaster this entire weekend. Dropped to 8th right off the bat. Calling it a night, Bisping won, that'll do me.

Mercedes are the second to give Verstappen a gobful, albiet withdrawing their complaint as the FIA refuse to deal with it till Austin. Kimi had the same complaint not so long ago. His blocking is ridiculous at times. :erm:

Hamilton apparently had no idea about the complaint and had a 'stuff happens' approach and wasn't interested in complaining. Showing he wasn't even on the same page as Mercedes. Something is going on behind scenes here, this entire weekend was a disaster on and off the track.

Lewis wins.

Max outbraked himself and left the track and came back on in front of Seb, he should have let Seb past but didn't.

Seb was furious, and the beep machine melted, Seb even queried why he was punished.

He even gave a message to Charlie which was BEEP off.

After the race Max was given a 5 second penalty giving Seb 3rd.

Max had to pit to replace inters with full wets which dropped him to 16th.

Down to the wire, but realistically, Rosberg just needs to avoid gremlins, foulups and other bad luck, not likely to be off the podium if still running, could probably even get away with coming back from a puncture.

Rosberg has bursts of form at times but overall he strikes me as such a mediocre driver. Its harsh to say but without Hamilton's DNF's he'd be finishing behind again. Comes of to me as what Webber was to RBR when Vettel was flying.

I thought that was petty from Hamilton. Trying to back his teammate into traffic. It is a team sport as well as an individual one. They weren't asking him to give the space up.

Nothing petty about handing your balls to someone? It made it interesting and about handing the title over well Lewis made him sweat for it so it wasn't exactly a giveaway even if what came before was totally different. No hard feelings IMO let it all start again next season.

Rank bad sportsmanship, mark of a sore and petty loser. Glad he lost. Would have been funny to see him really slow down and then Rosberg do a Senna and smash into him taking them both out.

As for the others here saying he was gifted it, that applies to all of Hamilton's titles as well, every year there are mechanical failures for all drivers.

Get over it, this year the better more consistent driver won.

It was bad sportsmanship for Nico to go crying to the team.

If he's so good overtake, but he can't beat Lewis in a fault free car.

The most unworth World Champion in its history.

No way was he going to try and overtake. Hamilton would have done everything he could short of getting disqualified to force him off the track. Nico didn't go crying to the team.

In a secret vote bosses are asked to vote for their best driver of the season, and they are scored using the current points system.

Lewis came first with 234 point out of 275, Max was second Nico R third.

That is very telling and a few surprises.
