So much for 24/7 activation which is automated.

My power levels went from -1 to -3 which is still fine i hope, the hub will likely reboot a few times if you have just installed it to get the latest firmware.

You also may have got your free speed boost if you were on a lower package like many people did.

I didn't get in on the trial either, always the way for me. Hoping there's still a chance but doesn't look likely.

My brother just had virgin broadband installed and he got the SuperHub 2AC. So i guess new customers are getting them already.

Ahem, I'll have to retract this statement
But I can't talk about it ...... ;)

Will just ask the people getting them as part of standard installs how things are going.

Some things change, the ntl love for secrecy which is part of VM not being one of them.

Pretty funny and absurd in this case.

Re: Superhub 3 with 802.11ac?

that sounds like backwards logic to me and surely it can't be true. I know VM like to push stuff out to keep up with the PR and competition but how can you release hardware to your customers when it hasn't been trialled yet? Does anyone know if it has got modem mode?

You talk as if the trials of the past have made a single ounce of difference to the final release. Look at the SH1, everything that was wrong with it was posted about and it still got released after the "successful" trial.

It's as though Virgin are just admitting that the trial is practically worthless.

It is a Superhub 2 with a different wireless chip set. That is about it. It has modem mode, however it is a total waste of time getting one to put it in modem mode if you have an SH 2 already and probably the same applies for an SH 1 too.

oh, I thought shub3 had 16 ds channels. I might be getting confused with the modem they are going to use when they crack on with docsis3.1

There are no DOCSIS 3.1 modems in production just test equipment, and DOCSIS 3.1 does away with channels.

Pretty sure the SH3 does have 16 Channels? But this isn't the SH3.

well spotted. I wondered what you was going on about for a sec but then I scrolled to the top of the page and saw shub2ac

Re: Superhub 3 with 802.11ac?

Instead of talking in riddles, anyone care to explain what is going on? From what I gather it is the following:
  1. There is a new SHUB 2 with AC, purely a wireless chipset upgrade only.
  2. There is a SHUB 3 with new cpu, tech which is the one being giving to trialists.
  3. Something else

Just 1, no 2.

Right. A new piece of kit needs to be WiFi certified.

A 16 channel modem would be restricted to a geographic area as to test it properly needs network changes as well.

Just enjoy people making out like they just started working for GCHQ. ;)

So this article, which you yourself quoted earlier in this thread is wrong then?

http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php...nd-router.html

And there already is a new, WiFi certified piece of kit matching the above description:

http://certifications.prod.wi-fi.org...d?cid=WFA51501

It's really not hard to see how people could be confused.

Re: Superhub 3 with 802.11ac?

Having massively varied results, according to ookla, from 9-94mbps so far. However this is from a fresh installation of >152mbps this afternoon. Via ethernet has been 19 max all day, and wireless devices top out at 98! Have been told to give it 24 hours to settle, but since realising the desktop is fast ethernet, I doubt I will see over 100 anyway. So I am debating installing a Wi-fi pci card or upgrade to gigabit?

Gigabit will be superior to wireless in every way. And no, of course you wont see over 100 on a 100Mbps card. It's not like the 100Mbps is a "suggested speed limit".

that's nice of them. I would have expected them to tell you to wait for the new shub because they can't be bothered to keep registering new shub's on the network for the sake of a couple of days.

Well you were lucky the Referendum didn't go the other way then! ;)
Not that you would have anything to beef about, as my pet Angus tells me the Scots are not known for any good taste in their choice of oratory partners anyway? I mean fancy having a fish blowing bubbles for a politician! :dunce:

I did ask her what she voted for and she said Independence and her friend voted No.
