My God England look turgid and bereft of any real flair. I really wonder why people still pay to watch these guys play the same old rubbish. It's like they're frightened to keep the ball just in case they have to do something incisive and meaningful with it.

I reckon hes massively ****ed off he didn't get the United job like Fergie promised him, any chance to have a pop at United he will take it. Very different to February/March when we played Madrid.
|
Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
Was he promised it? I find that hard to believe.
|
Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
Promised is probably the wrong word, he was very much led on by Fergie to believe he would get it.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
Fergie respected him as a manager but that was it in my opinion. Are you getting this info from Fergies comments or has word been spread by someone, a source at Utd.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
It comes from a lot of ITK's at Utd. David Gill wanted Mourinho but the rest of the board were against it because of the instability so went with Moyes, also because Gill didn't really have a say in it anyway. Fergie led Mourinho to believe that he was the front runner when they last met but it turns out he recommended both Mourinho and Moyes to the board, who obviously went for Moyes because of the issues with Mourinho. Theres rumours that Mourinhos representatives contacted Utd when Fergie announced his retirement and that Utd told them they weren't interested. I don't know how true that is but the rest is correct.

I don't think so, the majority of the board wanted Moyes, there were a few who wanted Mourinho and Gill was one of them. Obviously if he was staying he would have pushed harder and listened to more but i think it would have still been Moyes. It wasn't a unanimous decision like the club said. It was quite clear to see that Mourinho had his heart set on the Utd job, he wouldn't have made that so apparent if he didn't have something to go on. Watch this season, it won't be all lovey lovey between Mourinho and United/Fergie like it was in the past and its not because Fergie has retired. |

I don't know exactly why Gill left, just a change of jobs as far as i'm aware. I'm not sure he knew Fergie was going to retire when he decided to step down. Ed Woodward is taking over from Gill, he was the executive vice-chairman. |

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
David Dein on SSN
Arsene has waved his magic wand again by grabbing CL, it is an achievement but its not enough for many many fans, analysis of the season will highlight Arsenal were 16 points behind Utd. Arsenal had the second best defense in the league  Asked of the fans calls for him to come back he answered thats hes literally at every home game ;) when pressed he said of course, everyone knows I love Arsenal. Dein was then asked of Usmanov. He says its bizarre that someone with such a vast amount of shares in the club to not be on the board. On Arsene strengthening. Wenger wants to strengthen and will but the environment is very competitive. Patrick Vieira was chased by Real Madrid every window and Dein had to call Patrick to ask where he was going on his summer holiday so he could join him making sure no Real Madrid seniors get to him. Dein use to go to the African Cup Of Nations and hardly anyone was there but now its a completely different story. Arsenal scouts all over the world are looking for talent to add to the squad. On England. The quality coming through needs to be better, simple as that. |
