I actually wanted a bloody TV too. I play on monitors btw. I have a projector but it looks crap.
Instead I've went and spent the above on all this stuff! I must note I'm in a position where I pay no bills or have any monthly outgoings so I generally get to keep 100% of my wage. House is paid for etc.

He he, my 40in sony TV still looks OK but when I was at Eurogamer other TVs looked so much better so I am waiting for my TV to die which should be soon I hope.

I find it awkward playing on bigger tvs. Although I usually sit about a ft away from the screens I have so easily explained. I remember Xbox released a VGA cable for use with the first gen 360. Can't remember if Sony ever did.

Just read that a red line appearing on your console means it's overheating. People are reporting consoles that have done it after 5 minutes. Are they having a laugh though? they expect the console to overheat? Someone said an on board psu was a bad idea....

I have no doubt there will be hardware failures on day one for xbox one , it's just how many , the ps4 failure rate seems quite bad but it's difficult to judge because people don't report that their consoles working they're too busy playing it !! , I'm a little concerned that xbl may be overloaded on day one forcing me to buy disc based media !!!

I share your worries, i bought the disk based BF4 this gives me something to play incase i can't download the free Forza and Killer instinct as well as Assassins Creed 4 when i find out how much digital versions cost as i would like to get that digital.

Why don't you buy 1 game on disk to tide yourself over incase of xbl disruption, you don't have to open the game so if you're able to download ok you can then return it to the shop for a refund? :)

Played on a PS4 again today. Really love the controller but still launch line up leaves a lot to be desired.

Demo units only have playable demos of Fifa 14, Knack, a demo of Playroom and trailers of the other games and videos about the systems and controller.

Killzone demo would have been bettter!

Just browsing around the net alot of posts are coming up saying their PS4 has died too and not all from amazon.

I read somewhere that Amazon have processed over 1000 returns so far.

Not a good launch for Sony at all.

Rumours are flying around Sony have asked Amazon to stop selling the ps4 and Sony have stopped production until the faulty units have been examined, not sure how much truth there is just beware and possibly take with a pinch of salt until something official appears.

Have a look at the amazon reviews, ~1000 have given it 5 stars but ~500 have given it 1 star with comments about it either being DOA or dies soon after.

30% is a massive amount.

Possibly but the issues seem to be pretty widespread, there are the same complaints all over the net atm.

I imagine it'll end up being a small percentage that are DOA and just those that are being vocal but it's not a good start for Sony.

Amazon reviews are generally a load of crap, much like user reviews on Metacritic.

Where are you getting 30% from?


Also, people who are angry or disappointed with a purchase are always more vocal online than those who are happy and satisfied and just getting on with using it.

I need a Sony fanboy urgently! I'll be getting PSN plus when I get the PS4. I was just thinking now though can I download all the free games for my PS3 or are those offers gone? Secondly it'd be a massive help if you cleared the following up.

I'm finally looking to play the uncharted series, TLOU, GT5 and little big planet. Could someone tell me which I'd need to purchase because I've heard some are free with PS Plus?

Yes but the games are a lot better and a lot to download. Also if you stop your PS plus you lose the games.

I feel like I've missed an entire generation though, I've detailed somewhere about me buying the PS3 for the Getaway 3 then never playing it again. I traded the old one in towards a new blue console and never played that either. Today we change!

Mate you have to see it to believe it, GT5 isn't bad, it's shocking. I was amazed at how bad it actually is when you see 9/10 reviews.

What I liked about GT5 was the day/night races and I believe there was weather as well. I wish they'd add that to Forza. The problem with the GT series is that they go for quantity over quality. When GT5 launched only a handful of cars had cockpit view and the backgrounds of tracks looked like they were 2D.

Compared to the E3 demo looks a bit flat and lifeless to me. The lighting effects don't look as nice and the texture quality isn't as good.

That's because they were running them on suped up PC's with a GTX 780. It's the way all console games work tbh. Watch dogs is the same.

Day/Night and weather are good but you've nailed it with everything else. I was gobsmacked to be fair. I thought the game was genuinely damaged and bugging out and only found out via Google. PGR 4 did the weather thing a bit better though.

Dunno if I should laugh or cry :( Game have yet to email me to say its been dispatched.

Something very odd with today, I tried calling them only to hear an automated message saying to contact them online or to call your local store. I called 7 stores throughout the day and they were either engaged or let it ring for more then 3 minutes :confused: There web based chat system is down and I cant visit a store till Monday.

Needless to say, there Facebook page is full of.. shell we say... annoyed customers. Sounds like they missed a-lot of pre-orders.

I'll admit it was a late pre-order (5th Nov) so I don't mind waiting, that's not the issue. What I mind is the fact I had an email on Saturday asking for the outstanding balance to "secure my allocated unit" which I done, next email said I would be notified of its dispatch. It's now Friday and I have not been notified of anything, not even an estimated dispatch day.

At that point (5th Nov) the Game site was saying they would arrive for xmas so i assume it will come in next few weeks. I think the cut off date for launch date was 16th Aug

Got mine delivered on Friday from Zavvi but due to working and being out at the weekend not played it much.

Have had a shot of Fifa and Killzone and impressed from what little I did see.

PSN ID is same as my username on here if anyone has one and fancies some online gaming :)

Not the PS4 just the Ps3 in regards to download speed and account security issues if I move the console from my network to another. My old PS3 i traded in for this new god of war console without realising how pathetic the disc system is. Didn't realise it was like an old PSone but I needed the 500gb space.

Anyway I picked up my PS4 and it came in a box. Marked on the side was one direction boy's duvet set. I nearly cried. Luckily it was in there but I'm wondering why it came in packaged in a 1D box. If they were trolling it definitely worked.

Apart from Watch Dogs I don't think there's much coming out this side of Christmas, that's the problem. I've just finished AC4 and decided there's nothing else worth playing.. Killzone, FIFA, NFS, no ta not my cup of tea and Thief looks like it's going to be a borefest.

Other than that, the Order 1887 looked great in the launch trailers but the reality appears to be that it's just a linear GOW clone with a quirky theme.

He never said he won't by a PS4. He said he will once they add 3D BR support as he uses his PS3 for that, and will upgrade once added. No point.

Some people like the One as it has games that the PS4 doesn't and of course many people like my self have a lot more friends on 360 that have upgraded to the One. You already tried this slating the One in a seperate thread so no need for round two.

Got my PS4 + The Last of Us Remastered bundle yesterday :) (after Amazon Logistics *finally* delivered it after 6pm!)


Got it all set up, once Mrs D had finished watching the Commonwealth Games.

Very nice!

The UI is clean and straightforward, and I've noticed two things already that I wish my Xbox One did:

- Apps and games have update changelogs.

- Shutting down gives you the choice of a full shutdown or connected standby.


Conveniently, I can use my official Xbox One Stereo Headphones in my new DualShock 4 - no need for a separate stereo headset :)


In addition to The Last of Us, I also have Infamous Second Son.

I bought Infamous from GAMETronics when I traded in my old PS3 Slim.

They had it on the shelf for £35, "sale price".

When the guy ran it through the till, however, it came up at full price as it was apparently not in the sale anymore.

"No thanks!", I said.

So he sold me a pre-owned copy for £27.99.

I wouldn't normally buy pre-owned, but the copy he sold me was new and still sealed - it was an unopened and unwanted bundle copy that someone had traded in.

Not too impressed with the battery life of the DualShock 4.

Full charge last night (using the pathetically short cable), then some faffing around followed by a couple of hours of The Last of Us.

Bit more use this afternoon, as Mrs D was using it to control iPlayer and BBC Sport to catch up on the Commonwealth Games.

... and it's flat already :erm:


It's nearly as bad as the battery life of the Wii U's GamePad!


Still, at least it has non-crap triggers, unlike the DualShock 3.

Well, the only game I've played on it since getting it last August is The Last of Us: Remastered :erm:

If my PS3 hadn't been on its last legs, I probably wouldn't have bothered at that time just for TLOU:R.


I also have Infamous Second Son, Resogun, and Super Stardust, along with some PS+ stuff. Not touched them yet, but then again, I have a much bigger Pile of Shame for my Xbox One.


*If* there are enough exclusives that interest you, then I think it's worth it. Otherwise, best wait... for Uncharted 4.

So i have a PS4 getting delivered today, didn't think i would get one as i am happy with the Xbox One but my partners son has one and this enables us to play Plants Vs Zombies 2 with him!

Got the 1TB new model not in a bundle and with a good price(i hope) as it would have been cheaper buying the bundled game separately.

Planning on only buying Disk games on this as it is far cheaper!

A few questions.

1. Best place to buy 12 months PS Plus(digital code)? The cheapest i have found is £32.99 from ElectronicFirst and i have used them once before.

2. Will it come with a trial code?

3. Does it have a huge day one update?

4. I guess PS Plus free monthly games if missed don't get repeated, as the last few months look pretty bad?

5. How long does the controller take to charge and can i buy any longer USB lead if the other is too short?
