England XI vs Chile

Forster; Johnson, Jones, Cahill, Baines; Milner, Lampard, Wilshere; Rodriguez, Rooney, Lallana.

Ian Wright has a point on Milner-Barkley. We all know Milners a tactical utility player. We havent though seen Barkley feature on this stage.

This England team and performance is awful. How Roy Hodgson is England boss is anyone's guess. All he needs now is some rain and an umbrella.

Boring. Rubbish. Predictable. Sums up England.

Why keep up with the usual rubbish talk of "let's focus on the 2020 world cup"
Are people blind to the obvious? England are getting worse each year. Come 2020 we'll be lucky to even qualify. Ross Barkley isn't going to be that great. We can pretend he'll be a lampard and Gerrard but even then they couldn't get the job done either. English football would need a massive overhaul to achieve any significant improvement at international level. This won't happen anytime soon given the massive amount of money the premier league creates utilising foreign players.

I have little interest in England's youth setup. It's as plain as it can be. They aren't good enough and at the current rate they never will be. Anyone that thinks England's youngsters have a chance at any future world cup is crazy. Everyone around England produces infinitely better players and plays infinitely better football than we do. I don't see it changing anytime soon. At current rate we're just doing a complete circle. If Ross Barkley ever reaches that same level as Lampard or Gerrard then what have we achieved? Nothing. We've just completed the circle. We'll still be long behind every other top international team.

The solution was already presented but it's not possible given the Premier League.

Rather than be mugged and hyped into hopeless rants about how next year will be our year, I'll sit back and accept reality. Changes have to be made and right now I don't see any change at all. They're quick to point out its the foreigners and the premier league but extremely lazy when it comes to solving it.

Tonights performance was pathetic, no midfield, Rooney was terrible and what the hell was Hart doing coming out and then pushing into a fellow player and pushing the ball away.

Hart is the keeper, and he the 'commander' in the box and should be telling his defenders he is there and in control.

If this is part of the squad Hodgson is thinking of taking to Brazil, he might as well resign in the morning.

NOT one player in the team played to their club potential, and all this rubbish about Hodgson having a dig at the Premier League not giving the England time to blend before the World Cup starts - absolute rubbish.

Clubs pay the players wages, and all they want to do is turn up for England, play 90 minutes and hope they get to Brazil. players are pampered to such belief that they can get that England shirt.

What the FA forget, is that fans pay a lot of money to travel the world to see England play, and what will happen is thousands of England fans will save hard, take time off work and borrow money to go to Brazil- pay lots of money to get tickets, for what.

England were crap tonight, yes it was a friendly - But Hodgson is picking his squad from this shambles. He doesn't have a clue of what to do.He should resign and let someone else do the job.

Even a German player got MOFM, thats saying something - then to get booed off the pitch, that was something else.

Completely right. The idea people have of the likes of Jose or Fergie fixing the problem is crazy. No one but England itself can fix this train wreck of an international team. Need an established league that's highlighted by established English players. Instead we have an established league highlighted by foreigners.

On that performance, and past performances will not get out of the group they go into.

Hodgson, always comes out with the same excuses. The England payers are pampered so much its a mockery.

What Roy has to do is stop pampering and get down to basics, if you are NOT playing well, you don't get picked.
Kick them up the butt. He is just not strong enough to manage them. What he should have done was at half time, he should have made the team stay on the pitch and do some strong training on how to pass the ball, how to play in midfiled etc.

Total rubbish in my view.

And do what, win a game, scrape out of the group?

I wonder if the players failure to perform is due to the pressure we put them under, remember scolari walking away before even taking the job because of press pressure and Sven said in his autobiography it was as if the press didn't want us to win anything.

We talking about the best teams in the world - not the reserves that England were playing against.

He has achieved more than Harry, he's won league titles around the world, got Switzerland to their first finals in over forty years and got to at least.two Europa finals, what's Harry done, won an fa cup and got relegated a few times. Oh yes and Roy was a shoo in for the Germany job until the kaiser got involved a few years back.

England, will simply have to play like giants and not panises against Italy or Uruguay to go through their group. And play with Blood and sweat to get through or its goodbye.

Re: World Cup road to 2014

What we need is plenty of bottle, guts and blood - sadly that won't happen with England.

I might be knocking England, but to me they have not shown the bottle to take on big teams, they come out with all this talk. But nothing happens - and all the players pick up a nice pay check.

They have three lions on the famous white shirt - they should try acting like it.

This is what England need tbh. If we head in with no pressure and the expectations of failing at the group stage then great things tend to happen.

Re: World Cup road to 2014

I can only assume the game was crap - l turned it over at halftime. when they missed those sitters, l knew it would be boring. Yes, they won.

We dont stand a chance in the World Cup. Yes, this was a friendly, BUT we are supposed to be taking a pampered bunch of footballers, that are on thousands of pounds per week and should be proud to wear an England shirt.

BUT, the worse thing is that England are hiring people to make them feel good. What a load of LOB.

What about the poor fans that are going to waste all their hard earned money to go and watch this crap.
They should all be ashamed of themself. Now they are going to wait by their phone for that call from Hodgson. I wouldn't even bother, if players are not going to perform on the night, then they dont deserve to go to the Eorld Cup.

Well if one of the nations fans don't consider it important enough to get many more than 13000 of them to turn up even when one of the worlds best players is on show then frankly no excuse is needed, they'd have been better of playing that game in Spain, it'd have got more interest.
