Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Meh, I have the One X and find that other than the screen and wifi signal strength, it's inferior to the S3 in just about every other way.

I have a few triple play Blu Ray films and got the digital content from iTunes using the code on the disk but S3 doesnt play m4v. Have a look at this for getting sky go to work win a s3 or HOX its supposed to block the root / unsupported being reported to the sky go app. Not tried it on my HOX but there are reports of it working
I used a similar one for my jailbreak iPad. J http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...06967&page=193 |

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Anyone got any issues when playing music, im asking as when im listening to music player it will just randomly put its self on pause or even just go off competely, i tried winamp free for a short time and tha went off as well but thay may not be linked
|
Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Phone going off or music player going off? Can't say I've experienced either on my S3 (though I did see the former once or twice on my S2)
I wonder if it's incorrectly detecting you've unplugged your headphones? Most android media players automatically pause music when you unplug your headphones, to avoid it blurting out loudly and embarrassingly over the phone speaker (this has happened to me several times in the past on Nokia handsets in the library, it's not fun). You can turn that function off in many media players, though if there's a fault with your headphone socket I'd get that looked at first. |
Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Have you possibly plaed the phone face down or covered the screen? Its got a feature that pauses when that is done.
|

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
As I say, I'd try turning off the "pause when you disconnect your headphones" feature - I'm not sure if the stock media player has it but PowerAmp definitely does. Alternative being just wiggle your headset a lot to see if it causes it.
Oh and if you use the supplied headset, it has 3 buttons and one of them acts as a play/pause button. Course it could be nothing to do with the headphones and just the phone running out of RAM, and closing the media player. Memory management on Android 4 is still a bit flakey on some devices. |
Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Must say I've not had any issues with the music player pausing or stopping of its own accord.
|
Just at train station andit just went on pause by its self it stoll had headphone icon at top to show headphones were still in i went to play again as soon as i press play and pressed home button it did sane thing it did tbis 3 times in less than 2 mins and still kept showing headphone icon i really is peeing me off to max all settings are ok
---------- Post added at 04:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:39 PM ---------- Ram usage was high even with bo apps runnning and i even went into task manager ended all active apps and processes and still it was over 600mb restated and gone back down to 400 something mb and ok at. Maybe it is a ram issue bit why is my ram so high with nothing running and no live wallpaper? |
Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Android by default keeps all applications running (cached) in the background to make them load faster. It usually kills these before killing any actual live applications, but sometimes gets it wrong (especially on HTCs with their custom/aggressive app killing code). It's unlikely to be a RAM issue but a remote possibility is still a possibility.
Have you tried Poweramp with the autopause function disabled? And are you using the included headset? |
Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
I havnt but i shall try and report my findings. It is strange as when i restarted my phone all was ok again

As stupid as it sounds...sometimes turning it off and on is the best solution.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
I guess you turned on auto-haptic. Settings => Sound => Auto haptic. Turn it off or deselect the app in the list of auto-haptic apps.

On the note of the S3, Samsung seem to have copied Apple again in yet another aspect, having built a phone that likes to spontaneously self-combust:

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Well I figured out what it was for me. There's two different things.
One is the mute/pause music when you place your palm against the phone (feature), the other is the RAM management being bad - for me I only notice it when browsing heavy web pages during which the music player sometimes exits. But the placing palm against phone to mute it feature did trigger it a few times in my pocket too. I just turned it off. Not happened once since. |

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
On the subject of music players: Does anyone know of a music player for Android that allows you to sort artists by first letter only? I've got 20GB worth of music on my phone, and the stock Android music player lists all artists alphabetically, which means I always have to scroll through all artists. This gets a little laborious for artists further down the alphabet (particularly seeing that 'the' is a popular prefix for band names). I'd like to be able to (as I could on my Creative Zen) just select a letter of the alphabet to jump to all artists starting with that letter. I've not been able to find an Android music player that allows that though.

The prices have been released and I can say not impressed really £99 for the handset no matter which tariff you take seems alittle strange too me not sure I can justify £99 and starting another 24 month contract.

O2 are offering for £46 a month unlimited mins and txts and 2gb of data and handset for £19.99 so not everywhere is £99

t mobile do the full monty for £36per month free phone 2000 mins unlimited text and net and if you buy from buymobilephones.net you get a sim free phone and quidco/topcashback

VM's pricing is ridiculous on this. They seriously need to rethink it. If they don't at least drop the £99 upfront fee I'm off. |
Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
A friend at work has just got one of these (Vodaphone) and it doesn't seem to want to charge properly, has anybody else had this problem?
The Red light does come on and the white dots cycle indicate it is charging. |
Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
When you say doesn't want to charge properly, what happens? Does the battery not last long? Could be the battery or it could be the connector on the phone. Get it replaced if he only just got it.
|
Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
It seems to take ages to charge

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3
Does anyone know how to find the default notification files folder when you connect up to pc with a usb, I cannot find them anywhere, I placed a couple of old mp3 files I had in /mnt/sdcard/media/audio/notifications they appear in phone but tags are in Chinese I think and not English, So I wanted to open the folder that contains them to edit tags. There seem to be various notification folders on phone so placed files in these and again it shows up in phone and again in Chinese doubling up then trebling up, I deleted all files but there is still a set of files in the phones notifications folder but these seem to be hidden files, any help appreciated
