That would be great, just in time for Burns Vs. Katsidis. This should be another candidate for fight of the year, as long as Burns can see out the first 3 rounds safely. In fact Paul Smith Vs. George Groves should be good too.

With all this action on Boxnation, and Primetime Live snapping up Pacman Vs. Marquez III I'm beginning to wonder what SKY are actually doing. They aren't covering the best domestic action and they aren't covering the best international action either. SKY Sports need to get a grip quickly. Their boxing coverage is becoming second rate. That is not acceptable from a company with 5 dedicated sports channels.

i can see sky sports going bust if this case with the pub landlady about football coverage goes against them, what will they have if they dont have football or boxing? maybe this is why they arent putting money into boxing anymore?

Boxnation will only survive as long as they deliver top domestic and international action, week in and week out.

Last Fridays card was terrible. It fell apart due to Frankie Gavin pulling out at the night before. If the internet rumours are true, the guy was not in a fit state of mind to enter the ring.

Byrne was out of his depth. Ultimately it was his choice to step in the ring as a late replacement and accept the money. On papers it looked like he had a chance. Frank Warren could not afford for this card to be pulled off Boxnation.

I think when BoxNation launch it will be free to viewers until after the Christmas Holidays.

Cinemoi was free for two months when it launch last year on Virgin.

The 03rd of December is looking great:

The WBA Welterweight Championship of the World
Miguel Cotto vs Antonio Margarito

The WBA Lightweight Championship of the World
Brandon Rios vs John Murray

Cotto Vs. Margarito II is probably the most anticipated fight of the year.

Yeah totally agree. If you are a boxing fan, UFC fan plus a fan of MMA it's good times at the moment.

Boxing is finally getting the exposure it deserves. With SKY Sports, Boxnation, Eurosport, ESPN, Channel 5 and Primetime Live all showing regular events it won't be long until we get about 20 live cards a month on British TV!
ESPN Friday Night Fights is one of my favourite shows and returns in about 10 weeks time.

March of this year was not too bad in terms of world title fights. No real massive fights though:

Saul Alvarez Vs. Matthew Hatton
Zab Judah Vs. Kaizer Mabuza
Sergio Gabriel Martinez Vs. Serhiy Dzinziruk
Miguel Angel Cotto Vs. Ricardo Mayorga
Ricky Burns Vs. Joseph Laryea
Lucian Bute Vs. Brian Magee
Vitali Klitschko Vs. Odlanier Solis
Guillermo Rigondeaux Vs. Willie Casey
Yuriorkis Gamboa Vs. Jorge Solis

They did have a deal for the show earlier this year but before they even broadcast an episode the deal was scrapped and the show remained on ESPN.

I think Premier Sports broadcast Shobox: The Next Generation twice a month. They also have another 8 live broadcasts left under their deal with Top Rank.

If Premier Sports did come to Virgin, I'd truly be in boxing heaven. It could be the most live boxing I've ever watched, and I watch a lot!

I won 2 yesterday myself but had to confirm via e-mail I couldn't go. I was e-mailed from Boxnation asking me to reply if I could actually use the tickets and go to the event. I was not happy. I e-mailed them back thanking them for the opportunity but also questioned their logic. Why leave it until about 22 hours before the show starts to confirm the winners? If I has been told earlier in the week I could have arranged travel and accommodation.

I've not heard anything back from them.

Yup, various sources all seem to be pointing towards a December launch on Virgin. Looks like Boxnation could be aiming to have the channel on Virgin for Cotto Vs. Margarito II on the 3rd December. Apart from Haye Vs. Klitschko, Cotto Vs. Margarito II is the biggest fight of 2011. Would be a real shame if Virgin customers miss out however I have faith the channel will be up and running by then. Cotto Vs. Margarito II would be an excellent fight to announce the channels arrival on Virgin.

On a separate note, go Rickster! Katsidis will be a real tough challenge for him tonight. Watching this in my Mum and Dad's house with my Dad and 2 brothers. Mum, bless her, has got the Pizzas and Beer in for us.

George Groves Vs. Paul Smith - Groves to win by points

Ricky Burns Vs. Michael Katsidis - Katsidis to win by stoppage

I dont see t to be honest, Do we know if there is a 12 month contract with BoxNation or will it be a month by month deal like Sky Sports is on Virgin?

All pay extra channels (Sky Sports, Racing UK) on Virgin you only need in for 30 days.

So BoxNation will be on an month by month when it goes £10 pm on Virgin.

Technically not championship boxing but SKY are showing Alfredo Angulo v James Kirkland tomorrow morning on SKY Sports 4 at 10:00am. This should be explosive!

SKY also have the rights to Wladimir Klitschko v Jean-Marc Mormeck on the 10th December.

The winner of Price Vs. McDermott goes on to face Tyson Fury. The British heavyweight scene is fairly exciting at the moment.

I totally forgot that SKYU are also showing Carl Froch Vs. Andre Ward next month. Now that should be a classic.

Quite a few good fights before the end of 2011.
No pay-per-view too, I hope BoxNation get a lot of the pay-per-view fights, £10 a month looks quite good then! It also puts a bit of pressure on sky to show fights for free.

Hi Chad

The point I was trying to make was last nights uk card would have been on SKY Sports as standard. Is SKY playing a back seat in boxing, last night would have created a big hole in their Saturday night schedule!

SKY announced in the summer they were pulling out of PPV boxing. The last PPV show was Haye Vs. Klitschko. It's partly this decision by SKY that has led to Frank Warren getting involved with Boxnation. Warren has pulled his fighters off SKY, they are now all Boxnation exclusive fighters.

The decision from SKY not to do PPV also led to a bust up with Golden Boy promotions. Golden Boy are now "best buddies" with Primetime Live. I'm very disappointed that Pacman Vs. Marquez III is PPV next week for £15.00. The fight isn't due to start until 5:00am. How on earth can Primetime justify charging £15.00 for a show that starts at 2:00am and ends at about 6:30am?

As more and more people subscribe to Boxnation, they will be able to outbid Primetime and SKY for TV rights.

The point I was trying to make was last nights uk card would have been on SKY Sports as standard. Is SKY playing a back seat in boxing, last night would have created a big hole in their Saturday night schedule!

Burns Vs. Katsidis was reportedly scheduled to be on SKY Sports originally. Frank Warren basically took the huff when SKY told him they were no longer doing PPV shows.

SKY must be worried. They remain committed but are basically picking up the scraps left behind by Boxnation and Primetime Live. Boxnation is showing the best domestic action, best European action and top American action.

A worrying sign for SKY is Boxnations ability to snatch British action from under their noses. Frank Warren recently won the pursue bids to promote Crolla Vs. Limond even though neither are his fighters. Warren outbid the other promoters allowing him to promote the show, and broadcast it on Boxnation. Ordinarily Crollas promoter Ricky Hatton would have won the pursue bids and the fight would have been shown on SKY.

Frank Warren / Boxnation could create a monopoly in British boxing!

The less people who pay for the fight thre better too. Primetime can onle charge for fights if people are willing to pay for them! £15 for this fight is a rip-off to be honest, these two have had two good fights but this will be one fight to many for Marquez! Pay-per-view is one American import they can keep Its totally unfair to those of us that pay a monthly subscription for sports to then pay again if there is a big event.

I couldn't agree more. PPV boxing and PPV WWE are a total farce. At least PPV boxing is on a Saturday night / Sunday monrning. WWE fans pay £15.00 to watch Wrestlmania or Summer Slam on a Sunday night!

If people stop buying the PPV events it kills the demand and the market for it. As long as people buy the shows, they'll keep serving them up.

I pay my TV license, and a subscription to Virgin for TV XL and SKY Sports each month to watch premium TV and sports events. Being asked to pay £15.00 PPV for a 3 hour show in the early hours of the morning is a joke.

At least with Boxnation I will have access to 8 live broadcasts per month plus about 10 hours of action each day from the archives of Frank Warren, Sauerland Events and Golden Boy Promotions. I get the Steve Bunce Boxing Hour each week and shortly BoxNation will have a daily boxing news show.

Hopefully when the channel launches on Virgin an On Demand deal can be agreed too.

I love to watch manny fights but the only PPV I would pay for him would be with mayweather. I think boxing lives in there own little world at times, while the rest of us have to live with the prospects of a possible gloomy economic future!

The really good thing about Khan going back to SKY is we might finally see an end to PPV boxing in the UK!

When Khan moved to Primetime Live for his fight against McCloskey, Richard Schaefer CEO of Goldenboy confirmed if a broadcaster falls out with a Goldenboy fighter, they fall out with the whole stable. Since then Khan Vs. Judah, Floyd Mayweather Vs. Victor Ortiz and Pacman Vs. Marquez III have been on Primetime Live at £14.99 a pop.

Hopefully all future Goldenboy promoted shows will make a return to SKY Sports. Apparently Mayweather Vs. Ortiz bombed in terms of PPV buys.

Pacman is promoted by Bob Arum at Top Rank. For some reason I thought Marquez was being promoted by Goldenboy for this fight but he's Top Rank too.

Seeing Cotto Vs. Margarito III is on BoxNation, both are Top Rank fighters too, hopefully Boxnation can land a long term deal with Top Rank. If not looks like, if this weekends show is a success, Pacman might remain a PPV fighter in the UK.

Pacman will be on SKY Sports News live from the States between 8pm and 9pm tonight.

I'm pretty sure he'd face Prescott again if it made financial sense however Prescott has lost his last 2 fights and doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a world title shot.

Also whilst Khan does face "easy opponents" at times, his bout against Marcos Maidana proved he is not prepared to duck anyone.

For me Khan needs to face Timothy Bradley before moving up to Welterweight.

I watched the Primetime Live PPV of Pacman Vs. Marquez. Just before the judges decision was confirmed, Amir Khan called out Marquez for a fight next year.

really i didnt see the fight , be good if it happens (khan v marquez), i to think the bradley fight needs to happen , i would like to see khan v prescott 2 , i think people are always going to bring that fight up long after khan has retired , he nees to lay the prescott fight to rest once and for all , and prove it was a fluke.

I've just noticed that the following has been added to the Boxnation website:

"Are you tired of paying for a fight that doesn’t go more than three rounds? Or fed-up with only being able to watch a couple of fights a year?

BoxNation is the channel that every boxing fan has been waiting for.

It’s really simple, for just £10 a month you will get exclusive access to the big live fights from all around the world and all the behind-the-scenes access to the boxing world you could want – from interviews with the boxers, to expert commentary and analysis, to weigh-ins and press conferences.

More build up. More live fighting. More highlights. More analysis. Just more boxing!

But the best bit is that for a limited time only, you can watch the channel for FREE! Just tune into channel 456 on Sky.

Why register?

Register your interest right now to qualify for;

•Our special introductory offer of 6 months for the price of 5

•An exclusive weekly newsletter from Frank Warren

•The chance to win boxing prizes that money just can’t buy

By registering now, you’re not committing to anything. You will simply receive news from BoxNation and information on how to subscribe to the channel ahead of the subscription service’s launch on the first of December.

Sky customers will soon be able to subscribe and pay for the channel through this site, while Virgin Media customers should contact Virgin directly (we expect to be live on Virgin Media cable within two weeks).

Don’t miss out, register today!"

So looks like Boxnation might be launching on Virgin Media on the 1st December 2011, just in time for Cotto Vs. Margarito II

I know BoxNation is all about boxing (a sport I love, when the fights are up to the standard of the greats of yesteryear) but every time I see threads about it I have memories of that middling music channel The Box which I remember from the old Nynex days, that lovely STB with red LED and small black cheap remote with orange/gray buttons.

Back on topic... good news about BoxNation. Bit expensive though.

For me personally you just can't beat the buzz of watching a major fight live. Calzaghe Vs. Lacy, Froch Vs. Pascal, Haye Vs. Maccarinelli, Lewis Vs. Tyson, Hatton Vs. Mayweather and Khan Vs. You're absolutely right of course, the few fights I've seen live PPV with a group of people in the room were pretty memorable. And as it's unfolding live there's no need to avoid the sports news next day to avoid the result getting spoiled.
