The town that we live in has links to Man U and also there has been a lot more over the years?

Here is the main link. So hate is a bad word?

Overreacting a tad are we not? Arsenal drew a couple of pre-season games, the first in which they changed a lot of the team at half time and the other one they changed quite a few players including introducing a new CB for his debut. It's a pre-season game, it's not indicative of the season. Both Manchester teams have beaten Barcelona in pre-season games, Leicester only lost to Real Madrid 2 - 1 yesterday.

Arsenal have a pretty good defence when everyone is fit. Koscielny and Vermaelen were great today, especially Koscielny. Koscielny has excellent awareness and positioning, he reads a pass very early, if he has addressed his physical aspect then he can be one of the best defenders in the league.

Btw Arsenal conceded the fewest goals from open play last year, all while our best center back was injured.

It's not quite as obvious and simple as people make out. We need another center back both to add depth and to address the weakness and set-pieces.

A good win though over Inter Milan even with Sneijder playing.. now I can't remember who's he thinking of transferring too... :p:

I though like the small friendly international competitions as it's good practice for the european games.. pity though that City didn't get a chance to play Celtic in the comp.

As I said though I think that next Sunday will be interesting especially with MU looking for revenge over the FA-cup semi defeat. I'm really looking forward to the game

Newcastle went down 3-2 to Leeds united thanks to some terrible goalkeeping from the lad that won a trophy with Celtic last year.

Bright game for Haris Vuckic again though scoring his second in 2 games.

Seems to be a lot of hype around this boy as if he is the next big name striker.
Shame really because if that does come to truth he wont be at Newcastle :( Only 18 as well.

I wasn't overreacting, it was more a joke about Arsenal and not winning competitons. I rarely take much interest in results of pre season games as they mean very little.

I laughed at first..but maybe not a bad idea...anyone relegated from premier league...goes all the way to the bottom..like snakes and ladders

One heck of an incentive to stay up...though some teams seem to do that the hard way...want to get relegated each successive season :D

Yup. Great view though, it's a newly designed stadium after all. However your not going to pay anything near that sum unless you choose the premium seats for the top games.

Did you read the comments underneath? Barton has the backing of our fans countrywide with the select few going out of there way to make sure his off the pitch antics are never forgotten. Its a shame for a guy how had a fantastic season with minimal issues to be constantly kicked when possible.

Barton is also still a Newcastle player, He hasn't gone anywhere as of yet and he has no plans of going anywhere unless the unthinkable happens and they pay off the rest of his contract and force him to leave a year earlier.

Newcastle United refused to release their figures and I can tell you the reason for this. They wont release them because for a club that just bounced back up and finished in the bottom half of the table... they charge the same prices as a top 4 club.

As a respected member of this forum l think you are making excuses for players who are getting £200,000 a week so to moan about how they are unhappy in Manchester really takes the biscuit.

Why do you use respected and revered when talking about me?? Weird....

Being unhappy with surroundings in a dump like Manchester isn't anything strange.. Though Tevez's main issue is being separated from his daughter and family, as for Balotelli he's made one comment saying that he's missing Italy.. I miss Manchester yet I'll probably never go back there to live..

Stop taking things so extreme.. Tevez has played great football, helped win an FA cup but if he wants to go then I hope he's happy where ever he ends up..

l know exactly what the difference is but perhaps if they miss their family and homeland that much then perhaps its time for them to pack football in get into a profession where they are nearer their families and homeland but they seem to be very quick to pick up their huge pay cheques each month.

Den you seem to forget that a lot of footballers who come for Argentina/Brazil/ South Africa and other countries that have massive widespread poverty. They all play so that they are able to give their families a better life?
So yes they will get homesick and will miss their families as well.

Just my opinion on the subject?

I think he's actually comparing Barton to some one who has been a cancer at every club he's ever been at, a seasons great football is all you can expect from him then it starts and whilst he's still putting in performances people pander to him until finally they are sick to the back teeth and flog him on for yet another bumper pay day.

Does anyone actually buy his homesick, if so why's he moving to Italy further away and why did he consider moving to Brazil, has he forgotten the death threats last time, that can't be good for his family.

Kymmy 02-08-2011 17:50

Re: Football Season 2011/12

You're still though talking about someone who is violent and been convicted of violence..

If we considered Tevez's actions the same then we would have to jail him for life.. Tevez has never made any secret of his missing of his family.. He wants to be near them.. Personally in his situation I wouldn't want to bring a family anywhere near England never mind Manchester so you can understand that Italy is the lesser of two evils and a step in the right direction for him personally.

As for football contracts these 5 year deals must be hard on foreign players but it's what the clubs insist on.. It gives the home players a lot of security which is good but it's not for everyone..

Surely the fact that Barton has a year left on his contract yet is being offered a free transfer says a lot about the player..

Niles Crane 02-08-2011 18:45

Re: Football Season 2011/12

Italy and Argentina have very strong cultural links, it's perfectly logical for an Argentinian to move to Italy in order to feel more at home. There's a reason why Italian and Spanish football is full of Argentinians, while English football isn't. The same way French football is full of French speaking Africans.

Catania can literally field a whole team of Argentinians.

Agreed. Barton is just poison.

As to others, i have little sympathy for balotelli...and some sympathy to tevez...though not sure he is moving wholly for family reasons. I genuinely think he is tired of manchester

Never lived there myself...so can't comment on it...though I've never found reason to go on holiday there :D

Yea because Barton is being offered away for free for no apparent reason, probably the same reason Kevin Nolan was flogged for beans.

What has gone on in the past few weeks is an absolute disgrace and the fact the board that sits over the Premierleague have just sat and watched as Multiple Newcastle United players receive fines for telling fans what is really happening.

The treatment of Barton and Enrique is a disgrace. It has also shed light on the fact Alan Pardew is no more than a Yes man.

Club released this about Barton

Quote:

Several dressing room rows towards the end of last season, as well as during pre-season.

The refusal to shake the manager’s hand after being told he hadn’t been appointed captain at Leeds.
The potential to be a bad influence on younger players in the dressing room, with several of the squad still under 21.

The impression created on United’s new signings and future signings of the club, some of which could be in place soon.

A rant during the warm-up at Leeds, at half-time and at full-time following the 3-2 defeat.

Barton’s dismay over the decision to allow new boy Yohan Cabaye take all of the corners and free-kicks during the game against Leeds.
But Pardew says

Quote:

Joey's behaviour has been exemplary, often under extreme provocation, since I've been here. Joey is conducting his life off the pitch in the right way.

"Since I have managed Joey he has been a quality player for me and deserves the armband. In life, you have to deal with people as you find them. I don't dismiss anyone because someone told me their reputation is that of a horrible person or a nasty player.

"Joey's career has been about extremes. I have to make sure he is on the right path and I am doing that. I try to give him the guidance and respect he wants

I am not going to turn against one of our own players after all that Ashley has done.. He thinks he can make us believe Barton is the problem at Newcastle... your having a laugh mate! I thought Ashley's story of putting Money into this club to help was believable but after what's gone on in the past few weeks its clearly another fabrication similar to the one above. If Barton was unhappy with the captaincy going to Shola Ameobi at Elland Road, who can blame him? It's reassuring that someone with a squad number was bothered enough by Sunday's display to have a rant, rather than sleepwalk home wearing headphones as many of them did.

Didn't we get £5m for Nolan? For someone of his age (regardless of quality) I'd say that's pretty good.

I'm bias against Barton because I just don't like the man. He's been offered everything on a platter by Newcastle and he's smashed the platter back into their face.

Good riddance.

By giving them two top notch seasons then wanting a longer contract?

Pundits regarded him as one of the best mid-fielders last season. This league has the likes of Lampard, Gerrard and whatnot in it.

I'm not saying he lacks in quality because he is a decent player, but he's an egotist if he can complain about anyone after the things he has said and done. "I've been fined two weeks wages unfairly", boo hoo, he get paid over four million pound a year and thinks he can say what he wants about the people that pay him.

Hope he leaves english football for good along with Ballotelli.

But the person that pays him is one of the biggest *s to ever run a football club. Barton has every right to slam Mike Ashley and so do the 52,000 loyal fans that line his back pocket week in week out.

No players = No football.

As for balotelli he is another that is being ridiculed constantly and it wont get better if his own supporters ridicule him as well!

Ah, missed your Nolan thing. Transfer fee was £3.5 million.

I really hope this selling is part of a much bigger picture. I see a french midfield forming and hopefully Shola Ameobi packing his bags!

His own team mates are getting in on the ridiculing to

Mario Balotelli's Manchester City team-mates gave the prank-loving striker a distinctly fishy taste of his own medicine by planting a bag filled with kippers behind the front seat of his Maserati. He discovered it a fortnight later.

Graeme Swann's view

Joey Barton has been released on a free transfer. You what? To me, letting him go is like committing hari kiri.
I wasn't particularly a fan of Joey when he first arrived at St James' Park because, like most people, I'd read all the stuff written about him.

But the way he played for Newcastle and the pride and commitment he showed towards the club was fantastic.

Yes l agree with you as everybody's different and yes we know Joey Barton was convicted of violence but this is such a word as forgiveness as l sure we have all made some serious mistakes in our life ourselves.

And as for Balotelli perhaps they should have done their homework before they had bought him.

Yeah, it would have been nice to see us get N'Zogbia back, why didn't we make the same £10m offer we did in January when he's went for £9.5m?

Ashley obviously had bid that at the time knowing that Wigan needed him for the rest of the season just so he can say that he has put up money should criticism come his way.

We still really need a striker though, Ba isn't going to do wonders on his own and the rest are useless. Carew maybe? He's out of contract so will suit Ashley's new 'regime'.

I always thought Carew had good aerial ability but in my books he does nothing Shola Ameobi cannot.

What we need is someone that can actually Kick the ball into the net instead of these 6 ft players with heading ability. Martins was the last lad we had that could pick the ball up and finish it. Carroll could finish but again it was more about his heading height. Give us a guy with pace and a finish!

Newcastle l thought could have bid for Connor Wickham as he is a young talent but now he has gone to Steve Bruces team and what about making a bid for someone like David N'gog who is on the sidelines at Liverpool.

Could yet end up with a Liverpool player with Enrique as a swap deal.

Doubt it though, Ashley would rather have the lump sum. Shame really after the signing we have made I thought the future was looking good.. Until he started booting players out the door.

Tiote is almost another Essien so He will end up at Chelsea or Spurs in the future. The way we are going we would make the Uefa Fair play rules with ease :(

There is constant talk of mystery striker with Alan Pardew claiming discussions are going well.. If its Peter Crouch I'll have a breakdown. Probably just a load of crap.

Yes it does seem that Jose Enrique is going to Liverpool and on Tiote the question is how long can they keep him and also it would not surprise me if it is a foreign striker they are in discussions but who is the question but l do not think it will be Crouch so l doubt whether you will have a breakdown.

Not completely bad news on Tyneside it seems

Local lad Mark Allison has just hit his £50,000 target in his run across the USA for charity with a lot of running still to be done! Looks like he will be back in time to receive a deserved ovation at St James' Park when Arsenal come to town.

Who knows.. he could be the secret striker, He has ran farther in a month than Michael Owen did in 4 years.

He seems to look the part but drifts out of games too easily. Probably why his contract wasn't extended.

Too cocky?

14 appearances most of them from the subs bench is a chance to prove yourself? He will get more of a chance at Newcastle.

There was a point when Andy Carroll couldnt hit the net to save his life for the first team. Almost sold him on for a few million.. Lucky we didn't eh.

Feel Nile Ranger is going through a similar period.. Knowing our luck we will sell this guy on and sit back as he starts smacking them in.
