installation and activation are two different things though.

I take your point, however there is no mention of activation fee on the mailshot it gives the impression that if you upgrade to VIP 50 all costs are covered.

I haven't seen the mailshot, so can't comment on that, but are you sure there is nothing in the small print?

As I keep on saying, when are virgin going to start making their offers crystal clear? It would certainly put an end to all this confusion, not to mention customers getting angry. Again I ask that someone from virgin post on this forum EXACTLY what the offers regarding tivo and keeping existing v+ boxes are. Perhaps they wont because different customer really are getting different offers? Maybe those in the north east are getting different offers to those in say the midlands who in turn are getting different offers to those in London?

I am on VIP50 and received the letter today.

So am i right in thinking that i pay a one off fee of £49.95 for a 500GB box, the usual £3 a month is on Virgin, and they will relocate my V= HD box currently in my living room into another room for free, no installation fee.

Total cost = A one off payment of £49.95.

Pretty sure there is the installation fee of £40 also. Check the small print of your offer.
Only time I has seen it waived is for people who have upgraded to VIP50 or even VIP100 and in that case the install for 50MB and 100MB currently have free install.
I guess it's becuase you are taking a more expensive service so get their money back that way.

Check the very very very small print, it says a one off activation fee of £30 may be required for 50Mb.

Re: Anyone received a offer from Virgin regarding the 500gb box

Just had my Tivo installed today.

Bought a 46" Sony TV just over a week ago and was really impressed with the picture quality through the V+. However I am really disappointed with the picture quality through the Tivo, what a let down, this is particularly noticeable on the SD channels. Have been switching between the two trying to compare (retained the V+ for free) the V+ definitely has better upscalling.

Now just got to decide if I want to keep the Tivo. I'm currently leaning towards sending it back, although it's quite a bargain at the current price, might just relegate it as the second box, don't think I could live with the inferior PQ on my new tele.

They are working on a update in regards to the PQ on the TIVO box and should be ready in a few months.

Sorry Devil, but VM and TiVo should have got the picture quality issue sorted before launch, there really is no excuse for this as it is the first thing the customer see's when turning the box on and if they had got it right then it would be a huge selling point for the service.

Actually, it's just "some" that have the issue and most are more than happy. Virgin Media have investigated those reports and have taken steps to rectify the issue in a future code release. They are even working with the customers who reported it, so they can test the code before the wider customer base get it.

I was one of the first staff testers and I didn't (and still can't) see any problems on my Sony Bravia.

As if it was all the boxes they would have held back on the launch? Then released the box one the code was written for the up-scaling issue.
So it would have been a lot longer on people getting the boxes?:confused:
