Not that many games left and they seem to be more spread out now. I'm sure they'll just be on the regular channels although perhaps not in HD if you sub to it.

yeah there's only four games a week at most so 2 on tuesday and 2 on wednesday. And one of them is on itv

I find this worrying

http://www.sky.com/shop/sports/home/...y-virginmedia/

On VM it says SOME INTERACTIVE Sky Sports coverage available from 2011

I know this comparison has been on here however the wording seems to suggest it won't be a full interactive service.

:D:D That link has done more rounds then Tiger Woods!;)

I suspect the Red Button will give VM viewers access to live video streams for the cricket, champions league, tennis, golf ect ect but may not give vm viewers access to match choice and or other interactive content however we shall only know once it arrives for sure.:)

Would be a great shame if it wasn't match choice , that is one good feature for football fans.

I agree with you on that one it could well be that is included however as you say the link does seem to suggest some interactive content will not be available, and i would suspect it may well be that sort and of course the stats pages that are available ,i would think that the deal mainly includes the live match streams that sky show on the Red Button, but of course we may well be pleasantly surprised.:erm::)

From the info VM have released thus far i take it the main sports will be shown from the start but one of the links i read said that smaller sports would be covered from late spring, however how full the service will be from the start i suppose will only be apparant when it does actually start ie around easter.:)

So is it right to assume that match choice probably won't be part of the VM red button for the foreseeable future ?

I suppose some sort of service is better than none , but the football fanatics may not see it that way.

I expect a third rate service on the red button knowing Virgin, remember we are still waiting for other things from the Sky deal.

It will have a 3 stage launch.

Match choice will be part of the service in time for the 2011/12 football season.

Come on denphone, cut VM some slack here. :) We are in the final stages of testing and PACE boxes had their download ready for launch last week.

As I say it will be a 3 stage launch. TiVo will be the last to get the service, but it will be in time for Premiership Football.

Neither was i that worried (but i did hope football fans got what they wanted from the Red Button service) as i only sub for the cricket mind you i am missing matches in the world cup that are on Red Button but thank goodness its coming, i am grateful to virgin who realised they needed this service when they sold their tv channels to sky.:)

tbh even tho i getting tivo next week sky red button isn't a priority for me from virgin it get more hd channels and getting the service right, which has been getting done since they have took over.

given the system was a combination of two and is now one system and the state of network has drastically improved. virgin is gonna catch sky up for sure, but virgin aren't as stupid as sky for just getting any old crap hd channel virgin will get the ones the customers want at a fair price.

we will get sky alantic and other eventually it just takes time. i prepared to wait i picked virgin over sky for because i could get better services than sky and that a fact. broadband isn't the best i had it, sky phone is terrible and the tv is ok but it has a lot of crap channels nobody watches.

while virgin has exactly the channels i want. fastest broadband availble in my area and i live right by bt exchange, and the phone is superb save a fortune on call only. if only they did one where u could pay so much a month for calls to mobiles. and customer service has been top notch since i joined in september

There is a phone tariff that you can call non VM mobiles inclusively, it's pricey though but could be good value depending on your call patterns. There are some other lower tiers too I think. I couldn't find a direct link on the VM site so I hope the info is upto date.

you could add Talk Mobile to reduce the cost of non VM mobiles?

Sadly VM's landline phone service is probably the most expensive on the market but you may well be making good savings with other aspects of the service.

Most providers have one element of their package offer which is expensive and the landline is most definitely VM's in virtually every area.

The only option is to subscribe to a 'anywhere' package as I mentioned earlier for inclusive toll free calls to non VM mobiles or you could opt for the 'talk mobile' pack which gives reduced toll calls to other networks.

Calls to most mobile networks from any landline provider are unlikely to ever be cheap though.

By golly you will defend Virgin until you are blue in the face DF, loyalty counts for a lot but you have to treat your existing customers a little bit better for their loyalty as well.

It has got to the point where i am going to disconnect Virgin Media services in stages. First stage March 23 disconnecting phone and downgrading from XL to M+. Will wait for the price rise to take effect and wait in anticipation of (Red Button) Launch?? Then get rid of Broadband and tv which will be a phased disconnection.

Maybe that Denphone cannot get sky i would have trouble where i live in flats a long pole would be necessary for a signal, i am on the top floor of a small block 4 flats, the rest woud get no signal whatsoever due to there being other flats blocking any kind of a signal just a thought.

You could well be right, it was just a suggestion and pointing out upcoming features.

You can downgrade to just M TV if that's any use (only existing customers can do this) and still get catch up which is what I have done.

At the risk of raising your blood prssure further:erm: wether you miss the Red Button does to some degree depend on wether you are a sports fan myself i watch sport and the times a match has started on the main sky sports channels, only to find when the match is halfway in it goes on the Red Button:mad:,at £22.50 a month for sky sports it should not happen and will not for much longer.

Lots of cricket in this cricket world cup has been on the Red Button so in that sense it is new content when it arrives as before we could not see it.

But yes in some cases as you say posters should get a grip.;)

Squeeze me? I know that it is a Red Button Thread and that it is going to be mentioned, But how can it be VMs fault as the coding for the red button has to be re-written from scratch for the VM platform. So as i have said get a grip and do the research about it?

:Yes::Yes And the announcement of the Red Button arriving was made way back in June 2010. We are close to a year but yet more hot air from VM staff.

No offence Devil but the red button is very important to some people like me that's one of the reasons I switched , I wouldn't come on here slating you for constantly raving on TIVO as I know its a big thing for you.

Not making excuses but there was an awful lot of work i gather that went into developement virgins platform was incompatible with it,so the programme had to be written from scratch, so i would think to some degree thats why it has taken some time wait nearly over now though.:)

Yes I agree with this and also I am a big sports fan, But my sports other than football are on Eurosport and also Extreme. The main reason for this is because is I am a cyclist/mountain biker and used to do a lot of athletics when i was younger.

ENOUGH

The thread topic is about the red button functionality on VM. If you can't handle another posters opinions then put them on ignore or just plain ignore them. Any more baiting and sniping will end up with action being taken.

Right I've removed a load of off-topic and flaming posts. This thread will remain closed for another 5 minutes or so in order that everyone can have a read of this warning, any further off-topic posts after this will probably incur formal warnings.

Match choice is going to be part of the service AFAIK, not sure about "record" though?

Soon it will be even easier to catch your team on telly, thanks to the Sky Sports red button.

If they’re not showing on the main channel, all you need to do is press the red button on your remote control, and Bob’s your uncle, you can scroll through all the games and select your side. It’ll work for all 2011-2012 Barclays Premier League matches, plus any UEFA Champions League match, ATP tennis, US Open, Heineken Cup and more. Plus, your clever red button unlocks loads of news and stats, too. And an extra bonus, from late spring you can use it to track down smaller sports events, games or highlights, too. Just keep an eye out for the red button appearing on your Sky Sports premium channels. Nice one

It will be a great deal for VM if they get the record feature as well , as being able to tape your team every week is a nice feature.

Not to be a moaning mini but Sky are going to keep something back which I guess is fair enough. I presumed it would be match choice but as that looks to be coming maybe its te record function they will hold back...

Only problem with current match choice on Sky is when you pick your game to record it can only be recorded in SD , Mersey70 says there looking to change that from next season.

Yet more BS from VM... They mentioned in recent email communications to customers (when mentioning the price rises and telling us how great the service is and what we get for our money) red button would be ready by Mid-March with full functionality in April and add-ons by start of 2011-12 football season in August. End of March nothing and no communication at all via another email/vm website/press release to tell customers as to why... then some people and VM staff wonder why people are so disillusioned with them :(

On an email that was sent by Virgin with a link to microsite full of VM Marketing spiel about what customers get with VM and the future. Specific section on Sky Sports Red Button launch and lists some of the stuff I mentioned in my post including mention of some of the content. One of things that stood out was no mention of Spanish Football (i mention this on prior post I made on the subject) in that. I know Sly have been trialing Spanish games to their customers only live via their website so would be annoyed if this wasnt on the red button feature.

Cant find the email aa 40k + in my inbox and I either deleted or its archieved but when I do Ill click on the link and post it to prove my point.

To be fair though VM stated Sky Arts HD was arriving in the coming months some 9 months ago so you can't blame people being sceptical , I personally think it will arrive.
