Look on any forum or any blog and check out the polls. There lies the truth. The vast majority of Virgin customers who want SS in HD will not pay extra for two measly channels.. VM football fans will lose customers to Sky who offer all 4 Sky Channels in HD at a lesser cost in all (for me anyway).
It's an own goal by VM and I am gutted to leave to the dark side after 10 years as a happy cable customer. But VM are now no better, if not worse, than Sky, so good riddance.

Obviously you must be receiving a discount on your bill already ryan hence the loyalty bonus, I'm just wondering what you feel VM should offer the two sky sports HD channels to you for? taking into account that the price VM have to pay Sky £5.50ishpm.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Did the sums and from tonight I'll save money on VIP, as paying less on phone bill, plus getting all movies. Also by dropping picture box, I'll only have to pay £2 extra for Sky movies and sports HD. So for me any improvements to VIP will be an added bonus.

Arsenal,Celtic,Lyon and AC Milan....whatever.

The point I was feebly attempting to make is - we pay £7 for SSHD 1&2 - what's to stop them putting fings on SSHD 3&4 like the example above.

Obvs not Cov - no-one in their right mind would want to watch Cov.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I am currenty on the ViP package paying £89.50 per month, building the same package from "build a bundle" comes in a £1 per month cheaper,

Sent an e-mail to CEO explaining that after being a ViP customer for several years I was dissapointed in the current package and even more dissapointed in being asked to pay an extra £7 pounds (per box) for access to the Sky HD package.

Got a phone call 2 Hrs after e-mail sent offering same 6 month free package as detailed many time before on this thread. I indicated that I wasn't happy to have to be tied in to a package that has no value for money and was considering other packages on Virgin, but indicated I wait in eager anticipation on what Virgin will come up with for their revamped ViP package.

I explained that when I took out the ViP package it was the top speed BB and biggest bundles and was cheaper than building up seperatley but this is not now the case. The Virgin rep hadn't heard that it was cheaper to build the bundle than on th ViP package, but did promise to look in to it.

Another complaint made is that they will not supply me a new V HD box to replace the standard digital box we have upstairs unless it breaks and will not supply me a router as advertised for new customers. It appears that they give more deals to new customers than those who have been with Telewest / Virgin for 12 + years.

I make it £91 a month to build your own vip?
But it does seem unfair that old customers dont get the same perks as the new ones with the hd box and the n router!

XL everything + Sports + Movies + V+ on bundle builder comes to £73.51 + £11.99 line rental, which is £85.50, plus £5.50 multiroom is £91. But then you have to add talk international + talk mobile (£1.50 each) which is another £3, taking it up to £94.

Sorry, I thought you got the extra box with the XL TV package as well.

Just looked at recent bill and it appears that I am being charged £92.49 for my package? I will give them a call to ask why the Vip Package is advertised at £89.50.

There's a thread about this on the Billing forum, I'm in the same boat and all CS say is £92.49 is the correct price and the price on the website is for new customers only. I sent a complaint that the website says it's for existing customers as well, still awaiting a reply (4 days now).

As previous a poster has said, it's not great service looking after you long standing customers when they won't give you the same hardware as new. We are also without the 2nd room HD box / new router and have been paying the full advertised price for our services for 10 years.

I had a similar problem at the weekend. I'm on triple XL with two V+ boxes. Whilst checking for someone else, I found that i was paying £1.50 more than the advertised price on the website.

I rang CS, who said that the web price was different to non website bought packages. I don't think you could buy via the web when I joined, years ago!

I said that was a load of rubish and Virgin promise to treat their exhisting customers the same as new ones. I asked to speak to a manager and she talked to the Manage and wouldn't put me through. The Manager said, via the Cs rep that I would have to contact head office. I asked for the managers name so I could quote it in the head office email and she refused to give it. They then said that £1.50 wasn't that much anyway! The principle of the thing got to me then and i asked to be put through to retentions.

The retentions guy asked me if I was after a discount. I told him I wasn't --- I just wanted to pay the price advertised on the website. To me that was fair. I also told him how dissatisfied i was with CS.

He then, straight away, offered me £9/month off my bill with a new 12 month contract. I've been a customer for around thirteen years and he said to always come straight through to retentions if there are any problems as they would always sort it out, particularly for long term customers.

It worked well for me!

Called the CS and hit buttons asking to get through to "Customer wishing to leave". Guy at the end of the phone explained I was paying more because I had a extra box. I explained to him that the web site advertised extra box free with ViP package, after short conversation he agreed drop my package down to the £89.50.

Had several dealings with VM over the last few days and if you call earlier in the day you may be lucky to get through to the UK call centre and if you are unlucky you will get the overseas call centre (India or some where similar). UK Call centre Team very helpful but the overseas team where hopeless.

Diane from CEO office is now saying the new VIP package details will be out in "early 2011" - so nothing this year then :td:

Also confirms "we are looking to see what we can do for our VIP customers when we launch the HD channels in August" - could this be a £7 per month credit for all ? August is next week so, in thery, not long to wait to find out.

Jameseh 28-07-2010 16:23

If they had any intentions of giving the VIP customers free Sky Premium HD then they would have done so when pre-orders started, not when they launch.

I have not heard either - but not sure if it means anything - but on the tv guide the channels names are not greyed out but are in white text. Does this mean that I am subscribed. I only say this because other channels that I don't subscribe to appear in grey text. Anybody know for certain?

Heard back today to say will get HD Sky channels from Monday and a £7 discount on my bill for 6 months, but had to agree to new 12 month contract.
VIP new bundle should be sorted by the end of 6 months.

Everyone can view the channels at the moment, as they are just showing a slate on how to upgrade. Anyone who hasn't subscribed will not be able to view them from Monday.

You can tell if you are subscribed if you did what I did. I looked at dates after the launch and I was able to put movies on record but when i tried to do that with channels I am not subscribed to it wouldn't let me put them on record, so if you can put programmes on record then you are subscribed. I hope this makes sense! Greg

Just had the following email:

Hi Ian

Thanks for your recent enquiry about our new HD channels and how they will affect your VIP package.

We are currently re-evaluating our whole VIP package but this can take some time but by early 2011 we'll be able to let you know what the changes will be. In the meantime we are pleased to let you know that if you want the HD channels adding to your account we will manually discount the charge, so it's free for the next 6 months.

We really appreciate your feedback about the new HD channels, and we hope you're really happy about the outcome.

Just so you know the changes will be shown on your bill as a £7.00 charge for the HD channels, there will also be a £7.00 discount showing under refunds and adjustments.

If you agree to this discount, you will be entering a new 12 month contract. Can you please reply to this e-mail advising me if you wish for me to action the changes on your account. Also please could you include your account information as this was not included in your original complaint.

You can contact my office between 9.00 am – 17.00 pm if you have any further questions regarding this.

Kind regards

Diane

I got the same email too a couple hours ago, have replied by email and signed up as I dont intend leaving anytime soon so a new contract is not a problem for me.

I also suggested they carry out a survey of VIPers to get a broader range of opinions other than all from forums.

No complaints from me on VM's handling of this and fingers crossed the revamp really will be worth the wait.

If you email neil.berkett@virginmedia.co.uk about this, your case will be assigned to Diane or one of her colleagues.

I don't think it's a good idea to post Diane's email address or phone number on here without her permission.

This confuses me IF TRUE.

Diane is saying that the HD channels WILL be included in the VIP package at no extra cost* (no idea what the * represents).

If this is the case why do we have to chase her to get the £7 credit now and why the 12 month contract?

I just contacted the chief Execs office to clarify my position as I had not heard anything since my phone call with Diane on 20th July and was told that the Sky HD channels would be added for no extra charge, they have all the details of people who have contacted them about this.

Hi Brain

The discount is only for 1 of your boxes as the VIP bundle is only 1 HD box and 1 standard box. If you have more boxes you can add the HD but there will be the £7.00 charge.

I had the same email about the £7 discount and the 12 month contract. I replied asking if

1) as I'm entering a new 12 month contract will the price be the same as new customers. i.e. £82.50 for 6 months then £89.50.

2) Why is it a new 12 month contract as premium channels only normally need to be kept for 30 days?

No reply yet.

Some people are never happy! So they offer to give you the HD channels free and then you ask for another discount? If I was Virgin Media, I'd tell some people where to go.

Surely the new customers would be paying the £7 anyway, bringing their price to the same as yours?

But it's not though is it! It's £91.49 not £89.50. I'm not asking for another discount, I'm asking for consistency.

I agree with anap.

we as customers should always push for the best deal possible, even if it does look unreasonable.

Put it this way.. how many of us would walk into a furniture store, and pay the cash price for a new sofa, without even trying to haggle?

Couple of years back, around xmas time. Virgin Media stated that existing customers would get the same deals as new customers. They said a lot of other things as well, but they've not even tried to keep that promise at all!!

Does anyone remember that?

The thing is, I can accept a new customer getting several months at a discounted price. However when this period is over and they go up to standard prices, I'd expect those standard prices to be the same for everyone. That doesn't appear to be the case with the VIP pack. The new customer offer is £82.50 for 6 months, which then increases to the "standard" price of £89.50 (plus seemingly an extra £1 off for e-billing, taking it to £88.50). A long term customer with e-billing seems to be paying £92.49? This doesn't seem right to me.

Do agree with you matey,VM do need a restructure of prices and bundles.Which they are doing with the VIP package,It is crazy how everyone is paying different prices for same products. But as stated above the same thing is happening at SKY

Hehe, I am considering acting on this considering I am a VIPer with two V+ boxes and 50Mbit.

However coming to think of it, I would like to upgrade to their 100Mbit when that goes live. This makes me wonder what is best to do. I know I am out of the 12 months for everything and will definitely be calling retentions.

I just wonder what is the best to do considering I want the new channels, but also the new speed coming out later this year.

Any advice on how I could approach this would be greatly appreciated.

I can see the 50mb joining the VIP Package but not the 100mb, you would have to pay extra for 100mb.

100mb is only the start with the future BB and TV service been linked all fututre TV will be streamed via BB and not via satalite and so on.

Yeah, I am not too concerned about paying extra for the 100Mbit, however we want to get the new channels, and considering we are out of the 12 month contract I am considering retentions. I don't want to call tomorrow and change it, if it means 3 months down the line the VIP packs change and I am stuck within a 12 month contract for the new channels.

I remember asking a little ago if it was correct that new VIPers ultimately paid £4pm less £88.50pm after their initial discount ran out, whilst the likes of customers who have been on VIP for years were paying £92.49pm.
I was told by VM CS posters that this was not the case and that everybody new or old pays £92.49pm after initial discounts, I really don't know what to believe anymore.

Hi

My VIP bill reads:-

Telephone Rental = £ 11.99
Talk Unlimited = £ 7.95
TV size XL ( Less Loyalty Discount) = £ 2.00
Broadband XL ( less ebilling discount) = £ 36.00
Sky Package ( Movies + Sports) = £ 27.50
HD Sky package = £ 7.00

Is it worth trying for a bit more discount with VIP package maybe getting some extra recongnition at last?

Regards

Total = £ 92.44

Just had engineer here replacing our V+box with a new shiny samsung (nice box) and he does not know why we do not have the HD channels on yet. He phoned Virgin and they said it was on my account and will be on sometime in the next 24 hours and then phoned another engineer who said he was testing the channels and they are working fine, so he said give it 3 hours and phone customer services

It's "Very Impressive Package" not "Very Important Person" :)

IF they did do a VIP+ then it's just more choice.. pay a little more and get more :)

Well thats just silly...LMAO Only Virgin would try and reinvent a well established acronym...

If they did offer more choice that would be cool. I could pay more for even more services that do not work properly LOL

Kidding.....:erm:

Just to let you know, Phoned CEO's office this morning, asked about £7.00 discount ( thanks to the forum) for HD package as I am on VIP, was told told, off course sir, went live about 1 hr ago, was also told only for 6months as new packages due , no mention of 12 month contract
All I can say , excellent service!!
I have been with cable since its start in SE London and can say that when you get all the crease ironed out it is great, ( so long as you don'nt have to talk to the sub continent)

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Hi all,

I have read the thread with interest and have the following to say:

I been a VIP customer since the V+ box was introduced and was suitably impressed with the package - especially as the broadband was routinely upgraded to match the fastest that VM offered - until 50MB came out.

I currently pay £93.74 service charges as follows:

Telephone Rental £11.99
Talk International £1.50
Talk Mobile £1.50
Talk Unlimited £7.95
TV XL £24.50
Additional V Box £15.00
V+ HD Box £10.00
Add STB Disc. -£9.50
Phone, TV, BB Saving -£34.95
BB XL £37.00
Paper Bill Charge £1.25

Movies & Sports £27.50

I have now removed the Paper Billing, but this still puts me at £92.49 - £3/month dearer than a new customer (after their initial period runs out).

Armed with the information from this thread, I used the customer contact email page and ask the question about being overcharged and also about the £7 discount for VIP customers for teh Sky HD channels. Here are the [editied] replies to my queries:

Thanks for your e-mail to Virgin Media about the charges applied to your account for the VIP package.

We are sorry you feel you've been overcharged for your services.

No explanation or indication that the guy had actually looked into this...

We are sorry to inform you that the £7.00 discount for VIP customers subscribing to the Sky Premium channels in HD is not available. You can view the Sky Sports and Movies collection in HD for a monthly charge of £7.00 per box.

This seems to contradict what others have been told in this thread.

I think my next step will be to try a phone call to customer services and failing that an email to Neil Berkett...any advice anyone?

I have read the thread with interest and have the following to say:

I been a VIP customer since the V+ box was introduced and was suitably impressed with the package - especially as the broadband was routinely upgraded to match the fastest that VM offered - until 50MB came out.

I currently pay £93.74 service charges as follows:

Telephone Rental £11.99
Talk International £1.50
Talk Mobile £1.50
Talk Unlimited £7.95
TV XL £24.50
Additional V Box £15.00
V+ HD Box £10.00
Add STB Disc. -£9.50
Phone, TV, BB Saving -£34.95
BB XL £37.00
Paper Bill Charge £1.25

Movies & Sports £27.50

HI I and many others are receiving the discount. Go straight to the top and email Neil Burkett's Office like all of us others did and you will get the discount.

The VIP customers have got the discount by emailing Neil Berkett, not by contacting CS.

I would do it that way.

Well I just called up and found out I am no longer in a 12 month contract. I also found out the Sky HD Channels are on a 30 day rolling contract not 12 months. So once these new VIP packages are launched I will see how it works out from there.

I phoned retentions this morning and they gave me £9.05 discount! Now paying £87.94 for VIP with an extra V Box with a new 12 month contract. I'm still waiting for the HD channels to kick in though!
