Oh dear. Switzerland go 1-0 up against Spain...
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I think gone are the days when the big teams are assured a win against the smaller teams
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
wtf is happening... Spain lost how??? Brazil okay probably with their C team only put 2 goals into NK with getting 1 in their own net, none of the big clubs are playing that well other then the germans.
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
That wasn't a Brazil C team, it's just Brazil under Dunga aren't the free flowing, beautiful game team which Brazil are reknowned for.
Like i've said before; minnows in international football are a rarity nowadays. The gap has closed and thank goodness. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Very open WC so far.
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Anyone tried this ?

|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Viva la Mexico :D
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Poetic justice, the cheating frogs 99% certain to be on their way home, beaten by a team playing in green. :D
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
bloody heck so whats the score... Spain lost 1st game, French are bloody hopeless, England hasnt performed great either... is there a team out there that is looking promising?
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
 Well done Mexico, after their England warm-up match I said that they might suprise a few people
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
but Kymmy, both Holland and England beat Mexico. so I think more the surprise is how bad the french team has become. I think even a team like the Faroes would've beaten them.
Also look at their qualifiers they only got to the WC because of Henry's hand ball. |

I never said the Mexicans would win the world cup ;) , but who'd have pegged them to beat France in such a convincing game..
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
My prediction for tonight
3-1 to England :D (which probably means that Algeria will win 6-0) |

would that be such a miss Kymmy ;)

The ref in the Germany Serbia game is crap.
can a 10-man germany pull a goal back. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
And they could not but it wasn't for the want of trying.
Podolski should have done better with his penalty  |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
is it safe to watch the game in hd tonight .lol
the ghana v germany game could be a good game to watch if ghana beat australia tomorrow. as a england fan would like both us and germany to finish top of our groups so we miss each other next round |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
But doubtful if England will finsh top, Slovenia won their first game and are 2-0 up in the USA game. Only saving grace is after Germany's performance they might not win their group either so that will suit England
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Bad refereeing cost Germany that match but all the real teams are losing their matches - due to dodgy balls probably, free kicks have been awesomely bad.
BBC are reporting that David James is 'likely' goalie tonight. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...10/8747673.stm |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
dodgy balls, PMSL.. Any excuse.. ALL teams had access to the balls months and months ago
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
The USA equalize. Good news for England if it stays this way.
|

It was better for England if USA lost, we were literaly sure of 2nd place

Do you honestly think that the England team couldn't have gone out and got a set of balls within 24 hours?? Also they could have bought a set of footballs almost the same speed.. ;)
The USA/Slovenia game was great, fantastic comeback by the yanks and upto that point the Ref was doing great. Shame that one mistake can always ruin a match |

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Nope, If England lose it'll be the following
The USA have 2 points, Slovenia 4 and Algeria 3 with England 1, USA though would have to lose and England would have to win thier last games by a convincing margin (two clear goals) for it to be USA 2, Algeria 6 England 4 and Slovenia 4 with England going through on goal difference Now would you like this girl to explain the off-side rule to ya :p: |

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I wasn't too confident before the WC and now i've lost all spirit.
The wrong squad, the wrong positions, the wrong tactics, complete lack of organisation... and all points to the same thing: wrong manager. Our qualification results flattered us. Everyone expected us to kick up a gear but we're going backwards. It will be amazing if we make it out of the group stages at the moment. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
England certainly aren't playing like they give a toss about the WC. Either that or they're being ultra cautious.
|

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I know they didnt win the prem but does anyone else wish it was Man Utd as England? The England team just never seem to gel :( I was hoping for 3-1 by this point. The players are meant to be the best the country has to offer but they just cant seem to work together. I still think we will go through though
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I was saying to the missus that if the England team was in the Premiership we would struggle to qualify for the Europa league.
And now I hear that SWP is coming on FFS. And now he's taking off Lennon who is our most productive player by a mile. What a joke. ---------- Post added at 20:50 ---------- Previous post was at 20:48 ---------- How can anyone, even Capello say that the weakest link in the was Lennon? I am just flabbergasted. |

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
If I was in the crowd I wouldnt boo, what will it achieve? Will do more harm than good. I doubt anyone questioned the manager in quals, its the teams fault end of. Hes a world class manager
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Capello just gave an interview and he didn't appear to give a toss. Says it all really.
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
The amount of times lampard, gerrad and rooney gave the ball away was shocking. There were times where they couldn't find a man 5 yards away. Surely noone can blame capello for that! What you can blame him for was not taking lamps off and replacing him with joe cole with 25 min to go.
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Rooney should STFU.
When fans pay thousands to travel around the world to see their team in a World Cup -and get that - they are entitled to boo. Its not all Rooney's fault but it's not like he was amazing either was it? A joke to cheer us up: The England team went to visit an orphanage in South Africa. "It's so good to put a smile on the faces of people with no hope, constantly struggling and facing the impossible".... said Jamal Mboto, aged 6. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa

I didnt say they werent entitled to boo but really what positive can it achieve? Its just stupid IMO yey lets demoralise a team that already dont seem to be playing well together :erm:

Sometimes you need to pat people on the back and say "there, there, never mind eh?" And sometimes you need to say "Buck your ideas up sunshine". I think the blame ultimately lies up Capello's door, but even with a lousy manager the team should be able to carry themselves through to a point. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I think this shows what Capello thought about the match.

2) He is not playing in his usual role 3) He is our best player but that's not saying much. The papers and commentators that put him up there with Messi and such were setting him up for a fall ---------- Post added at 22:43 ---------- Previous post was at 22:41 ---------- Quote:

I don't think we qualified in style at all. The results on paper flattered us. The performances weren't that good at all. We scored against the run of play in a few of them or played weak opposition. The only match that stands out is the Croatia match and that was a while ago now. The rot has been there a while. We've given Capello time and space and we're just going backwards. |

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Damn, I didn't want to have to say this, but I do feel the prevalence of 'non English' players in the Premier League tends to stifle the potential of the players actually eligible to represent their country.
Couple that with the recent tendency to recruit foreign managers for the England team & I wonder why we have so many England flags flying? I'd rather we bowed out of the World Cup with dignity, under an English manager, with a team based on the best our local clubs could recruit through their youth schemes, than with a second eleven under an Italian with a limited resource? |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Millionaires don't seem to have the motivation to play well for England. They have it all already :).

|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
i fell asleep watching that riveting performance .
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I can sort of see what Rooney was on about, it's what you lot always do especially in the media, in the run-up to the finals everywhere you look it's "we can do it this time" etc then as soon as you have a bad game you turn on your team. I'm just waiting for the "fabio must go" headlines. But then again if Rooney doesn't want the fans booing then maybe he shouldn't play like a Sunday league striker. Actually I thought SWP had a pretty decent game, he almost stood out.
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Some players have the same attitude as film stars, don't criticise me just pay your money, agree with anything I say and go home quietly. As for the fan in the dressing room heaven forbid that the great unwashed should get near the players, before you know it the players will have to deign to speak to their fans.
Watching football or any other sport is about opinions and passion and if this includes booing after the match then so be it. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
There are fans in South Africa who have given up their jobs just to watch England in the World Cup and all they get are 11 individuals on the pitch who seem to have no idea of team work. Is it any surprise they were booed.
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Some of the England team should have gone to "Specsavers" then they would be able to see who they were passing the ball to because they for sure last night they couldn't figure out who was wearing the white shirts.
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
The whole performance was a disgrace, all those fans have worked very hard to save up all that money to see a so called England team, attempt to win a cup, and they have been let down, by a pathetic overpaid ponces, l have seen better football on a Sunday morning. And that Rooney comment, well this is very typical of the arrogant git, he should have been taken off and someone else put on, Heskey should never have gone, getting into the next round, no chance.
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Normally I always try to be extremely positive about the teams I support, but last night I watched every minute of the game, turned off the TV and went to bed. There was nothing I could think to say about that match..
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
In all seriousness though, England will qualify from the group.... wont they? Does anyone genuinely believe SLovenia will take any points on Wednesday?
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
They took won against Algeria who England could only draw with...
England seriousy need to reshape that team because if they come out with the same tactics on Thurdays (I think we play again then) then it'll seriously dent faith in them from both their players and the fans before they even kick off |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
There haven't been many good games so far, but last night's England match was dire. They didn't seem to be a Plan A never mind a Plan B, the team were milling around seemingly making it up as they went. Where was the leadership, where was the belief. I felt sad for those supporters who had spent an awful lot of money to be there.

How can a bunch of players who were playing together for most of the qualifiers, getting decent results and playing some not bad football suddenly become so disjointed, pathetic and clueless? The amount of times i laughed last night was ridiculous, if it was a comedy show it was a 10/10. My funniest was when Heskey was wide right, went to try and take on the full back only to stumble around a bit then nearly fall over  . Any Argentinian or Brazilian watching must have been cocking himself  As for Rooney being one of the worlds best players  "you`re avin a laugh...!" p.s. Gerrard and Lampard should not be in the same team... |
