I know you have to take anything on it with a pinch of salt but I don't think that it was as simple as buying BSB to asset strip anymore so than ntl bought Telewest for the same reason

It was removed from Freeview so that 'Yesterday' could expand it's broadcasting hours

Just a note, I remember that when I started with my current email address I was automatically given a selection of options based on my name. I chose one of those, most incidentally had a "." as the 3rd character.... sorry just thought I'd share that whilst waiting for Ben lol!:)

I can see the potential for Sky Content being force separated from the delivery platform before too long. There is growing public disquiet at Murdoch's strangle hold over the media sector and this deal only contributes to this, in the end this could actually hurt Murdoch more in the long run than it could Virgin.

Sorry if this has already been asked/answered but what does this sale mean for Virgin's stake in UKTV? Have they retained it or has that gone to BSkyB too? If they've retained it than this deal is amazing for Virgin because I'd have thought that the UKTV stake is a bigger asset than any of their 100% owned channels.

I have successfully registered at Sports and movies like you've never seen them before using e-mail addresses of the form:-

1. firstname.lastname@ntlworld.com
2. firstname_lastname@ntlworld.com

In each case, firstname and lastname are five characters in length.

That one looks set to rumble though i think vms flack is aimed at ofcom and not sky on the above.

I think it will not affect any deal done since and that vms relationship with sky itself seems to have improved somewhat.

Certainly i cannot see it affecting the sale of vms channels to sky.

Well they are going after Ofcom to get them to go after Sky to get a better bundle price for the Sky Sports channels. It's still surely going to rattle Sky's cage.

here lies why VM should not sold them they was a very good tool bargaining tool would sky have caved in without VM have its own popular channels.

VM board of directors must be the most naive business men on the planet to not think Sky will want to harm its competitors.

Sky will obviously make it expensive to purchase channels or try even witheld channels.

I full expect Sky to remove channels again at some point to try and retest how many people to goto Sky. This time it will likely work as once these channels go VM will be no better than freeview/freesat and damn more expensive.

Sky caved in because people did not move in droves to make it viable to continue I think only 600k walked to sky people had VM based channels to keep they happy and the new launched Virgin 1.

I also believe once Sky inititates it again american based channels with possible influence from sky may decide to walk too if VM lose big numbers.

I fear this could be the first sparing to the demise of VM. Sky have more power and VM have less tools to prevent mass exodus. Sky know this I fully expect Ofcom will become toothless or disapear under tory.

Sadly that will leave me with freeview only cant go sky but would not want to anyway there greed stinks.

Not sure if this was Virgin Media's doing or if Sky are quick of the mark but two new shows are heading to Living, the remake of Nikita and The Chase.

Nice to see new content will still be appearing on the channel and that more of an effort will be made to air near US boradcasts as in the case with Nikita.
