Oh, and windows update and Firefox update can both be switched off, this one can't be to my knowledge. (Without deleting the file)

Personally I'd rather have up-to-date protection, but whatever your preferences I guess.

Come off it mate, of course we like upto date things, but windows doesn't check every 10 minutes, and nor does Firefox... That's just excessive ;)

Yeah Comodo would be driving me demented over that...and just for a browser. The only application I would want to update that often would be my AV and only because there was a threat...:erm:

Funnily enough using Chrome for a few days has made me seek out other browsers and I have to say I'm quite impressed with Safari, it's now my default :)

(cue a smug comment from Chris T ;))

Oi! I'm not an Apple fanboy. :p:

Actually I use FF3 on my Mac, Safari's a very nice, clean, fast browser, but you just can't tweak it the way you can tweak the Fox. :D

I kinda liked it too - I liked the look of Chrome but didn't trust it enough to install it :)

Almost get the best of both worlds this way.

I've stopped using it for the time being. It had a dislike for Java and Flash.

A few problems with it I've discovered from usage.
  • The right click features have problems
  • It tends to auto-fill your username/password into places it shouldn't be doing.
  • Some java is corrupting (simple things like the SAVE button being shown as VOTE NOW when editing posts in here.
  • Crashed it on the video pages of the bbc news site quite often

Nice idea, although one of the nicest things about Chrome is that it puts the tabs at the top ... which this skin doesn't (apparently can't) do.

Plus, I didn't know about the Robots easter egg in Firefox until I saw those screenshots. :D

Google will be committing a lot of what they did in Crome back into WebKit, Basically if you use Safari on OSX or iPhone you may see some Crome freatures implemented eventually.

re: Google Launches Internet Browser - Chrome

I use wwitv.com a lot (not a typo!) and I find that Chrome has so far been the best browser for watching live tv in this capacity. The vido player launches seamlessly at the top left (default) and any windows that pop up (usually ones related to the channel I'm watching) are closed without any disruption to my viewing. As for the bbc iPlayer - again, it's just about the best browser for that purpose as it's just proved to be the slickest thing out there for that kind of thing....
Everything else about Chrome - no java support and any wep pages I scroll down, I can't scroll back up.... plus, I don't like the lack of options available either. But... it is still a test model and on the whole, I do like it a teensy-weensy bit.
If Chrome was more geared towards streamed media content and made that its main goal and if the next release they could tweak a few things and make it even faster, then I'd say that this browser could end up being my second choice browser after IE...
(Firefox is first and will always be my prefered browser of choice..!)
:D

It won't minimize.

It uses up the whole screen.

I can't see my start menu bar thingy.

I'll get a screenshot.

It looks like Google Chrome will eventually support add-ons just like Firefox.

Anyone here who likes Chrome but not the privacy intrusion and updater.exe problems, will like this:

Developers have created Iron. Takes the Chrome source code but they stripped out all the privacy-sensitive code.

Just re downloaded the final version, faster than Opera IMO.

re: Google Launches Internet Browser - Chrome

The Opera 10 Preview build, with the enhancements in Presto 2.2 smokes everything else in my experience in speed terms.

Personally I am not a fan of apple anyway, and I am not really that keen on Webkit either. For me, Chrome is just a rehash of existing technology it doesn't bring anything new or revolutionary to the table that other browsers don't have, my only use for it would be as a cutdown, and low resource consuming browser for use on older PC's

Anyone here using Chrome?

Has it moved on much since when it first came out?

IIRC, two of the things which put me off continuing to use it in favour of Firefox were the lack of any equivalents to AdBlock and NoScript. I don't suppose that's changed now?

Look up Adsweep.

However, Version 4 will have addons (or so they said).
We're on V3 right now.

Looks something like the attached image ;)

EDIT: Don't go to the zShare link, it's a song with explicit lyrics, honestly, not suitable for anyone. Thanks facepunch.com :(

Hello
I've tried Google Chrome and couldn't find anything good about it. Not that I found anything wrong with it, but I couldn't see any advantages. Apaarently it is faster, but I didn't find that. It couldn't display certain graphics in Ebay, but I did like tab system, but since uninstalling it and using the new updated Vista, I have that facility.

I may be overlooking something, but what is the advantage, apart from speed which I didn't notice.

I have been using google chrome ever since it is launched. I have to agree that google chrome is a much better internet explorer, I am not sure if it tops firefox as I haven't really tried it. What iv'e realised it with my laptop I can open up 100+ (Intel Centrino Duo 2.0ghz + 1gb Kingston RAM) separate google chrome browsers and my laptop is still running smooth as ever, however when i approached IE8 I opened up 25 browsers until my computer crashed and a beeping sound start alarming for the first time with my laptop (guessing its indicating memory RAM issues) forcing me to shut my laptop down.
