It was rather clumsy form Lovren TBH.

Liverpools' defence AWOL again near the end with that free header. :(

Should have done enough to get through though.

Making my first visit of the season to Boundary Park (Sports Direct.com Park) to watch the Latics v Latics.

Given Oldham's very poor start to the season this could be as one sided as a Roughyheads v Warriors oval ball match, might even be a similar score.:(

Still, I have got complimentary seats, free bar and pie & peas included. :)

Come on Oldham. :)

South Shields v Bridlington is live on BBC connected online. FA Cup Preliminary tie. Much better than premiership crap. Cool coverage too, one camera, no replays, lots of nasty fouls, about 100 a swearing spectators... The changing room looks to be a garden shed :)

Just home from Old Trafford, Manchester mega busy due to four day Manchester pride Festival.

Jose summed it up perfectly, "solid", a good game to watch.

The Foxes started out like West Ham two weeks ago, packed defence and rarely venturing over the half way line. TBH they did a very good job of it but unlike so many games last season I always felt United would score eventually.

No real stand out performances apart from Phil Jones who was impressive once again.

And our star Belgian striker comes up with a goal as well.:D

Harry Maguire looks a steal and a class act as well.

Re: Season 2017/2018

After cryptic conformation that Benitez would likely quit at the seasons end. I'm coming to the conclusion that it's not unreasonable to suggest he could in fact walk tomorrow after a disastrous transfer window, Newcastle have the rest of their day to save their manager. After being lumped with £100m, the board just forget to tell he'd have to reduce the wage bill first. Something which isn't happening and thus they botched the list of players he gave them.

Mike Ashley and Newcastle only has himself to blame if Rafa walks away as they don't seem to realise what a top manager he is.

Well with Sanchez leaving and Arsenal bidding £92 million for Lemar on transfer deadline day he will be lucky to last until the end of the year.:)

Yes they might be in the 3rd division but if my memory serves me your beloved were there not that long ago and if they keep picking the wrong manager ;):p: it might not be long before they end up there again.:p:

Mickey Mouse in your opinion they may be but their history at least includes two top tier league titles which of course the second side in Hampshire can only ever dream about.:p:;)

They lost any history by going bankrupt twice robbing local businesses and charities, the current incarnation has no history. New club new beginning. :)

Watching places like r/soccer and twitter for the deadline day transfers is like watching a pack of angry little old ladies fighting over black Friday deals.

One does wonder why many clubs leave it so late.

Is understood that Newcastle have rejected an £18m bid for Dwight Gayle, which also nods to Newcastle not signing a striker today, or anyone for that matter.

Some quotes about the transfer spending this summer.

Quote:

The Premier League may have gone money crazy, but they are still being blown out of the water by PSG it seems as they sign Kylian Mbappe on a season-long loan, with an option to buy next summer.

Quote:

Will this spending continue?Yes, says Tim Bridge from Deloitte who says the big clubs are now so big on a global scale that the trend will continue to go up

Is just an opinion piece, been a few of those this summer, listed nothing to support it at all, cack like that should be banned from media. As I wrote above, it's not unreasonable to suggest he'd quit, I think he could, it's presenting that as fact that's the issue.

The best piece I've seen is one where Rafa is directly blamed along with the board.

Quote:

But we can't absolve Rafa Benitez from some of the blame as a lot of his signings needed to be unloaded - wasting money, time and effort - and now disgruntled and mismanaged players still remain at the club (Darlow, Haidara, Colback, Gayle, Mitrovic).
He'd signed a lot of players at championship level on silly wages. Something that Newcastle fans seem to be avoiding talking about, but eventually they'll turn on him.

Wife needs to know if United are at home the weekend Oct 7th.

I can only find a game on 30th Sept and the next one on 14 Oct. Is that week being used for the next round of World Cup qualifiers?

Re: Season 2017/2018

Gareth Southgate's Managerial highlights:

Relegated Middlesbrough.
Managed England U21's
Won 4 of 9 games as England manager thus far. 4.

Plays a keeper that literally cost us games in the Euro's, solid message to send, your place isn't in doubt regardless of how awful you manage to play.. Hart's then backed him right up on that tonight :D I mean blame Rashford for it all, but what on earth is Hart doing there? he just stops dead in front of the man and watches it coast past him. Make yourself big? or make yourself as useless as possible in this case. Did he forget he's allowed to handle the ball? Or is this Russia again where we've made the decision it's already a goal so he's not gonna bother trying.

Bang on about Rooney all you want I guess but the reality is, there's no leader on that pitch.

English players are also overpaid , over-rated , spineless and lack any type of tactical in game intelligence plus they appoint crap unproven managers on top of that..
