Congrats to boxing fans.

Would that we were able to subscribe to other channels we've been waiting (longer) for.

Maybe for all we know Virgin Media will do an Cinemoi on us - Giving us BoxNation for two months until the end of Jan. 2012.

You do not know what Virgin are up to.

Yes that would be a nice little bonus if we got it free for 2 months.

Well the champions league final was simulcast on SKY sports and ITV HD in may, the production company was exactly the same except sky had 5.1 and itv didn't, not even on freesat.. the exact same satellite that sky broadcasts on. Given the ITv and BBc both started to test HD transmission at the same time, the BBC always test broadcast a 5.1 signal even if it was psuedo, ITV never have. Maybe they don't have a real interest in it, where if you listen to BBC content producers they do have a real passion for producing programes with emersive sound and video.
In years to come ITV will probably be about as relevent as Channel 5.

A bit off topic so apologies , does anyone know whether movies are now ending up on Box Office sooner ? Cars 2 was released today on Blu-Ray/3D and DVD and is available also on PPV on Sky BO/HD and PPV on Sky 3D , its similar to the Lion King 3D which is available this month free to Sky 3D customers.

could they be doing it to try and fool the competition commission? As they maybe trying to say look we are giving overs access to all the movies ( sky anytime) And also we are using them at the same time?

Not sure I just thought that generally a movie was released on DVD a good few weeks before PPV.

I'd like to think so, but as long as they have mass-appeal reality shlock like X-Factor it ain't gonna happen.

Production values are so poor on ITV channels though, no mistake. Regularly I see timecodes and title cards popping up before or after a program, proving whoever is in the backroom dealing with transitions is a complete muppet, or team of muppets. Also, ITV have the worst quality streams on their SD channels, especially on Freeview. They're so low bitrate there is regular aliasing/quantisation noise. All this before I run down the quality of the programs themselves! :D

Filmflex had similar deals with Alice In Wonderland and Clash Of The Titans. In fact couldn't you watch Clash Of The Titans on Filmflex 48 hours before it's DVD release? Wasn't there also a deal to pay around £14.99 to watch the movie and a copy of the DVD would be posted to you within 3 days.

I'm sure Filmflex have had many other films available either just before or on the same day as the DVD release. These are the only 2 titles I remember off the top of my head. Both were also available in 3D too.

It's probably itv that don't have the technical stuff to broadcast the DD signal then.

I do not know about PPV Movies.

But it look like Virgin has signed an new deal with Sky for PPV Sports.

Has anyone else note that you can now buy you event FIVE days before broadcast on Sky Sports Box Office (WWE) and your event is now being shown for longer on Virgin TV.

Any Live sports event you has to buy on the day of that event and Virgin only broadcasts the replayed for an day after.

But starting with WWE Suvivor Series 2011 you now watch it from 9am till 12midnight every day til Thursday night.

on all Virgin Media Boxes.

From this article it sadly seems to be that ESPN (no old firm games) are happy to be SKY junior partners in relation to UK sports rights. There live sport on Sunday was rubbish, no live UK based sport!

I only watch ESPN when any of the big three are being shown (Motherwell, Rangers and Celtic)

but if Virgin remove ESPN from the XL Package I for one will not be paying to get ESPN in when I can hear them for free on BBC Radio Scotland.

I only watch Rangers and Celtic on ESPN. I don't watch any other football. The only other thing I watch on ESPN is Friday Night Fights. I agree that if ESPN is removed from XL, I would never pay for it.

I miss Setanta Sports. Now there was a company not scared to punch above their weight. A real challenger to SKY. Sadly their model didn't work and they couldn't pay for the rights they had. Sad really.

ESPN have been a massive disappointment.
