The problem is at big clubs now is generally you don't get time and Wenger is a one off in terms of managers still managing now who have been there for a long time.

The bottom line for owners now is qualify for the Champions League and if they don't then the managers will generally get the sack at the end of the season.

Liverpool didn't fire David Brent when he wasn't doing well last year either.

Yes but he isn't. He is managing a team that has more money, is higher in the league, and for whom he has just signed. Mourinho is not taking over United. I would like us to sign Ronaldo this window but it's not going to happen. Who do you think could take over from Moyes who is a feasible candidate?

Depends on who would consider it. Pep Guardiola would be the name I'd offer you if I'm being pressed. A good relationship with SAF and experience with big clubs.

There is no one who can step into that job without a problem given the problems the squad has and the sheer success his predecessor had. You need to give him time to adapt to the job and build a new squad. Arsenal were poor at times last year and so were Liverpool and this year they're flying, it's the consequence of stability. You would have been amongst the fans that wanted Ferguson out when he also had a bad start.

No not quite. Bad analogy because United today are a world apart from the club they were in SAF's first few years. They were more of a 'cup team' back then. The whole brand and business model was different, the attacking style of football was almost non existent. The step-up from Aberdeen to United (of 1986) was not as big as Everton to United of today.

But the 'new guy' has to show something, anything to indicate he's capable of the job! Which is what Moyes has easily failed to do.

United had their chance at Mourinho and it seems like they snubbed him. Why would he bother now? AVB is free I've heard.

Don't want to understand it Russ and I'd like to move on but it's tricky with the constant updates of your multi club existence.

Again though he has just signed for Munich. I think United isn't an attractive job right now, the squad needs a lot of work, there isn't as much money as City or Chelsea, and they'll be following someone who set a standard they're extremely unlikely to meet. Moyes may not be perfect but he has been given a impossible task and I think he is the man you need to back to get it done. Someone has to do it.

No but then there is no template for taking over United. A club where the manager was as successful, a club which was built around that one man, and a club where the manager was there for so long. Arsenal will be keeping a close eye on how United do this though.

If Arsenal even think about signing Berbatov, they must be stupid. Spurs got rid of him as he was useless and is a player that is not loyal.

As for Walcott, they FA will not be charging him with any offence. If that was Joe Bloggs in the street, we would have been taken from the crowd and charged with an offence, and likely to land up in court.

His gesture was like a incitement to riot, it was a stupid thing to do as especially in front of the Spurs fans - Ok the fans should not have thrown coins, but Walcott should not have made the gesture in the first place.

One rule for one and not the other. IF, Walcott had played for a lower league club, the FA would xcruicify them.
