A couple of people telling other people what 'they' thought was appropriate to post is what caused this discussion. They should just concern themselves with their own posts and skip ones that don't interest them.

Many posters do quite clearly ignore various posts on here. Some do respond to posts regarding SA by questioning why we talk about on here, others respond with rumours of launch dates. As I understand it, this would classed as taking part in a discussion on SA. Their opinions on the subject are surely as valid as any others. Just because you do not agree with them, does not mean no-one can post them. Perhaps I am being obtuse and misunderstanding the definition of discussion though.

BIB - Ironically, I don't think it's appropriate for you tell people what they can and can not post on here either. If they feel a post/discussion is not relevant, they are allowed to say so, I am not aware of anything that says they to bite their tongue. It seems rather like a "pot and kettle" situation here.
You have no right to say people should just concern themselves with their posts just because they want to question the validity of other posts or discussions. Obviously the post interested them in the first place, so they have the right to reply to it and not skip past it.

You choose not to skip past some posts on SA, why should others have to skip it.

Hopefully though, you will only concern yourself with your own posts on this matter and skip this post because it does not interest you. I certainly do not want this to drag on.

And the last 5-6 pages are a complete waste of internet space, can a mod just delete them? ;)

In fairness, I don't think he was. I was quite critical of BT prior to launch although I have been impressed with their coverage since, but there's aatot.

MB I get the general impression that insider information has dried up in, say, the last 6 months compared to the few years before that- is that right?

I think that is more down to the fact that there isn't actually many more channels virgin doesn't have and are in a position both financially viable or third party willing to acquire.

Depending on Media Boy's reply, that was mynext question. Has he, in his 7 years, known a similar period of quiet, and what happened either side of it?

I think you've nailed it really. There's really no news for anyone to leak or report because the platform is now quite mature. We'll see more on-demand services, more HD versions of channels, and eventually 4k versions too, the roll-out of Local TV, ad-hoc launches like BBC1+1 and maybe some extra channels added from providers at renewal time. But we'll see nothing as exciting as before, unless there is significant industry restructuring or Virgin decides to look at more non-English-speaking channels.

The really good thing about significant change is that it invariable happens when you least expect it !

Bar the HD Channels, CSC Media Channels and Sky Basic Channels nothing good left for Virgin to go after.

Try living in an old Telewest area. I want mad every time I saw new channels being added to NTL.

(Telewest was poor that adding new channels)

Fair enough, I know there was a few posters on this thread that said they were just a flash in the pan similar to Setanta and several other posters dismissing that thought.
