No I'm asking you to advise what is currently wrong with the SuperHub that would neccessitate an exception to the current product rules for 100Mbit that says that it comes with the SuperHub?

Personally, since the introduction of the modem mode for the SuperHub, I'm not aware of any that would cause Virgin to allow an exception and let someone use a VMNG300 modem with 100Mbit

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed

I can't say what I would find wrong with the Superhub as I've never used one. There are still plenty of people who object to it, on the basis of e.g. power consumption, layout, extreme light brightness, etc. Modem mode is not the only reason people wanted a VMNG300 over a Superhub, and all I'm saying further faults with the SH may come up in future and given exceptions have been made in the past and continue to be made, I see no reason to say they will never be made again.

No that's true, but it's the only reason they got one

I didn't say everyone should get a free SH, I don't think I've ever said that. Neither did I say everyone should get a standard Hub. I have however said many times that everyone needs to get onto docsis3.. the SH which I stand by. 30£ for a SH with upcoming free doubling is a bargain wouldn't you agree?

and on we go....

v0id's quote was..

However, some users with old modems and other similar hardware will receive new up-to-date equipment free of charge
some old modems > thats a fact, there are land fill destined modems on the network or recycle/proper disposal for the tree huggers.

unless you've miss quoted or piggy backed my post I don't understand why you've posted what you have.

Depending on the tier, you may not need new kit e.g most of those going from 10Mbit to 20Mbit wont need a new modem

Ben,
Could you be more specific please. I have the blue NTL 250 modem, is that ok for 20Mbit?

Yes it will be

But anyway, Virgin will let customers know if they need an equipment upgrade to get the speed increase

100Mbit customers go to 120Mbit and will also be getting a price reduction

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed

Just to clarify thats existing 100Mbit customers that'll be getting a price reduction, not the 50Mbit customers increased to 100Mbit

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed

BenMcr - as a 10mb L customer can I still get a 20mb upgrade instead of getting 30mb and having to pay the £30 activation fee for a superhub
