The last few years we've seen constant increases from all suppliers granted some have been down to Sky (Sky Sports increases) however both VM and BT have also increased prices significantly for things like line rental , XL pack etc in fact all of them have increased prices sometimes considerably over inflation , there all as bad as each other.

Summed up exactly oh great one.

Sorry, I can't reveal my source :D

You're getting the hang of it, but 'scheduled for 2015' was a schoolboy error. Better to leave it as 'coming soon' so that if pressed on a date, you can keep saying 'soon' or 'not long now' ad nauseam. :D

Then stop paying it. People could easily cancel all sports when there is no PL football on. Two or three months of massively lost income for Sky would soon open their eyes!! I don't believe there will be much high class sport being shown on Sky over the summer, so why not try it?
Not that easy Harry, depends on what package you are on!

Clearly I could not stay away long.:(

Where have I said Sky are the only one who puts prices up on anything other than sports? I have only ever been talking about sporting bills. I genuinely do not remember posting about other price increases, please do quote me where I have, and I will gladly eat humble pie. If you van not find any, please apologize for calling me ludicrous. Lets try not to digress from my original points though please.

Oddly enough I know all companies put their prices up, I do get bills after-all.

My point about Sky is that they should drop Sky Sports bills due to the lack of content. To be clearer, any sports bills that increase will be down to Sky not lowering their sports prices. The increases in sport prices will not be solely down to BT getting rights Sky to content Sky no longer have.

It is up to Sky Sports to pass on savings to sports customers, not jack up the price of PL rights.

Jeez.

Jeez.

Within the last few years theyve added F1 , Sky sports in 3D , Sky Sports On Demand , Sky Sports iPad companion apps , increased amount of premier league games , an increase of 37 games per year from the football league , signed new deals for cricket , the CL has a further 18 months to run who knows what other content will be added maybe they'll freeze the cost but it won't go down , people have a choice now if they don't like what they're paying , cancel simple really isn't it.

As long as people pay it Sky will continue to charge its all about supply and demand. Have you ever tried to book a flight abroad during the kids holidays the prices are considerably higher due to the increased demand whether its right or wrong thats life I guess.

It's actually up to Sky Sport to attract customers and make a profit. So far the model of high profile sports rights and expensive subscription packages is a winner so I see no reason why that will change now.

Fwiw it's worth I agree with your ideal, but that is all it is, sadly. And I don't subscribe to Sky Sport either.

Well channels 1 to 5 will never do a HD swap because of their regionalisation. You forgot BBC Three/Four HD. Also bare in mind when a swap happens the SD version is available on another EPG number.

That was from my perspective - in my region ITV HD shows the same local news as ITV, Granada. BBC Two, Channel 4 and Channel 5 could for sure do an HD swap, they have regional advertising but not regional programming. They already swap on Sky. So really BBC One is the only one that couldn't be HD swapped anywhere because there are no regional HD variants.

I didn't forget BBC Three, Four, News, Parliament, CBBC or CBeebies HD. In my fantasy world the HD channel would replace the SD channel on the EPG but you're right in that it probably technically wouldn't be possible/feasible.

Bit of news it looks like Netflix are cerainly not messing around in getting exclusive content http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hea...riginal-654171

Also no new channels set to launch this week as VM will be completing the rollout of the NEW UPDATE.

If I and thousands of others stop paying taxes, go to Westminister and wave a banner about saying I am not paying any more until we get change, I (we) will be arrested and put in jail. It would take many, many millions to effect the government, and then the army will be bought in. Also we get to vote for a different government every four years.

It's not a pipe dream for me. If people want to pay that's fine, more fool them. They just need to stop blaming other people. it can happen. If a luxury food item was massively over priced few people would pay for it. The shops would then stop selling it or lower the prices. Why accept it for a few football games?

Anyway I am going down the same route as I did yesterday. I give up, everyone is right. The regulators, PL, Sky and BT are all in the wrong. Everyone who pays to keep them making an obscene profit (on sport alone) is a victim and should be treated as one. I am out of this forum for a while. You all have my sympathies for your awful sporting predicaments.

I am just annoyed about how the whole system works. Exclusivity deals skew the market and allow monopolistic types to dominate. Such practices should be banned. That way, supply and demand would keep costs lower.

I find it galling that you have not acknowledged my last post though. In post #2800 you also accused me of saying I thought Sky are the only company who put prices up, and said the statement (I don't I think I made) was "frankly ludicrous".

I have asked you to quote said posts or apologize. I do not appreciate you putting words into my mouth which have absolutely no basis in fact (that I can remember). I will say again I am happy to be proved wrong, if you can not find the posts, I will gladly accept your apology for putting words in mouth, and making up a fictitious point you decided to attribute towards me.

I also fail to understand to why you would wish to post such nonsense.

For someone who has such a high amount of reputation points, I find it quite staggering, and somewhat arrogant to act in this way.

Again, if you post the quotes where I have said only Sky put prices up and no-one else does I will happily apologize, I really do not mind being embarrassed on an internet forum and will happily accept any punishment the mods may deem necessary for my behaviour.

Cheers.

Yes, new Sky channels are coming.

I am not a fan of it either, but if Sky/VM/BT pump money into channels, why should they not reap the benefits from it?

We all pay our money and make our choices. If people are unhappy, that is their right, but people can make a different choice. They change something, or put up with their choice. Why moan about it on here, what good does it do? Such points would put to far better use in an e-mail to Sky/VM/BT.

Only going by what I've heard.

Yes the functionality of the app will the the same, but there still needs to be information provided to the CS staff when dealing with customers who have an issue connecting their Android devices, remember it is a different OS and different screens that the CS rep needs to navigate to assist the customers.

Why moan about it on here, what good does it do? Such points would put to far better use in an e-mail to Sky/VM/BT.[COLOR="Silver"]

What I am saying is that the practice should be made unlawful. This would bring about two benefits for the customer. First of all, prices would come down, and secondly, everyone would be able to gain access from any platform.

I don't think we should condone the status quo. It means that to get all the access you want to programmes, you have to subscribe both to VM and Sky. How can that be right?

If true, this would presumably be because of other VM priorities that are technically difficult. Is your source absolutely clear about this, because I don't think Sky or VM want anything to leak out about the launch of the missing Sky channels. Therefore, they won't be discussing this freely within the Virgin Media offices, it will be very hush hush. Just because your contact doesn't know about this doesn't mean it won't happen.

Not that it will effect much here however the long rumoured launch of Boxnation HD, supposedly before the end of this year, seems further away than ever.

http://www.newsuk24.com/news/frank-w...c-bout/related

"SPORTS PROMOTER Frank Warren plans to float Box Nation, the cable television station devoted to boxing that he set up two years ago. Nation Media, the channel’s parent company, hopes to raise about £5m from an AIM listing to fund expansion overseas, buy the rights to more events and create a high-definition version of the station. It is run by Richard Brooke, who was finance director at BSkyB."

I can see what's been done here. SKY Atlantic launched on the 1st February 2011. It's just about to turn 3 years old. The 6th of February is the first available Thursday after SKY Atlantic turns 3, Thursday being a regular launch date for new channels on the Virgin Media platform.

Someone has put a lot of time, effort and thought into this lie.

Well spotted, Chad! I shall be annoyed personally if the Sky deal isn't brought to fruition this year, because that was the original intention. I do know that VM have got a lot on at the moment, but deferring that launch would be most disappointing. Until I hear something credible to the contrary, I am still saying that the missing Sky channels should be with us this autumn.

Can I guarantee it? Of course I can't, because stuff happens, as we have seen on a number of occasions recently (Fox + was the most obvious example of where VM fully intended a launch which was then deferred, and deferred again). Dates get pencilled in, but the trouble with pencils is you can rub the writing out again!

No Sky Channels was on the list of channels set to launch by 2014 given to me on November 3rd by an Virgin Insider I know.

As of time of posting only more TiVo updates is set to happen this week.

You don't surprise me, Media Boy. This is going to be a very silent kind of launch. We will wake up one morning and they will be there.

Incidentally, I was bemused to find on my doormat on Saturday a glossy card from Virgin Media telling me I now had access to BT Sport! Better late than never, I say! Have they told Customer Services???

I don't know, Doug, they are very cross about it, and it's not surprising. Sky have a lot invested in their sports channels and BT are becoming more than an irritant to them. I think they are worried.

In my humble opinion this is the start of quite a few sports rights battles that Sky will lose as BT have much bigger pockets then Sky and they are in it for the long run too.
