;) give mb a break, the info he currently holds on netflix could change. But vm are not going to take ages in making it available nationwide, our new owners have been after striking a deal with netflx since the takeover and negotiations no doubt have worked out good for us customers aswell as netflix with additional subs and extra injection of money can sought out more exclusive rights.i have Netflix and its great inc there own shows ie hemlock grove and house of cards.the weeks ahead info that some of us know will be confirmed and prices and if in bundles
Some people on here are quick to rip people to pieces when things dont happen so people are reluctant to put info up.i posted end of july netflix was coming autumn and was not believed by some

S - 4.99

Every time we have a rumour that new channels are launching the number of posts on here which state VIP will be free and XL will involve a price. A lot of posters said this for BT sports. virgin media have so far never offered a service exclusively on VIP except for HD channels for sky sports and thats because of the increased price the VIP package is.

Its possible it could happen but virgin media would be totally changing their entire policy.

A lot of VIP customers on here may like that but i see little to no evidence that virgin will change their policy to this.

Rumour: Virgin Media are in talks for more Music channels and Movies Channels to launch.

Rumours has just come into Media Boy HQ that says Virgin are in talks for the following channels:

-True movies 2
-Movies4men
-Sony movies
-Movies and men
-Chart Show TV
-Bliss
-Scuzz
-Heart FM TV
-True Movies HD (Only may launch on Virgin Media).

If Netflix is included in XL pack, they will probably slowly phase out their own on demand offering. It would make no sense to have both. Leaving just catch up and Sky On Demand. Gives people incentive to upgrade to Tivo that way!

This would match up with some of the info you put at the start of the month about movie channels to launch! good times.

To be fair Netflix is better than sky atlantic. Atlantic is massively overrated.

Do you have anything to back it up to say Sky Atlantic will launch?

All info I have seen point to 'Talks ongoing with Sky' but Virgin has been doing that since 2011.

The only two Sky branded channels testing on Virgin right now they are: Sky Sports News HD and Sky News HD - With Disney HD and two other channels also testing.

The Guardian (I think) reported that Bravo launch was held up because Sky wanted to do a deal with VM to carry it.

If I were Sky I'd want to keep Atlantic exclusive, but maybe they think that all the people who want to move from VM to Sky for Atlantic have already done so, therefore Sky may as well get extra revenue from selling it to VM.

Who really knows. But free BT sports was a bit of a surprise, so I wouldn't count anything out these days.

Yep as mb says spot on,anybody who was gonna move because of channel would have done So by now,and its not a case of sky witholding it.sky would gladly let vm have sky Atlantic but its down to cost I was told in July that whilst vm plan to get it sky value of that particular channel is higher than what vm consider it to be,I was told expect it in the autumn it's others that have put a date to it.i do believe it will turn up but other channels will come before and autumn covers quite a while. At the same time was told bt sports will come and did and Netflix will follow (and here it is ) so I have no doubti in my mind we will see at least some of the UPC channels we are missing and sky Atlantic during these autumn months

well that is interesting MB. I have access to Netflix by other means but have never bothered with it as i knew i would not want to pay the subscription. Now if its to be included in the XL pack it might well be worth giving it a go.

I know a lot of us bash VM from time to time but they have really made good strides in 2013.

Getting the BT/ESPN sports pack included in the XL package was a great result- certainly imo.

Several channel launches including TCM HD, Animal Planet HD, TLC (SD & HD- my missus and kids love that channel), the ITV HD channels amongst others. Now it appears Netflix will arrive -also in the XL pack- and the expected launch of more channels including maybe Sky News HD, Sky Sports News HD, CNN and CNN USA HD, more movie/music channels (would love Scuzz to come onto VM) and who knows even Sky Atlantic and Universal HD. the XL pack has surely never been as good value.

Even if SA doesnt come (i think it will eventually) VM's top tier TV package has just about everthing Sky has -even more.

i can only think of Sky Sports 3, 4 and F1 HD that are missing.

If this all happens it will have been a vintage year for VM.:)

Why not?

They would catch up channels (including Sky etc as they are Catch Up) and phase out the content they pay for like BBC Worldwide Content. Maybe not completly, but they will cut back, otherwise how can they afford it all?

Only if there is duplication. The strategy now is to give us as much choice as possible from different sources.

Personally, being able to access VOD content through the same set of menus is a great feature and I hope its not ditched in favour of having to go into individual apps. Why would I want to use a BBC app, a ITV app, a Sky app etc, when I can access all of these through the same set of menus?

I think you are right, Horizon, it would be better if all the programme choice was in one list, split into genres, channels, etc.

It is a good TIVO feature that you can browse the TV and it will come up with absolutely everything that is available on the set top box. Absolutely brilliant. If they can just take that one extra step to combine all those films, dramas, shows, etc in the same way as the remainder of on demand content, that would be even more brilliant.

Presumably, if this scenario were to happen, then catchup would remain the same and available via the backwards EPG. It would just be the On Demand boxset series type content that they buy from the various content providers that would be replaced by Netflix?

I can't remember the last time I watched something from On Demand; there is no need when you have the massively larger content on Netflix. So if this were to happen as OCAV is suggesting, it would make sense to me.

And Sky 3D missing

If it helps, Netflix items will show up in any Tivo search that you do, along with Live TV shows, on demand and catchup.

It's all conjecture ATM and who knows if Netflix will be free on XL and funded by the money saved by On Demand free content (not catchup).

But if that was the case, what would you prefer: A limited amount of On Demand content all in one place in the menus, or masses more content that you have to source from just one app, which will have a search function anyway?

I know which I would choose.

Of course, Netflix would win hands down, but that wasn't my point. You have assumed we have to make a choice. Let's have content from Lovefilm, Netflix and the like as well as our on demand offering all in one place!

Yes, I want it all!

Well my LG TV can search the Netflix app without having to open it so I'd guess it uses an open directory that the Tivo can tap off, like the BBC iPlayer app.

And Disney XD HD do not broadcast on UPC Ireland - but we may get it when Virgin Media deal with Disney is up.

The Netflix on Tivo, I suppose this will be limited to the Tivo. It would be nice to access the service from other devices (Computer), perhaps through the Tivo as the hub?

I guess I would be willing to pay a top up fee, say £2 per month if this was possible?

If you subscribe already like I do apparently you will be able to use your acount on TiVo so by that logic it ain't gonna be just limited to TiVo

Just had a trial run and after a small hickup logging in am using it on the TiVo, works well navigation fine, just watched first few minutes of latest episode of breaking bad in HD to test. Will post pictures shortly.

Picture is great, was SD for first few seconds then became HD

Buffering, all fine so far took about 10 seconds for show to load have to say I only watched first couple of minutes so will do a proper test tonight but no streaming issues so far.

I'm on 60 Meg BB if that makes a difference, is it via my router?

Pages loaded quickly about same speed as TiVo menus perhaps a bit faster.

Looks to me you need to do that via your internet account, you can add programs to a list etc... and it's shows your recently viewed and Top 10 (see per pix 2) etc...

It's all through the TiVo's built-in modem. You don't need broadband at all to use it.

Yes you have to set profiles up online they should then show up in compatible versions of the Netflix app , thanks for checking certainly looks a nice addition to TIVO are there anymore changes to screens ?
