Well, one needed a URN to get further and one didn't; the forms were similar after that though but I don't think they were identical.

They handled mobile numbers differently; Mine is off most of the time so didn't want to give it as a contact. One form let it go through blank; the other needed 'N/A' in the box.

You'll be disqualified if you've entered twice.

I certainly hope you are joking - I registered interest twice then saw LINK FOR THE DRAW ON MY v+ Box which I followed and entered. If I have disqualified myself I will not be happy. (I'm VIP20 by the way)

and what if they SEND me a link and a code - do I submit that?

If it's a different link/application then you'll be fine :)

Installed this afternoon, just under and hour as the first dowload took 2 minutes and so had to force it a couple of times. No power levels or anything needed altering, pretty much just a regular box swap out.

Ahh the S1 memories are flooding back, so easy to use. Shame you often get the same menu options twice when it flicks into an SD menu, e.g. setting Series Links. I'm sure it will eventually be a full HD UI, except mybe system info which doesn't really need the HD face lift.

Really nice bit of kit though and there seem to be a lot of installs happening today! :)

How long does it normally take for your account on the website to recognise you have a TiVo for remote record?

Re: TiVo

I understand that when the Tivo box is put into standby, that the HDD continues to spin and does not power down, is this correct right now?

For those with V+ boxes, you will remember the S/W update which was implemented to allow full power down and save energy!

This is particularly useful for those who have their boxes in their bedroom (not me), so certainly something that should be implemented but perhaps not top of the "fix list" right now!

Does anybody have any insight on this point?

I am also curious on the facebook app, can this individual app be pin protected say so you can stop your kids getting onto facebook via the Tivo?

You can't hear the HDD in the TiVo. It's very quiet.

Facebook isn't available just yet. I'd imagine it will work like Twitter and have a access PIN when it launches

I'm starting to thing Virgin don't want me to have TiVo :dozey:

I am a VIP50 sbscriber who registered an interest in TiVo on the the first day the web was put up. I know I registered as I a=have a confirmation e-mail dates the 1st December

I got the raffle ticket, and entered the raffle, but I haven't previously registered my interest in TIVO.

Here's some info if people are looking to build up a picture.

I've been a Telewest / Virgin customer since 2006.

I'm on VIP50 plus have an 18 month Virgin Mobile contract. I was previously on VIP20 for about 3 years. I pay Virgin about £155.00 per month for my services.

VIP50 contract expires in November. Virgin Mobile contract expires July 2012.

I live in the Linlithgow area, just outside Edinburgh.

If I get Tivo for free, as a result of the raffle, then great however it's not actually a product I'm really interested in at this time. I'm waiting for the price of the box to come down first before I seriously consider getting it.

I'm in Giffnock, just south of Glasgow, on VIP 20. Since I initially registered interest on 4 December I've had no contact other than the on-screen general notification, which I've been getting regularly for about 4 or 5 days now.

I don't like how the channel name and number is on the right and the programme info is on the left, prefer if vm could swap these around. But apart from that, the new mini epg looks nice. No idea about the channel logos, but its a nice touch.

Don't see that would help, it would mean moving all sorts of stuff around.

After all you know what channel your on by the dog and it being first on miniguide.

More wasteful than most is that it shows that title of the program you have highligthed, sorry but its highlighted why bother when the start of the info could go there......

Because if it's a short programme the title often gets truncated in the grid.

Good point.........

The one thing for me that would improove any epg is the option not to show greyed out channels that you don't subscribe to.........

Plus to be able to hide the adult channels as well......

You can already hide the adult channels (can do it of the V/V+ boxes as well)

You can also set up 'Favourites' to just show the channels you watch and then you can filter on both the main and mini-guides to only show that catagory

Stephen 21-02-2011 16:02

Re: TiVo

What I really like in the guide is that when watching a HD channel, it will put a little HD in a box next to the title if it is actually HD and not if its just upscaled. Very handy imo :)

Also for most shows now it lists the season number and episode number in the info :) and the date of first broadcast.

Season number and episode number is a must. As certain shows are on multiple channels.

Re: TiVo

I do like the way it constantly records a buffer on both tuners. So if you go to 'info' to see what's on the other other tuner, think it looks interesting and press 'OK' to switch to it, you can still rewind to the start or record the entire show.

Anyone that's used an S1 will be able to navigate the entire thing with ease. Yes there's more features but it's basically the same :)

wife having a moan :fit: :geez: about not being able to select changing channel automatically on start of program.

on the v+box the wife would go through what was on today and when she sees a program that she like to watch she pressed OK and it would ask you if you wanted the channel to change automatically on the start program.
so that she did not miss it.
had to tell her that the software will prob be updated to incorporate that later in the year.

TiVo does include season and episode, if the broadcaster does.

So with NCIS on FX you can see exactly which episode it is.

It may get added later but as its not a current feature of TiVo it may take a while. There is of course a 1TB HDD to fill, she could always just record everything ;)

Edit; just done a search on google and someone on TiVo forum http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=465263 is saying it uses 3 KWH a day or about 120 watts an hour, if true, it is very thirsty.

My VM engineer is here now - Tivo is being installed..........!

Although we had organised on the phone, to have our VHD box be installed in a third room. Having the Tivo downstairs, V+ in a bedroom and VHD in a bedroom which was agreed. The engineer has no record of that but is installing it for us anyway. I wonder what fuss I'll have with customer services now regards pricing!

Pure classic. Seen that film 164 times. :D

On topic, it's good to see a steady stream of TiVO's being installed, even if none of them are mine. Last night we had yet another clearout session with the V+ and we've cancelled some HD series links and shifted them to SD. Lame!

VM have stated there is a lot to contact, but they are commited to getting the pre regs installed well before new customers.

Dear lord! I thought I was bad! I've got a couple of DMC's, the novels, VHS boxset, DVD boxset and that Movie Trilogy book I see in your collection. Did you get on the ride before they ruined it with The Simpsons?

Errr.... TiVO? ;)

Well VIP 50 and still no letter or email or pop up regarding the 1000 lottery, only 2 days before registration closes,so will be on the phone on the 25th if I haven't received anything.

Re: TiVo

Will be on my TIVO wishlist Michael J Fox loved some of the 80's movies and now TIVO can help me find them , well when I'm installed. Remember Cocktail , Rainman , The Goonies , Weekend at Bernies , Teenwolf .80's -90's what an era LOL .

not heard of any VIP customers getting lottery tickets in the post. I'm guessing entry is automatic for us.

And for any Michael J Fox fans who don't know, he's been in a couple of episodes of the US lawyer series The Good Wife playing a "baddie" and the writers even incorporated his Parkinson's as a central theme of his story lines. Very good eps and a very good series overall.

Back to tivo.

your not alone .... would appear a lot of VIP50 customers just got the 'tough (chesty things)' you gotta wait till the end of March (no mention if it could be earlier)

we have had no official mention of a second 1000 lotto just for VIP customers just BenMCR (hope thats right) staff member has said there is another draw

not that im in a hissy fit .. i just wish they had laid the plans out in a simple concise way so us the customer knew what was happening instead of getting information of the forums

think peeps know my opinions by now ... Tivo = overhyped beyond proportion and Tivo Rollout = shambolic but of course your all free to make your own minds up

Everyone that has registered will be contacted before TiVo fully launches.

As we don't seem to have a definite date for full launch, that's not really a great comfort.

Do you pay up front or is the charge added to your next bill?

They did say they'd be in contact by the end of March.

That seems like 10 years away! :)

The posts from people saying they've had a call seems to be a lot less over the last few days. Are they making fewer calls and, if so, is it for a reason?

Yes I have read other VIP's in other threads dotted around here have had the email or the physical letter and I am one of those VIP's that have had nothing apart from the email to say we will be in touch end of March as I had pre-registered.

What the hell are they playing at as if lots here on the forums are missing out on this raffle, then who knows how many others have or have not been given the chance???

I haven't really had a chance to play with it yet! I took the morning off for the installation and am now back at work so I'm itching to get back this evening for a play.

Although, that might be a good thing as the engineer said it can take hours for the box to fully update everything, the EPG etc, so it may run slowly to start with.

My first impressions though are pretty damn good!

well if they have said all pre registered customers will be contacted by the end of March. Does that not suggest that they plan on officially launching TiVo in April?

Agreed mate I think the wording suggests existing customers will be contacted through March myself.

Can someone answer me a question what is the TIVO price because I've seen XL customers on here saying they've got it for 149 and 3.00 a month but vmhd blog are saying XL customers 149 + 40 install .

BenJSmyth 22-02-2011 17:39

Re: TiVo

I paid £149 and no installation with the £3 extra per month. I'm on VIP50. They "plumbed in" our VHD box into another room at no extra charge so we now have Tivo downstairs, V+ in our main bedroom and VHD in one of the kids' room's. We do have to pay another £6.50 a month for the third box though. So VIP50 with Tivo, V+HD and VHD is as near as makes no difference, £110 a month.

Lots of info to trawl throuhg on here but I do have a question.

I appreciate i will have to pay (£149 is it?) for instillation. As i have a V+ box which costs me £10 a month (it's a second box) how much a month is it just to have the new Tivo Box?

£149 For the box, £3 PER MONTH and £40 install.

The £10 per month will be dependent what pack you are one?

Cheers fella. I guess the best thing really is to phone up and ask what deal can be done. I have Virgin Media everything so you never know.

Hi Mobes. You are the same as me(apart from I got Tivo free) and you will pay £3 per month for Tivo but will gain £10 per month from sending back your second V+ box as I did.

Does that mean that you are a VIP50 customer? As if you are you will be able to keep the V+ as the second box for no extra charge:D
