Then he wouldn't have confidence he would have the time needed to build the kind of team he is expected to build at either club, he would be under more pressure (although Munich isn't exactly pressure free). Finally he has hit out at City and Chelsea before and thus it might have appeared hypocritical for him to then go there.

Simply put it's probably that Germany is now a more attractive league now. They're doing better in the Champions League, they have an attractive footballing culture (loud fans buying cheap tickets), they have exciting teams and great managers. Klopp vs Guardiola? Nice.

Well German clubs are doing alright in Europe but since 2001 we have won the CL 3 times and Germany has not won it once.

2001–02 Spain Real Madrid 2–1 Bayer Leverkusen Germany Hampden Park, Glasgow 52,000

2002–03 Italy Milan 0–0*[H] Juventus Italy Old Trafford, Manchester 63,215

2003–04 Portugal Porto 3–0 Monaco France Arena AufSchalke, Gelsenkirchen 52,000

2004–05 England Liverpool 3–3*[I] Milan Italy Atatürk Olympic Stadium, Istanbul 72,059

2005–06 Spain Barcelona 2–1 Arsenal England Stade de France, Saint-Denis 79,500

2006–07 Italy Milan 2–1 Liverpool England Olympic Stadium, Athens 74,000

2007–08 England Manchester United 1–1*[J] Chelsea England Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow 67,310

2008–09 Spain Barcelona 2–0 Manchester United England Stadio Olimpico, Rome 62,467

2009–10 Italy Internazionale 2–0 Bayern Munich Germany Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Madrid 73,170

2010–11 Spain Barcelona 3–1 Manchester United England Wembley Stadium, London 87,695

2011–12 England Chelsea 1–1*[K] Bayern Munich Germany Allianz Arena, Munich 62,500

It's just Arsenal fans have festered a sense of entitlement that makes us think that he was ours if we just asked him. :erm:

2001 was a long time ago. Football changes. Munich have gotten to two finals in recent years whilst we're seeing clubs struggle to make the last few stages. Chelsea won it last year but I don't think anyone thinks that reflected strength.

I think he wanted a big club that can win titles. United would have been the most likely English club but that job is taken.

Hopefully this means Rafa has a permanent job :)

I also find it funny how so many people think Guardiola is the greatest manager of all time and will win everything wherever he goes. He walked into probably the easiest job in football and won stuff, there was no great challenge.

My opinion on him is open. Same if he had come to my club (Man City, not Hearts :) )

No malice, hope he does well, but of course loses always to EPL teams (except Man Utd lol )

we're not far off Utds wage total. look where they are. look what they do with the budget. look how Fergie has kept in touch with times, or moved along with time. Look how Fergie has a team around him that don't always agree with him but it brings the best out of everyone.

I don't think hes the greatest manager ever. I do however believe hes the type of person who doesnt take crap internal or external.

Hmm, go to Bayern for a few years until SAF announces his retirement then wing it over to OT.

Yep, makes sense to me :)

Luis Suarez has had some interesting things to say.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...ish-media.html

Quote:

Let's see: they said that when we played against Stoke, for instance, and in that case they were right. I invented a foul because we were drawing 1-1 against Stoke and I wanted to win.
Its called cheating Luis.

I have my conscience clean. But as I have said: Manchester United controls the media, they are powerful and the media will always help them.
Tin hats at the ready.

Always the vicitm mentality again from a scouser, what a surprise.

Oh dear here we go again with the self righteous preaching but perhaps a look at history will reveal players at other certain top clubs are no better and are prepared to cheat.

And? If a player cheats at my club..I say so. that isn't self rightous, that is my understanding of what i find acceptable, and what i don't.

Point me to someone who blatantly cheats, and is my club, and you can right condemn him. Want to chop his ghoulies off? I'll hold the scissors for you.

The point is not...look, it is a liverpool cheat. It is..look, there is a cheat, and i don't think it is right.

I don't agree with wearing blinders because it is my club, and will equally show my disgust if it is someone's else's club.

On a brighter note, I am looking forward to the football tonight. Come on swansea and West Ham :D

l don't find any cheating acceptable Colin but lets not it become a Suarez witch-hunt as there are many others just as bad and certain posters know that but conveniently seem to have developed memory loss with regards to many other incidents.

So, have you never criticised another player on another team for cheating? ;)

Not that I am supporting Young for what he did, just that if you are going to dish it out, please take it back when due ;)
