:)

2016 eh! so it can't be a silly channel as no one would be giving inside information over a silly +1 channel or something that far in advance. me thinks atlantic.

i know you can't comment ;)

It's not hard to understand, actually it's quite easy to understand, but SA gives people the opportunity to discuss things on here.

SA is (probably) the last high profile channel that VM need to add to their current TV line up (excluding +1s and HD versions of channels we already have). If we had SA, what else would there be to talk about ? ( This is rhetorical :td:)

This forum allows people to discuss their views about it, without the need to be told that we'll never get it....and to be honest, it's boring now.

I actually like the talk about if we will get it or when MB says he has a DNP, the forum picks up and gets lively again.... Sky need VM as much as VM need Sky...SA will eventually land on VM, it's just the question of when? Could be 1month from now, or could be 10years from now...but to discuss it with everyone is what brings us all here.

I'm looking forward to Fortitude on SA. I have NowTV.
I believe I have read that Fortitude will be shown in all off Sky Europe's countries and the US the same day, is SA available in Europe? If it is, what's the big deal if VM got it?

No it's Virgin won't pay the money Sky are asking, i think both are the problem.
Virgin seem to want things on the cheap and Sky want to charge silly prices for a channel, both need their heads banging together.

Too many are quick to blame Sky but ask yourselves why is trutv on all platforms now except for vm?
I think vm are a huge part of the issue for channels not launching. This ofcourse is just my opinion.

We are all certainly paying them enough to make sure they are :-)

This year you can look forward to more international channels as VM want to branch out more to their Asian customers etc, also expect huge changes in their on demand services.
I'm also under a do not disclose order at mo but something very exciting is in the pipeline for you guys that's all i'm allowed to say.

No it is not Sky Atlantic either lol :p:

Good, the on demand service has been poor relative to Sky for a while now. It used to be a Virgin usp.

...And if VM gave in and paid silly money, I wonder who would be the first to moan about the price hike that would go with it?

Sky are the bad guys here, not VM.

When the VM engineer came to install my V+ some years ago, he said he was surprised that I had both Sky and VM. I explained that I had fallen out with Sky, but had kept the box to avail myself of the FTA channels and as an emergency back up should the VM network ever go down (has happened just the once).

He said that the only places he'd ever seen both in a set up was in asian households. He explained that the pay channels on VM were better value for them (VM have a special package for asian customers), but that they needed satellite to access FTA channels or for pay boquets not available on VM. VM have a special package for asian customers.

As I say this was several years ago, so I don't know if the situation has changed or not. If VM are improving their asian packages, they may be able to get this community to cut out Sky/satellite altogether. It just goes to show that, whilst on their own, minority channels may not seem to make VM any money, they do help when the bigger picture is looked at.

Very true. I'm surprised that VM have passively sat back and allowed Sky to erode one of their USP's in such a way.

Agreed. IIRC Sky want something like 23p per week per subscriber for SA, basic channeks usually get a matter of 1 to 3 pence. This figure sounds like nothing to obtain SA, but that 20 to 22 pence premium adds up to a significant amount out of the channel budget allocation and would set a very bad precedent.
