I've had a look through the T&C's but can't find the offical company line on this: http://shop.virginmedia.com/the-lega...es.html#ending Can someone in the know, no offence meant to you at all Stephen, post a link to something showing how long you have to wait, once you cancel services with Virgin, before you can return as a "new customer"? |
Re: Is the TiVo charge now £3 per month on all TV packs?
Can someone explain this to me please?
I have ordered TV M+ and 500GB Tivo which is being installed next Tuesday. I had to order on the telephone as the online system wasn't offering any suitable installation dates. I have already been charged a £49.50 activation fee for the Tivo box and am due to pay £15.50 per month ongoing. I have just gone through the motions of ordering the same package on the website and it is now priced at £49.95 one off cost, then £3.00 per month. Is there any reason I shouldn't phone to cancel and re-order at the much reduced ongoing rate? |
Re: Is the TiVo charge now £3 per month on all TV packs?
It can't be £3 a month, that would be if you already had M+
It's either £9.50 on top of a phone line or £15.50 if that's the only service you are having |

I assume there must be a glitch in the new offers system. |

It's not that I'm desperate for TiVo I'm just desperate for Virgin to offer long serving loyal customers, especially those out of contract that can leave at anytime, really good deals that not only rival those offered to new customers but actually better them. I can see the appeal to Virgin offering free TiVo and free installation to lure a new customer. I'm just surprised they don't see an equal value of offering out of contract customers the same deal to secure their custom for a further 18 months. I posted proof earlier that I pay £175.00 per month to Virgin, which is £2100.00 per year. If I call Virgin to say I'm out of contract, thinking about going to SKY however if you give me a free TiVo box and free installation I'll stay and agree a new 18 month contract, I'm sure Virgin wouldn't agree. For the sake of £49.95 Virgin could lose a high income loyal customer. I'm looking forward to this tickle thing next month. I really think there is value in Virgin contacting out of contract TV customers offering free TiVo and free installation. I'm certain that there is not too many new customers joining Virgin who'll be paying the same kind of money as I do each month. I shouldn't have to contact Virgin asking them to convince me to stay, Virgin should contact me. So tickle me next month Virgin, make me feel like a valued customer. Show me you recognize my worth and value as a high end customer and bend over backwards to offer me a deal I can't refuse. Forget new customers, it's us your loyal long serving customers who have helped you get to where you are today. Don't forget us when you are clashing out the freebies and deals. |
Re: Is the TiVo charge now £3 per month on all TV packs?
Totally agree Chad, I've cancelled mine and went to Sky as Virgin removed some discounts we have been getting for about 2 years with no warning increasing the cost around £13 per month.
Pricing the package I have with Virgin, I can go to them as a new customer for around the same cost, and I've been with them around 5 years. As I stated earlier, am joining Sky on their friend and family discount code for 12 months, saving £22 per month on what I was paying Virgin, and that now gives me the Sky Movies package too which I didn't have with Virgin. My partners mum has also done the same, she is saving a good few quid too, though the Virgin retentions team tried their best to keep her, offering free TiVo install etc.. which they are doing to new customers anyway. |

Re: Is the TiVo charge now £3 per month on all TV packs?
So in fact it's not free because all they have done is swapped the activation fee and installation fee around for the 500GB box as Existing customers still pay £49.95 but this time for Installation.
And the 1TB box is £49.95 PLUS £49.95 for Installation which comes to £99.90. Also in the small print - Additional box fee of £6.50 per month may apply. Read very carefully before you buy. |
