Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Snippets
The Two Stargate Movies appear to have been announced ;
http://iesb.net/index.php?option=com...1613&Itemid=75 "Stargate: The Ark of Truth" As SG-1 searches for an Ancient artifact which they hope can defeat the armies of the Ori, they learn more Ori ships are about to be sent through the supergate to launch a final assault on Earth. Daniel discovers that the artifact, the Ark of Truth, may be in the Ori home galaxy, and SG-1 embarks aboard the Odyssey to find it, and pre-empt the attack. The IOA has a plan of their own and SG-1 ends up in a distant galaxy fighting two powerful enemies. "Stargate: Continuum" While SG-1 attends the execution of Ba'al, the last of the goa'uld system lords, Teal'c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities what's happened, a fleet of goa'uld motherships arrives in orbit, led by Ba'al, his queen, Katesh, (Vala) and his first prime, Teal'c. SG-1 must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the goa'uld. |

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Snippets
Good heavens ... what would be the point, the original is a masterpiece! What's the betting the remake relies so heavily on FX to emphasise the fact the park is all computer controlled that it completely forgets to inject any suspense.
There are few things scarier in sci fi cinema than the sound of Yul Brinner's spurs in the distance. :D |
Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Snippets
I watched the pilot of another new sci-fi series last night (from the states) called PainKiller Jane - it was slightly weird to start with, but a promising start. Sci-Fi have ordered 22 episodes.

There's no way a re-make could be as suspense filled as the original. |

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Snippets
I also watched the first episode of another series called 'Drive' - about a secret race across America. The description sounded a bit dull but I gave it a chance and I'm glad I did, it was actually quite good and had me reaching for episode 2.

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Snippets
I've just watched some of a new web-based project, called Sanctuary, starring & produced by Amanda Tapping.
http://www.moviesonline.ca/movienews_12027.html First impressions are favourable - the CGI is very obvious, but understandable, given the budget, but the acting & storyline are spot-on, imo, so far. So far I've seen 4 episodes, each of which is about 15 minutes long. One surprise was the very credible English accent from Amanda. |

I've watched the four available episodes as well, quite enjoyable, I'm looking forward to the next four.
