8 and a half out of 10

Saw VI - 8/10
as others have said, this one is as good as the first 2, I like 3,4,5 but they tried to be a bit too clever for their own good, where as this one as well as having "cool" traps is an exciting fairly straightforward thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat :)

Watched 2012 today - Overall rating: 6/10 - Excellent visuals as to be expected for a 'Roland' movie - However, for such a hyped up movie I didn't think it was anything special.

Harry Brown 9/10 simply amazing, Michael Caine is fantastic in the role and while its very violent its a really enjoyable movie.

2012 - 7/10 great mindless action movie. Bit too long though

Missus and I really enjoyed it. I haven't read the book since I was a kid so can't compare, but thought this was really good, but we're big Wes Anderson fans anyway, and despite being based on a kid's book you can tell it's one of his films :)

---------- Post added at 00:11 ---------- Previous post was at 00:09 ----------

I saw 2012 yesterday...

I thought the special effects were amazing, but I am surprised that the Daily Express didn't show outrage at one scene (one of the characters is killed in a car explosion in a Paris underpass, and in case you miss the comparison, the film highlights it later).

As for my score, I'd give in about 7 or 8 out of ten (it does drag a bit in places).

To be honest you really need to read the books as all the movies have done is put faces to characters and shown the wolf transformation.

If I had not read the books I would probably mark it lower.

Paranormal Activity: Not really that scary, but some good acting (particularly from the leading lady who is quite convincing as a woman who gets madder and madder over the course of the film) and some ingenious special effects. 6/10

Moon: An excellent indie SciFi film that shows that us British can produce excellent SciFi movies even if the small cast is entirely American. It's about a man who works at a facility for mining an energy source on the moon. He lives on his own, with just a mobile artificially intelligent computer (played by Kevin Spacey), he is looking forward to the end of his three year contract and going home when he has an accident, then wakes up and finds that all is not quite what it seems.. 8/10

I have to totally agree. Started off brilliantly, and kept going till the 6am deadline passes. Then I felt it was just rushed through to the end. I too was like , wtf is happening. How can you tie up every single loose end just like that? 5/10 for me.

Up!-3D

Not a bad movie, the kids loved it and enjoyed the 3D experience. Personally, I didn't rate the extra cost to be honest, the additional expense wasn't justified. The story line was pleasant and easy to follow and didn't tax the mind too much. There was plenty of humour to keep the gown-ups amused, as well as many more for the children. I'd give it 8/10.

I enjoyed this when it was on the cinema and I believe that the accent and acting by Brad Pitt was deliberately hammed up to fit in with the OTT storyline and Tarantino's take on how the war could have ended.:)

The whole movie was very much a tongue in cheek romp and could be awarded anything between 6 and 9 depending on the person watching.;)

Avatar in 3D 9/10

Simply amazing and a wonderful piece of cinematography. Cameron's hard work and years of work in this project really paid off.

I'd say in 2D I'd give the film 7/10 but the 3D adds a couple of marks as it really immerses you in the world that has been created.

Best 3D movie I have seen.

I have a question about 3D, do you need decent eye sight in both eyes? I mean, more or less everything in my left eye is blurry. When C4 had that 3D week it just didn't seem right to me. Nothing popped out. It was more or less like watching without using 3D glasses. Was just wondering because I wanna see it in 3D.

Blood: The Last Vampire (live action, not the anime one).

Not sure what I'd rate it, but I really enjoyed it.

OK, the SFX were awful, the CGI blood looked stupid, the script was poor, & the acting was laughable (even from Colin "that guy from Bond" Salmon).

But somehow... it was still sort of awesome. Kind of "so bad it's good".

I am a glasses wearer and they are varifocals and I had no problem watching Avatar, the 3D glasses are similar to sunglasses with longer arms to encompass glasses.

You must see Avatar in 3D if possible and if you can get to one watch it in an IMAX.

Not understanding all this love for Avatar. Story is awful, it's like the invasion of Iraq but in space with Smurfs.

That's the thing - I don't think the 3D was overblown.

Occasionally, it would catch my attention, but it just seemed "right" (mostly).

As for the CGI, I thought that was amazing.

Overblown special FX/3D does not make a great film.

Good story telling ftw.

Sorry SB, I think thats a ***** comparison. I take it you have actually seen the film?
Most films have special effects and the more recent ones, 3D.
Just try and take the film for what it is.:)

Die Hard (DVD)

10/10

Yippee-ki-yay...kimosabe (in the words of the old ITV edit ;) )

An awesome action classic. Hard to believe it's over 20 years old now.

"Now I have a machine gun. Ho-ho-ho".

I quite liked Over the hedge...the hyper squirrel was fantastic.

Maybe "meh" was a bit harsh. It was OK, just not something I'd ever be bothered with watching ever again.

Sherlock Holmes. 8/10

Not perfect, but good fun. Robert Downey Jr plays Sherlock as almost psychopathic in his pursuit of the solution to the case (the extreme single mindedness required to do something regardless of the consequence to yourself or anyone else is mildly psychopathic). The three leads (Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law and Rachel Mcadams) play their parts extremely well, the story is good as is everything else.
