TV XL customer?
If you’re a TV XL customer and have ESPN as part of your package there won't be a change to pricing when we stop showing these channels. Thats from Virgin Media.Com |

Thankfully I was at the St Johnstone vs Rosenborg game last night and didn't rely on either the BT Sport or the Sky Sports Twitter feeds as neither saw fit to bother reporting that the most successful Norwegian team in the last 20 odd years were knocked out of the Europa league qualifiers by a little know club from Scotland.
Fair enough my team, St Johnstone, are insignificant but Rosenborg certainly are not but I guess it shows the (lack of) interest they have in both Scottish football and the Europa league and why I have probably made the right decision by not subscribing to either. Bet Swansea get a mention next week. |

However I still think it's worth pointing out that while miracles were being performed in Perth, Sky Sports thought it was more important to keep everyone informed of Chelsea's results in Indonesia. Clearly big news that one of the biggest clubs in England are much better than a team made of of people from a country that doesn't really have a history of playing football at a very high level...probably still beat Hibs though. :D |
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
A relative of mine had to call VM today as his service was a bit wonky and asked about BT Sport, as he is an avid football fan like me who supports Arsenal (arghhhh), and he was told that we are NOT getting BT Sports as talks have broken down.
Could be a wind up, but he was certain about it and is getting Sky. I support Spurs, and l had to say that dreaded word. |

Just had VM call me tonight out of the blue and said they are upgrading my broadband from 20 Mb to 60Mb at no extra charge. There was no mention of having to sign up to another 12 months either. Timing seems a bit suss for this with it being so close to BT sport starting. Anyone else had this happen?

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Just looking through the ESPN/HD listings on the Sky EPG and quite frankly I may not even bother subscribing to BT Sport , with the loss of ESPN America the whole package has been devalued for my needs. ESPN which appears to be the only channel going forward what contains US Sport has to share the time with AFL , Football and other things so the choice of US Sport is the lowest its ever been. For the amount of EPL games I'll watch on it £12 seems a little overpriced.

On August 1st the phone lines to Sky, will be very hot. As i woke up this morning and thought that - no, it won't be on VM.
I cannot believe that a major company such as VM would treat the customers with such contempt at not telling its customers one way or the other, whether they have got the channels. If there is an agreement between Sky/BT/ VM not to say anything about it, you would have thought that VM would be shouting from the roof tops to get as many subs as possible. Cannot believe the silence. |

Yes, IF an agreement has been made then at least customers should know what is happening.
For the last couple of months - we have seen big ads from Sky and BT to attract customers - from VM NOTHING. If l was on the board of directors, of customer services l would be totally ashamed. Customers are the most important thing for any company, l can assure you that l don't hear by 31st July, what is happening. I will call Sky and switch it all back on and take my custom elsewhere. The big games for Spurs are on BT Sport. Wake up VM or you will lose a customer. |

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Just to say there might, MIGHT, I say again, be an announcement from Virgin Media on Monday morning 29th July. If we're getting BT Sports one way or other then great, even it means our monthly subs go up as a consequence. Else, VM customer services better expect a ten-fold increase from angry callers saying what a waste of space they are, treating their clients with contempt.
We've seen this before. Setenta came less than week they were announced back in 2007 & ESPN in 2009. Yes, the uncertainty has been unsettling & depressing. Let's wait until the morning if there is something to come from VM. |

Virgin Media is poised to close a deal to carry BT Sport’s three sports channels on its cable TV platform, making them available to a further 4m potential customers. The two companies have been in negotiations for a number of months but both have been keen to strike a deal ahead of BT Sport’s launch on Thursday 1 August. BT Sport has the rights to the Scottish Premier League, which begins its season on Friday 2 August, and wanted to have carriage on Virgin in time for its first TV game - Partick Thistle versus Dundee United - so as not to alienate football fans who are VM customers. The English Premier League season starts on August 17th. One of the sticking points of negotiations has been whether Virgin will bundle the new channels in with its TV XL premium package - as was previously the case with ESPN - or whether it will charge for them as a standalone product. It is not clear which route has been taken, but a Virgin Media spokesman said: We’re always looking bring the best possible value and choice of great quality content to our customers and we’re talking to BT about how we could potentially make the forthcoming BT Sport package available.” Earlier this year, Virgin Media sent an online survey out to customers asking whether they would be willing to pay slightly more for their top package if it were to include Premier League football and Sky Atlantic, which could pave the way for this move. BT Sport is being sold as a standalone channel on the Sky platform for £12 a month in SD and £15 a month in HD |

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
BT Sport find away around sky's advertising ban
BT Sport has found a way past Sky Sports ban on screening its rival broadcaster's adverts after signing a four-year shirt sponsorship deal with two of the teams Sky has signed up to televise this season. Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby have agreed a 'substantial multi-million pound' deal that will see both clubs sport BT's logo on their shirts. The Scottish sides complete in the RaboDirect Pro12 and Heineken Cup, competitions which are to be screened live next year by Sky. The announcement of the deal follows an Ofcom ruling last month which rejected BT's complaints over Sky's refusal to promote its new rivals on its own channels. BT will launch three channels later this week, broadcasting live football from the Barclays Premier League in England and Scotland's newly-formed Scottish Premiership. Its rugby content includes Aviva Premiership matches and France's Top 14 - but it will not screen games involving the two sides it has just signed up to sponsor. However, Marc Watson, chief executive of TV for BT Retail, claims that could change in future. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rug...#ixzz2aRTn7wzB |

My young cousin works for VM in Uddingston, just outside of Glasgow. I asked him to keep me in touch regarding BT coming onto VM,well there's good news and bad,the good news is that VM WILL do a deal with BT but not for a few weeks, possibly 2/3, the bad news is that they,VM,will be charging around £3.00 a month for having the sports available to us. Tbh,I think this is a bit unfair as we were getting ESPN but I suppose needs are a must,I'll pay for it if I'm being honest. |

Hugh, someone said on this forum yesterday that there was a meeting today and that an announcement was being made TODay.
And secondly, IF we have to wait several weeks for BT Sports to come to the system, l will call Sky on Aug 1ist and switch over. VM must learn that WE the CUSTOMER, should be treated with care. There are lots of customers out there are fed up to the back teeth at the way VM treats its customers. There is no information on any channels coming, Media Boy does his very best to update us all. BUT no information from VM. Sky and BT has been blowing each others brains out to get customers to switch over, and what has VM doen - NOTHING. If l was running a company, l would have salesman everyday trying to get customers to sign up. This is not a moan, but l feel that VM don't do enough to satisfy the customer, who at the end of the day pay money for a service, which they are not getting. Part of my job is customer care and service, and each day l call between 20/30 people to find out what they think of the company l work for. Its a good job its not VM. |

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

This is on the cable.co.uk website:
Virgin Media reportedly close to BT Sport carriage deal Tuesday, July 30th 2013 by Nigel Adie . . Virgin Media said to be close to signing carriage deal for BT Sport BT and Virgin Media are thought to be close to making a deal on the carriage of BT Sport channels. The finishing touches are reportedly being put to a deal that will see Virgin Media team up with BT in order to offer customers the latter's new Sport package. According to Broadcast, the telecoms companies have been in negotiations for some time and are eager to establish a contract ahead of BT Sport going live on Thursday (August 1st), although it is not yet clear if this will involve Virgin charging viewers for the service as a standalone product. Should the deal go ahead, it will mean the three BT Sport channels - BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN - can be offered to four million Britons who currently get their pay TV from Virgin. "We're always looking to bring the best possible value and choice of great quality content to our customers and we're talking to BT about how we could potentially make the forthcoming BT Sport package available," said a Virgin Media spokesperson. All BT broadband customers have free access to the online BT Sport player and mobile app. In addition, BT Sport is free to Infinity customers with a BT TV package and to BT broadband customers who have a Sky set-top box. |
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Just noticed the news stories that BT Sport had garnered half a million subscribers. They're not going to get much ad revenue on that number. You would think they're missing a trick if they don't add payments from Virgin for the channel PLUS the higher potential ad revenue the VM customer base would bring.
