It's better than a good idea mate, it shows you care. The only advice I could give a mate of mine years ago in similar circumstances was to pay the maintenance on time without any fuss and hope in years to come his son would look for him, at least then he could say he did care and had no control over the situation, I'd have liked to have suggested this as well. It never happened for him, hope it does for you :tu:

When you do meet, or when she is old enough to make the decision to met you and you give the letter to her it will be something I am sure she will treasure as it will give her a taste of what it would have been like to know you as she grew up. Add photos of the puppy you would have like her to see and the big sister she could have shared experiences with.

Excellent idea. :tu:

It's proberly not a true XL, I have a shirt that I wear on special occasions, its a 44" chest and L, my other shirts that are 44" are labelled as XL, I have a T-shirt which has XXL for the same size, I would like to know whats going on with sizes.

After a couple of months of phasing it in, our youngest is now on the recommended dose of his new epilepsy medication and we're phasing out the original one ove the next 6 weeks or so. So far no fits and no signs of any adverse reaction so it's touch wood, fingers/toes crossed and all that.... :)

Thank you,

It's a move back into the private sector and also back into IT in a very hands on technical role the salary would be the same or 3K less plus a company car.

Now I have no idea about company cars so Im very very confused

It also scares me about moving from the relatively safe public sector back into the private sectory. ( Suffering a lack of confidence here which does not help)

I originally applied for the role about six months ago just before i had my breakdown so for them to call is unexpected.

I would also feel guilty about leaving my current employer after they have supported me through my illness, should I ?

IMHO I would stay where you are, your present employers are happy with your work, you do not have to prove anything to them, and they know your history. You say you have had a breakdown, so why put yourself under possible stress with a new employer, and take a drop in salary? Doesn't make sense to me. Pat yourself on the back that you have received this offer, you obviously made quite an impression when you first applied.

I agree with Tinky on this.

Take heart that your skills are appreciated out side of the Public Sector, a lot of people don't have the where-with-all to cut it in the Private Sector and you do. However, your employers knows your history, and have proved that they are behind you so I would stick with them and avoid the inevitable upheaval you would experience if you changed employers and working conditions at the moment. If in the future you decided to try for another job you can do so when you are more able to cope with the extra pressure.

Sorry ladies but i disagree with you both (no offence), the public sector is dying and I'm looking to get into the private sector where all the growth is expected. Whilst we have the government in control as we do, private sector is the only way to go IMO.

I'm sort of in the same boat, I sent out 28 CVs to companies that might do the role I used to do in aviation.

6 replied with sorry, and 1 called me in for a temp job (2 months but this may go on longer or full time), as the person who does the job in hospital waiting cancer surgury (I heard today that it had been cancelled due to it spreading and he needs radiothearpy & chemothearpy first.)

It's paying very good money so it could be several months good funds (any hols would be unpaid).

I've worked in places were you only got promotion if a person left or died, the later could be never a truer word, which does make me feel somewhat guilty.

Good for you Hom3r! IMVHO You obviously have the qualifications or you would not have had the offer. What matters it, if the job only lasts for a couple of months so what? A job is a job is a job and it's always something else to add to your CV. Sounds as though it could become permanent, although I sincerely hope the original job holder makes a full recovery, but that is out of your hands, so no need for you to feel guilty. Pity about not being paid for holidays tho, I trust that this would alter if the job became yours. Let us know what you decide. Good luck!

Thanks for that, had no offer yet other than the two months that I'm doing, if a full job was to be offered I'ld take it. But I believe that extensions would happen in the short term, which I can live with until I leave or get taken on full time.

Well, After speaking to the company and explaining the situation to them they are more than happy to accomodate me with any needs that I may have. Work played a part in my breakdown so I think therefore that a clean break is whats needed.

I have a chance here to improve and I can't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Thank you for your advice everyone. :)

Eldest is a bit of a tight so-and-so.
He's now sporting a Help for Heroes wristband. Good Man.
Now - the window cleaner has a whole back tattoo in honour of a fallen mate, beautifully done but eldest's band made me pleased. So I'm wondering why I don't have one myself.

My happy thought for today, good neighbours. I took a pot of runner beans down to my neighbour today, and unexpectedly he gave me a tray of petunias, how kind was that?

Ah thank you Tinkey my little pal also :hugs::hugs::hugs: That was so nice of them and also nice of you. We have elderly neighbours and we watch out for them and last Christmas there daughter came in with a box of chocolates to say thanks for watching out for her parents all year. It was a total shock as they are so nice and we just do it as Its what being a good neighbour is all about.

I took a chance yesterday as I was sick of being sleepy all the time from the medication and not being out of the house. Today the pain is back again. My own fault but I so enjoyed yesterday that the pain is worth it, I think :D So back on the pain killers and back to resting :(:(

No in true Tardis fashion, inside your Tadris mug you will just see a sexy woman staring into her mug looking for a Tardis.

You think that's tea in there? Just because they're innocent looking old ladies doesn't mean to say there isn't a generous helping of the hard stuff in that flask. I mean look at their faces? that's not PG Tips!
