Lovefilm appear to have put their price up to the same as Netflix at £5.99, at least for new customers. Maybe existing customers retain the original £4.99?

Now TV movies pass £8.99 , Now TV box to access it £9.99 (One off) total £18.98 so basically you save right from the first month , so as I said theres cheap options out there for both services and devices.

These particular services may not be what your after however its still an option for people as is the cheaper Netflix at £5.99 or Lovefilm Instant at £4.99 so as you can see movies are available to all budgets which was my initial point.

Thanks for clarifying your point, MM.

I don't think BT are likely to be willing to pay the money needed to win the majority of Premiership rights at the next auction.

At the last auction they, BT, won the most that they could, and so did Sky AFAIK, as the deal was that one broadcaster could have all but one "first pick" bundles and at most all but one bundle of other matches, too.

I think the real danger for Sky is that BT focus their money on selected "first pick" bundles and/or certain other pack bundles that Sky end-up paying over the odds for those and the rest of the packages.

<I work for Sky so I'm biased obviously! but this is how I see the bidding war playing out. Sky did outbid BT last time, but next time if they (BT) focus their bids on certain packages then they could seriously damage Sky for 3 years at least>

Indeed this is the scenario Sky greatly fears and they have every right to be fearful as BT Sports has the money and the staying power for the long run......

Funny how quickly the 'BT are just another Setanta' comments disappeared - its almost as if people shouldn't make wildly misinformed snap judgements.

Glad to hear that BT aren`t just prepared to stand still and be happy with what they`ve got. The prospect of red button feature is a step in the right direction. I now see that Sky now really do have a real rival at long last. My only fear is whether we the customers will pay more for the BT channels in the not to distant future. For the moment though I`m liking what BT are doing.

Almost. Where are these comments you speak of?

Throwing billions of customer's money about will still fail but on a grander scale....

BT may have beaten Sky on Champions League – but the game isn't over.

First of all they need to get his facts right in saying you can get Sky Sports on Sky for as little as £22.00 because as far as l know you must pay Sky a minimum of £43 per month in order to get Sky Sports and that is just in SD.

I think those who think BT will not succeed in their strategy are assuming this is only about sport and broadband.

I think BT may have some more rabbits to pull from the hat in terms of its TV offering, which I think is likely to be expanded well beyond sport. Sky have done very well from TV revenues - who is to say that BT can't emulate Sky's success?

I agree BT could succeed but making exisiting customers pay by chucking billions at sport is an awful way to do it imo.....
