I would find Channel5 +1 useful during recording clashes, which sometimes occur at peak time.

I would welcome it as well , having said that I manage to find most things on 5* or 5 USA or even a straight repeat the same week - "Once upon a time" is a case in point & I think CSI is on twice a week as well:)

Apparently, we will be getting the Eurosport 3D channel from 27 July 2012.

l am afraid that 3D holds no interest to me as in my mind its just totally over-rated and just a fad that will last for a short period before dying out in time due to two things which are the lack of mainstream takeup in this Technology and also rather ominously the lack of 3D content.

I't's the chicken and egg situation isn't it. People won't buy 3D TV's until the content is there, but broadcasters won't invest in 3D until the viewer base is there.

I think it will eventually become a limited use gimmick that most TV'S will have by default.

The growth in 3D sets is being fueled by blu-ray discs not TV content.
Sales of both TV capable sets and discs are set to increase rapidly over the next couple of years.
Sky are showing more & more in 3D, so Virgin need as usual to catch up.
3D coming soon :D:D

The way things are going I think we will all end up with 3D capable TV's by default when we buy a new model.

Ahhh, but unless you buy the lower resolution passive version, you will probably have to pay a few hundred extra for the glasses, less and less active manufacturers are bundling active glasses with sets to keep price comparisons low.

Agreed, it is then up to the purchaser to decide whether to use 3D.

I don't think 3D stands much chance of taking off to any great extent until it becomes glasses free.

Toshiba have launched a 50" glasses free screen, but at £7000, it will have limited sales. Still, the prices will eventually come down and then, 3D may become more mainstream.

The bigger issue is Broadcast SBS 3D isn't a patch on that of 3D Blu Ray.

Any news on Channel 5 getting HD catchup? I am guessing it is a long shot as not even their Youtube is in HD lol.
