It's not necessary especially as there are plenty of threads available to discuss such issues. Those discussing the free upgrade to 10 MB are free to carry on. ;)

Okay, I understand, I apologize for the inconvenience.

My Motorola Surfboard SB4100 NTL Cable Modem does not have a config file for me to look at!

All I have is:
  • Status
  • Signal
  • Addresses
  • Configuration
  • Logs
  • Help
If it is Configuration

Frequency Plan: European PAL I/B/G
Upstream Channel ID: 4
Frequency (Hz): 402750000

[Edit]

It Looks like I am going to have to wait for the New Cable Modem be for I get the upgrade to 10Mb :(

Someone needs to read the knowledge base.
You can't see QOS on a 4100

All fine as Motorolas do not show configs the same as any other modem Virgin supply you may see it in the logs if not encrypted.

I would recommend you swapping that 4100 as it will start to struggle on 10Mb.

My best speed to date, well on Speedtest.net anyway.

https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2009/05/83.png

I have found that it is the Avast local host that may well have been slowing down the speeds, as when I have the setting set to Direct connection to the internet the speeds are much higher.

Is it safe to have this setting?

It's not safe to keep obsessing over speeds, no, it can lead to insanity. Might be well worth opening a separate thread for your speed issues rather than posting them in this one (amongst others).

Well the New modem has arrived, I will set it up tomorrow, and give CSC a ring, with luck I will get the 10Mb upgrade down the pipe.
