Re: Football talk
I remember it very well even though I was only 10 at the time, only a few months later a tragedy struck my family . My mother had a childhood illness that left her with a damaged heart, she spent a prolonged amount of time in hospital during our early childhood. She had been in a hospital in West Kirby for almost 12 months and was due to come home. My father who was aged 31, took the afternoon of work and was on his way home on his motorcycle when he was killed instantly in a road accident. My mother never did see him again and was soon back in hospital, myself and my two younger brothers had to go into care.
So whenever the early part of the year comes round and the Munich disaster is remembered it is a doubly sad time for me.:( Om a lighter note, my mother had a plastic heart valve fitted over 35 years ago and apart from the usual ravages of time is a lively 78 year old.:) |
Re: Football talk

Re: Football talk
Thanks for your kind words, time is a great healer and I am glad to say that all three brothers have been successful in our chosen careers, despite being in care.
I do sometimes get angry when something like that is used as an excuse for deliquent behaviour. |

I totally agree about what you said about using being in care as an excuse, people who do that, imo, think of themselves as 'victims', - something you & your brothers obviously rose above. Thankyou for sharing your thoughts. |
Re: Football talk
Everton 3-4 Man Utd Phew !!!!!
And 0 -3 up at half time, it has to be the Rio factor, I must watch it tonight. |
Re: Football talk

Re: Football talk
i dont know what we are playing at recently but we might play better if our left back was left back in the dressing room and our right back was right back in the reserves the way they are gifting goals away.
3-0 up and then scrape a 4-3 win at the death.....city fans wouldve never let us live it down if we had lost 3-4. apart from that saha seems a good buy so far ,and ruudy is on song again. |
Re: Football talk
chelsea scraped another jammy win today....they are not exactly championship material yet methinks........

Re: Football talk
I see Oldham took full advantage of all the extra Grimsby fans who had been given free tickets & handed out a 6-0 thrashing. :(
I can see 'Town' going down to the third division at this rate  |
Re: Football talk
jeex i would hate my team to be on the end of a 6-0 thrashing.
best of luck to grimsby mate they will need it |

The 3 new American based, Uk born owners of the Latics decided that the first match of the official take over would be called "Celebration Sunday" when entry would be free for everyone at their expense. I thank Grimsby Town for their equally generous contribution.:D The gate was 13,007 fantastic. |
