To get a text (on a Saturday) from the NHS to state I have an appointment on the Monday. An appointment that I have no knowledge about and there's no way of finding out what it is till Monday. Very annoying.

A lot of serious stuff is going on at the mo, so this just makes me even more anxious than normal.

raging bull 23-01-2016 17:32

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Did the text make any reference to a location?
I sometimes get a recorded message stating time/location for Monday apps as in your case.
Hope you manage to calm down and the tests are favourable.

No, just states time, date and a number to call if I will not be attending the appointment (which is just an answerphone till Monday).

Normally I do get either the recorded messages, press 1 if attending etc, and if that failes it then goes to the landline, other times such as this I just get a text message. Though they are handy, I think might ask to stop these texts if that's possible as it's not the first time it's happened.

And thank you, I am trying to forget about till Monday at least. It's probably test results as got treatment / ops already planned hence this unwanted stress on top.

Just what I need, my dental crown has just fell out. I dread to think how much this is going to cost hopefully it won't be that much. On a plus side I have managed to get a appointment tomorrow at 09:15 as they just had someone cancel a appointment. On a funny note when I told hubby he did not even know that I had a crown and when he asked how long I have had it I simply replied more years than I care to remember ;)

I wouldn't have thought it would be that much unless you have to have a new crown. Are you NHS or Private?

I'm one of the lucky one's I'm NHS. I don't think it should be that much as I reckon it just needs to be set back in place, don't think I need a new crown.

Over the years my wife has had 3 crowns fitted, 2 have come loose and had to be re secured but eventually the teeth had to be extracted due in part to the tooth braking up.

Nothing so funky for this nope. Although most of the infrastructure is sitting on vblocks these boxes are pretty much out-of-band due to their placement in the network and certain security constraints. They're sitting on an ad-hoc ESX farm which is administered by hands and eyes. They're software based security gateways doing some element level crypto on SOAP payloads coming in via a number of sources.

Note for anyone not from the area: I live in a town right next to Dilli, and thus it is my duty to poke fun at people from Sandy! Of course I am joking and totally agree with his sentiment. Usually this sort of behaviour is also accompanied with no valid logic behind it, but it's easier to call someone an idiot than to prove someone wrong!

Scam calls...
Just got one of them scam calls about the accident I was in  first I've heard LOL anyway I asked them who they were and in fact I believe this to be a scam call and illegal not to mention that I'm actually on the TPS service. The gentleman said it was not illegal and I simply replied I think you have the wrong information as I am in fact a Lawyer then they hung up rather quickly, which was a pity as I was enjoying being a pretend Lawyer in regards to my pretend accident. I do hope they phone back as that was quite fun and has made my day tbh :D

Reminds me of a rather wierd scam call I got a few months back.

I had a call on my Landline from "Barking Police Station" claiming they'd picked up one of my cousins trying to use my bank card. Sounded quite legit and they had my name. When I asked which cousin it was, they gave me a name I didn't recognise, and while I am certain none of my cousins would have taken my card, I do know people who would nick it, and would have probably given my name if they'd have been picked up.

So, I checked my wallet and sure enough, all the cards were there. I said they could just send it to my local Police station and I'd pick it up. They said they couldn't, so I said I needed to phone the bank. They said OK, but to call back later.

I called my bank (from my mobile), spoke to their security department who said they had never heard of this, but it was probably an attempt at fraud, and I should monitor my account for a few days. Nothing came out.

Of course, I never called back (in fact, I unplugged the phone, plugged it back in again and dialled the speaking clock to check it). I never heard anything from them again.

Thankfully, where I work, the boss is quite hot on following established procedures. As such, we are all ITIL trained and almost *nothing* gets changed without a properly reviewed and approved RFC. It may seem bureaucratic, but we rely on our IT infrastructure. If any aspect of it is changed and that causes problems, the Faculty may be left unable to function. If someone makes a minor change or emergency change (such as rebooting a server), we can submit the RFC after the event. But if someone upgraded the kernel on one of the servers without an approved RFC in place and outside our approved maintenance windows, I suspect within an hour, they'd be looking for a new job.

The watch hospital in Wakefield Morrison's - there's one at the White Rose too. They replaced a couple of bits and do seem to have used genuine parts judging from the packaging the old parts returned with the watch.

250 quid blimey, mind you any Omega is pretty serious money.

I actually thought £250 was quite reasonable. I was quoted £3-400 for mine but hopefully will be less than that.

I've always liked the 60s vintage Omegas too, very nice.

I need to leave my job,.

The other week a guy at work in the Wheel bay (we are talking C-130 wheels here about 4-5ft high) had a second heart attack, but want to come back to work.

A guy in the electrical department is on a ventilator with suspected pneumonia.

a 3rd guy is in Moorfield Eye Hospital, and unlikely to be back for a few weeks.

Just found out that a old friend of mine has just had a heart attack which has come as a bit of a shock as he always looked so fit and well to me.

We all feel like this at times, well I know I do. Years ago it was the sudden loss of my wife and being left with 2 young kids. Primarily now it's worries about the future and things beyond my control, especially with regard to the Osem Jnr#2 (who we love dearly) and my dying father. Sometimes I don't even want to wake up in the morning but then I hear about all the awful stuff going on in the world and remember that there are so many people so much worse off than we are who're getting on with life in spite of all the odds. I have no idea what your situation is and appreciate things may be very bad indeed but all I can tell you is that, in my experience anyway, when I've felt like there was no hope, I've managed to change the way I feel to see things in a different light. Don't be at all reluctant to ask for help, professional or otherwise - there is no stigma.

Best of luck to you. :tu:

Woke up at 5:27am this morning, thought ##### and jumped out of bed as i start work 17 miles away at 6am, then i realised i was on late shift so luckily got back in bed again or i would have been late!

Mine is my sudden intolerance to eggs. Never had a problem with them, then suddenly after Christmas developed an intolerance to them. Cut eggs out of my diet, and I feel fine. Trouble is, I love eggs. What I'd give for some scrambled eggs right now, but not worth it for the discomfort I am in after eating them.

Thanks den, but what amazes me is I had Yorkshire puddings on Sunday and was fine. Yet if I have them on their own then I suffer. Weird. Wonder what this means for flu jab this year.

Haha! A lucky escape.

I've done that before. Bolted out of bed thinking I was late on a Saturday or just reading the time wrong.
