Get yourself some rechargable batteries and an EA Access pass for £20 a year and checkout CDkeys.com for cheap digital games.

Fifa 15 Deluxe is currently on offer in the Xbox store for a digital download of only £27.50, not sure how long for though, most digital games are £54.99 so always check for offers and the above site.

I'd advise anyone who relies on their Xbox One for BBC iPlayer to avoid the February update preview for now - the current build causes iPlayer to crash :(

It is a *known issue* though, with a couple of threads in the preview forums and with comments from Xbox staff saying that they are aware of it and are working on a fix.


Luckily for me, pretty much every other device I have (except the Wii U) also has iPlayer.

Got my One this morning. When I turn it off, with the power saving option not on, it takes ages to switch off. Something like 10 minutes earlier today. It was still flashing the logo on the front of the console after 20 minutes so just pulled the mains power from it to turn it off.

Anyone else had this?

You really shouldn't turn it off at the mains unless the PSU light is orange.

And if the logo was still flashing, it could well have been doing something...


The console syncs when you turn it off, as all saves are cached locally and then synced with the XBL servers ("cloud" saves) at shutdown.

Also, if you have auto-updates enabled in addition to Instant On, it will periodically check for updates when in standby, and perhaps when you turn it off depending what the time is.


Maybe it was updating the system or games/apps, or perhaps it was taking longer than normal to sync?

Don't power it off at the plug at night as it updates silently as Matt says, and never do it if the white light is flashing as it is then doing a firmware update.

Yes don't just unplug it. It will have been updating something. Just leave it and it will shut down once everything is completed.

Thanks for the replies. As I said, I'm impatient and expect it to turn off right away. Think I will just leave it to turn off on it's own overnight in future. As in, hit the power button to turn off and then leave it.

For those in the preview program there is a new firmware for wireless controllers.

It's improves stability and speeds up controller power up and connection from 3-5 seconds to around 2 seconds.

reason for that is it will be saving and backing up and checking for updates probably. with the quick start enabled it can do all of that in low power stand by mode. Also boots up a heck of a lot faster from that state.

I got it when I got mine, but now I have GTA V I am playing the Hell out of that. Really don't have a problem with graphics or gameplay, but someone on another Forum said the graphics were blocky and glitchy.

Has anyone tried changing their DNS settings on the Xbox One to watch Netflix USA as apparently this can be done?

If it works does it affect anything else on the Xbox One like Xbox Store and multiplayer servers?

If anything like the 360, then you should be able to download apps only available in USA. Not changed it myself, but the Unblock-us website has steps to change the DNS settings for the One. Not changed myself so cannot give a definitive answer.

Just checked online and changing the DNS will let me watch Netflix USA via the console but it won't change the Store region this gets done via my account.

Speed maybe affected but i will give it a go with a free Netflix trial in a few weeks.

I'm getting back in to Far Cry 4, god those Honey Badgers are vicious buggers a clip from a AK47 and the git still was ****ed.

I also found if you shot big animals one you can use explosive weapons and get undamaged skins, as a bear found out with a grenade boy did he fly :D

Yup.

All BF4 expansion packs are multiplayer only.


If you want to play a good singleplayer shooter, I really recommend Wolfenstein: The New Order.

COD Advanced Warfare is also very good, much better than COD Ghosts and BF4.

You use the media player app, you can put the PIC on a memory stick and access it via the change background options, I forget the exact way from the X1 settings though.

I've beenn on a bit in the last couple of days.

Strange thing though. I bought the game in the Christmas sale on xbox live and its the deluxe with the 6 DLC included. However if I try to play the most recent one it is trying to make me buy it, however when logged on to xbox.com the add on comes up stating I own it.

Little confused as I should own it but within the game it seems to say I don't. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes I used to have that a few weeks back, all I could do was a reset the Xbox and it would be resolved for a week or so.

Have you downloaded and installed the DLC packs? Manage Game and see if they are available to download.

Also, try the 'Additional Content' option in the main menu and see what it says about the content packs. It should tell you what you own and let you download.

That version comes with the season pass and they tell you not to purchase the dlc as you will be charged.

Have you actually gone and downloaded the dlc, i need to check if i have or not too?

Well when I bought it it automatically downloaded the 4 available dlc packs.

However having gone to the manage game section the other two packs were available for me to download. I'd have thought though they should show as purchased within the game and offer me to download from there too?

Oh well I have them now and am going to have a go before packing up my console as moving at the end of the week.

I cant play as often as i used to due to work etc, so it is difficult to play a game for hours but since a few days ago i am really enjoying the challenge on Trials, i expect you to beat often though as you can play more.

I can understand and to be honest I'm not sure where I find the hours to put into these games. I'm enjoying the challenge - except last night trying to beat your score on Observatory. It took me a LOT of goes to beat. There was one bit with the lift section that you always shot ahead of me and I couldn't work it out. Got there in the end though.

One tip, when you get missions (Lester especially) that gets to to target a company, they will talk about putting shares on a company.

Put as much as you can as the share price will rocket.

Also play the stock market in game (there are 2) put money on those that are under $1, again prices are going to go up.

Playing the market right you can pocket billions.

You only do the first one he gives you and then leave the rest till after the game and you can end up with billions on each character.
