Cheers MM,
The update looks great, I just don't like the waiting game whilst Sky rollout the EPG. :( |
Re: General Sky TV Discussion
My main box was updated last night, I had a quick look this morning before work and I must say that Sky continue to impress me! I don't know how they cram so much into a 8 year old box without it ever slowing down. The new movie layout in particular looks very nice :)

I will look forward to whatever Sky have in stall for us next. Hopefully a 4K Ultra HD box :D |

I've binned the movies, I was expecting to be transferred to retentions and offered a deal, but they don't even bother anymore. You can just cancel on the website.
They can't compete with Netflix or nefarious streaming sites, so looks like they've thrown in the towel |
Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Your shocked they've cancelled your movies despite you ringing and asking for them to do it ?
How inconsiderate of them.:) |

Re: General Sky TV Discussion
People have been asking for online downgrading for ages , the facility is already available and has been for sometime on Now TV.
Most offers for Sky Movies are added to your My Sky or mailed out to the customer. Now TV movie pass at £9.99 is cheaper than Sky Movies on the satellite platform or it can be had even cheaper if bought as a bundle with the Now TV box. |

Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Updated the sky+ app on ipad this morning. Had a browse in new and recommended and decided to have a look at Criminal Minds S10E01. I find it's available On Demand but, for some reason, there is no option to record it only an option to watch it.
This is the first time I have come across this. I checked some other Eps in On Demand and they all have an option to Record. Is this a bug or is there something special about the Ep in question? |

Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Quote from article:
"The focus on portability and user-friendliness has been prepared with penetration of 4K screens very low, in spite of prices coming down rapidly." Of course there isn't get take up of 4K, because there is not enough content available, and people are waiting to see what Sky, Virgin Media, BT are going to produce in 4K and how much more will it cost them to watch it. |
Re: General Sky TV Discussion
I would say portability is of more immediate importance for the likes of Sky and VM , with Netflix and Amazon already offering their content on a multitude of devices with cloud bookmarking this is badly needed.

Sky could easily introduce a new Now box with higher quality streams using the h.265 HEVC codec which is more efficient than h.264 for both HD and 4K content. Edit: I suppose the only problem with using HEVC for HD streams would be that Now TV would be incompatible with current devices being that they aren't capable of handling HEVC. |
