That's what I thought at first too however Box Nation will show at least 2 live shows per week, including full under card. £10.00 per month for 8 live shows isn't too bad. I'm a boxing nut who usually shells out £15.00 on PPV every 2 months, and a subscription to SKY Sports so this for me is good value. It means a genuine boxing fan can get access to regular top British and World events without the need to subscribe to SKY Sports.

What is £10 these days anyway? 30 cigarettes. If you smoke, try and smoke 1 less cigarette per day. Over the period of a month you'd have saved enough money to subscribe to Box Nation:D God I've been reading so much about Box Nation online I've started to adopt Frank Warrens marketing B.S. :D

Blimey, where do you buy your buskfast that cheap?!

At least boxing fans will have a choice to get their channel and pay extra for it if they want - I can certainly understand why they would, I'd most likely be prepared to pay an extra tenner for Sky Atlantic HD if that were an option!

Yes Sky Atlantic is the one l would like the most along with Sky Movies classic which happily comes in the next week or two.

I'm so close. Got a quote last night, read all the terms and conditions, tried to find out what my new broadband speed would really be like with SKY and asked the wife for permission...... it's almost all systems go. Now the idea is in her head, all the Mrs. is talking about is SKY Atlantic:D

The fly in the ointment is Box Nation have just added a video stream facility to their website. It means until they go subscription based, and arrive on Virgin, I can watch all the action on my PC. My monitor is 23 inches so I can live with this until Frank Warren and Virgin reach agreement.

So for now I'm with Virgin however I really need to start hearing something positive about Box Nation.

You'd seriously pay £10 for that one channel? It's not even a premium channel.
Where would you draw the line? Would you then pay another £10 a month if they launched another new channel?

I agree with you re Sports HD3/4 as for Atlantic it's ok some decent shows but also some junk , they're bound to advertise it aggressively though after all they paid enough for the content.

Sky Movies Classics HD launches at 6am on the 5th of october not the 4th according to this. Is this wrong ?

IS there space on the VM Network to bring in channels and if so how many can it carry ?

Back in dec 2010 virgin media said they had path to grow to 80 HD channels in next 2 or 3 years
Quote:

Dec. 02. 2010 / 9:30AM, VMED - Virgin Media Inc. Analyst and Investors Day (London)
It is separate from the broadcast connectivity that we have where effectively we are providing 300 standard definition channels, 30 HD channels at the moment, but with a path to grow to 80 HD channels over the next two years, or three years.
page 10
http://phx.corporate-ir.net/External...xUeXBlPTM=&t=1
They are spending thousands and thousands upgrading the tv system so we will get a lot more HD channels.

As long as people keep paying exorbitant prices and they have a stranglehold over certain exclusive sports/movie content, Sky will NEVER stop overcharging. I've considered BSkyB way too expensive ever since they started trading in the early 90s and I just don't see that changing.

I fully respect your passion for the channel. Rather than shelling out £120.00 per year on SKY Atlantic, you'd be cheaper buying DVD box sets of their shows directly from America. Alternatively everything that is on SKY Atlantic is already available for free from non reputable torrent sites. It all depends how much you really want to watch a programme, and if your cool with TV piracy.

Anyways I hope you get your channel and I hope you don't have to pay a tenner for the benefit.

Well BoxNation did say on September 22nd:

We will be making further announcements in due course regarding distribution, including with Virgin Media.
So talks are still ongoing and someone put an Virgin logo up on the BoxNation web site far too early.

Us Virgin customers can watch the up and coming live broadcasts on Box Nations free official stream here:

http://www.miomni.com/boxnation/

I believe the channel launches tomorrow at 7:00pm as Liam Walsh takes on Paul Appleby. There is also live action on Saturday from Germany.

I would have preferred to watch this on my big TV in the living room however until the deal with Virgin is done, I'll happily accept this alternative.

It's free!

More info on Channel 890.

Virgin are NOT testing any new channels out on Channel 890 (And Channels 891 and 892 in Virgin HQ.) I have been told they are just THREE new frequency testing to see if all areas can deal with the new frequency ahead of added new channels on that frequency.

Sky Movies Classic HD and the new UKTV Channels coming on Tuesday (Info from three TV listings books) are using an old frequency.

Can anyone confirm what package the following channels will go into

Yesterday
Eden HD
Eden +1
Good Food
Watch HD

I would say all the above should go into Package L and XL.

Dave HD

M+, L and XL as Dave is free to air with freeview.

I have not been told yet but I think.

-Yesterday +1 will be on the M+ Package due to Yesterday being on Freeview,
-The other SD Channels will be on the L Package.
-The HD Channels will be on the XL Package,

Good theory however E4 is on freeview too however E4 HD is only on the XL package. I fully expect the UKTV HD channels to be XL only.

Gone are the days of the 3pm games as Sky and Espn like to televise games at the times that will give them the biggest TV audience.

No, they like to televise them when it is legal for them to do so. The can't show 3pms due to the tv blackout on football to protect the lower leagues. Nothing to do with audience figures at all.

It appears that Sky Classic Movies HD will be available for M+ package subscribers. I checked last night and again just now, and unlike non-package channels which are grayed out in TiVo's EPG this one is red like the regulars, and of course shows the first movie as being Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as previously indicated. I've set it to record so if it does, very nice, an extra HD movie channel at no extra cost. :D

Actually I notice Double Indemnity is on later that day (Tues 4th), it's a classic, maybe I should set it up to record that instead. ;)

Just a bit of news beleive it or not its upto you.
In the process of moving from sky to virgin but didnt want to loose sky atlantic sales guy offered me a good deal and told me that sky atlantic would be on virgin media within 2 months. He agreed that if it wasnt i could cancel my contract and not be tied into the 18months. Paperwork arrived today nothing on it. Phoned them up and once i got through to someone higher up they confirmed my deal, and i have recieved an email with a copy in the post with a new right to cancel.
He then told me that they have internally been given a launch date of the 27th november, not sure if anyone has a contact in vm to check this with. They seem confident, never known sky or virgin give a new customer a getout clause like that before.
Im sure people think this is made up and thats fine, im just passing on information i recieved thats all.

I hate it when Customer Relations do that. They get told the same time as everyone else as to whether new channels launch or not, so as there has been no announcement that Sky Atlantic will launch, they aren't being truthful

i think its unlikley that will be correct (the channel coming) becuase as far as im aware sales have no idea if and when channels are coming, if im wrong im sure someone will correct me. Unless its come from a realable source (media boy :) i wouldnt believe it

All i know is someone is right, i just passed on what i was told, im not sure it was customer services i ended up speaking to as they started off by dismissing the fact virgin would ever allow me to leave early. I ended being transfured to a few other people, funny when you mention you have been sold something wrongfully. I do have an email giving me the right to cancel early if sky atlantic isnt on with 2 months, that much i can guarentee, it may just be a sales tactic hoping that ill stay with virgin after ive had tivo for a couple of months.
Dishonest if it is though
