I also got a nice 4 figure cheque (out of court settlement) :D

That is fantastic news and hopefully it will end up being full time. Congratulations as well on getting the cheque. Really happy for you ;)

Happy thought is - another car on its way :)
And retiring from decades of doing the job I loved... but will be handing my pass back and then riding off on the back of a black beauty/beast.

If you can say that with any certainty you should be presenting that show!

However that's a philosophical debate as much as a scientific one, I'll stick with what we know, what we can demonstrate, what we can confidently extrapolate or theorise - this starts Planck time after the Big Bang so anything before then is a mystery! :)

Have you started the Numeracy course yet, and if so how are you finding it?

Start it next week. I have done the diagnostic part, which finds out strong/weak areas though. :)

I am sure you will succeed in the Numeracy test as well as you did in your Literacy test. :tu:

I have just looked at a Level 1 sample paper and ended up doing it. I used to love those tests at school and they don't seem to have changed much in all the intervening years although we had, if my memory serves me correctly, more green grocery questions and rolls of wall paper seemed to feature quite a few times. :)

I still found myself arguing with the dang things though. :D

Here's the one I just did if anyone wants to have a go.

An excellent show that. I love Brian Cox. He has such an incredibly knack for making things interesting. Rock star turned prof. of physics. Gotta love it :)

He does it with such enthusiasm, the infectious smile and glittering eyes as he does his delivery is amazing.

Bought the Blu Rays of both 'Wonders' series. Look forward to next year's Wonders of Life :)

One of your 11+ tests wasn't verbal reasoning? :erm:

I had both a verbal reasoning test, basically maths, and a literacy test. I'd probably fail both now given how lazy we've become with technology doing everything for us.

In addition mini-me is away from home until Friday on a school trip. We've a packed schedule of afternoon tea today, dinner later, then lunch and dinner tomorrow.

Oh there might have been some maths etc in there but I didn't notice it :D
I'm guessing that you are way younger than me. I think mine was more an IQ test.

Now - Real test would be could-I-still-pass-my driving-license-test. Some of my bad habits are shocking.

I got a new 2GB micro SD card for my phone together with an adapter. Dragged everything across from the old to the new card and all the bits and bobs still work. Very pleased with myself. :D

Ya I can imagine and Its so hard and I do understand but at least she for now knows who you are and if you dont get to see her while she is growing up just remember she will make the decision to come to see you when she gets older as she will want to know about you.

Console yourself with the other things you've missed, ****** nappies, sleepless nights, toddler tantrums etc

It will all make that first hug all the more special when it happens. Hopefully soon. Chin up mate:)

Zing maybe you could consider writing her an open letter. Record your feelings and the things you would tell her if you were having ,say, a weekly visit with her. Just a few lines each week to show her that she has been in your thoughts.

When you do meet, or when she is old enough to make the decision to met you and you give the letter to her it will be something I am sure she will treasure as it will give her a taste of what it would have been like to know you as she grew up. Add photos of the puppy you would have like her to see and the big sister she could have shared experiences with.
