Very true, but you can't bring that in during the season. If its to be a new initivate by the FA ( and I hope they will consider it) then it needs to be brought in at the start of a season, not 3/4 of the way through.

The point I was making was that Rooney dived and got away with it so its hardly biased FA.

ok fair point they both have and so have a number of other clubs as well..

would be nice if the FA, UEFA and FIFA did bring this sort of thing in.. trouble is as long as money is coming in these organisations don't seem to care

:D

Great minds must think alike then because I never heard him say it.

What really peeved me last night was Ian Darke's persistant comments about what happened in the tunnel prior to the game, also hoping more similar stuff would happen on the pitch, which it almost did.

The media are pathetic at times.

It is only a game of football after all.

had to post this:

Quote:

Nightclub bouncer Andy Wain, 39, raised the red card in his own direction after losing his cool with a player.

He stunned the crowd and marched off towards the changing rooms with his head bowed following a row with goalkeeper Richard McGaffin.

Later, Mr Wain said: "I squared up to the goalkeeper and it was totally unprofessional. I was responsible for his reaction.

"I would like to carry on refereeing, but I have told the league secretary I want some time out of the game."

in all fairness he should not have been out there.

You have to hope. If Man Utd and Arsenal both beat Chelsea then the gaps 5 points. Then we just have to hope that Chealsea can draw a few games. Of course we have to keep putting the pressure onto Chelsea, can't afford any more slipups between now and the rest of the season.

sherer 03-02-2005 15:25

Re: [Merged] Football talk

good news from UEFA.. from the 06 \ 07 season all UEFA comps, not national leagues, will have to field 4 "homegrown players" although this only means a player that has been at the club for 3 years, whatever his nationality it is a step in the right direction..

see

http://www.teamtalk.com/teamtalk/New...287195,00.html

and

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...pe/4233353.stm

if that was in place this season then arsenal, chelsea, celtic and ajax wouldn't be eligable with their current squads..

this is good as a national league side should predominantly have players born in that country it is part of the identity of a club and was one of the worst things to come out of the Bosman club..

a club should represent the community it is from not just be made of a collection of players who have been bought like the Chelsea side,, even the Man U side has been mainly bought nowour last crop of youth players are getting old..

I don't think that rule will make clubs represent the community any more than they do currently.

sherer 03-02-2005 16:11

Re: [Merged] Football talk

no fraid it won't.. for instance Ruud or Hasselbaink would quality as players developed by the Premier League as they have played here for more than 3 years.

Also by the time it comes into force most of the Spanish people at Liverpool and Portuguese at Chelsea will be classed as home grown..

it's a compromise but a step in the right direction.. if only the EU would understand that football is meant to represent the community it is from then UEFA could go further with these rules..

They wouldn't as you have to be between 16 and 21 when you spend your 3 season in a country.

no there are two different types two places for players developed by the club which is players who have been at the same club from the ages of 15-21 for more than three seasons.. e.g cole at arsenal.. gerrard at liverpool.. even scholes and the nevilles come as this as during those ages they were at United..

the other is two places for players from that association which means players that have been playing in that league for 3 seasons.. i.e hasselbaink.. ruud etc

this increases to three places and then four places in the next 2 seasons

hargreaves would be ok for any german side or for Bryan Minich as he came through their youth system but if he went to England he couldn't fill up one of the 4 spaces in the as he hasn't played in the premiership or bing developed by a premiership clubs youth system

Thats not how I read it.

Of those totals, half must have trained with the club for three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21, while the other half must have completed the same period of training for another club in the same national association.

A club-trained player is defined as a player who has been registered for a minimum of three seasons with the club between the age of 15 and 21, whereas an association-trained player is a player who has been registered for at least three seasons by the club or by other clubs affiliated to the same association of the said club between the age of 15 and 21.

Viera started it when he went up to Gary Neville and said " You won't kick us all over the park like you did at OT"

Keane then stood up for him and told Viera to pick on someone his own size and start on him instead..

Once again Arsenal start something in the tunnel and they get away with it.

yesterday I was watching the Wales v England rugby match...

the ref in that match was a youngish former player who knew the game, unlike footbal,l as they are in most matches.. he got most of the decisions right as they usually do despite rugby being a more complicated game.. he was even treated with respect by every player..

when he made a decision the other team didn't surround him and chase him all over the pitch..

at one point he sent 2 players off and each of them just stood there said nothing and listened to him then walked off.. there was no 5 mins of swearing and arguing that you get in football.. maybe the FA should talk to the iRB and RFU and find out how they can get it so right and football can get it so wrong

So what, he's rich and the football biz is what you have a director of football or ex-players on the board for. Do you lot have Charlton on the board still?

If you lot don't want Glazer tell him there's a club called Nottingham Forest that have won the European Cup the same number of times as United and have been mismanaged off the field for about ten years and whose fans would appreciate him...

He may be rich, but his first attempt to takeover Utd would have actually left Utd in debt. Not the sort of thing that the fans want is it? Doesn't really inspire confidence...

Whatever you say, he's still a successful businessman and has a track record.

As I said, I'd LOVE him to buy Doughnut out of Forest, the guy has NO IDEA how to run a football club and is slowly asset-stripping the club.

It's been rumoured as part of the Reid/Dawson deal Spurs have to pay 2-3m if we go down. Down we go then...

As an Arsenal fan would love to see that happen and then have the pleasure of ribbing the United Fans about a title won by default.

Hey lets not stop there though, deduct Chelski the 4 points as it was Cole they approached add the 4 points deducted to Arsenal and then United can rib us over a title won by default.

I think that the only people that would call the teams that, both the Utd and Spurs names, are the fans of opposing teams, who are trying to have a go at them.

Mighty Leicester = oxymoron.

Yes we won 0-0 again. Megson's trying to get the rule changed so 0-0 gets you three points... lol

We just need a striker who can score, none of ours seem capable. Johnson is playing cack, Taylor's in defence, Ming is lazy as f*ck, and he doesn't seem to start Harris for some reason.

We're not conceding now, just need to score a few.

1 - 3

SWP for England

Makaay (2) and Kuyt for the Dutch

A comfortable win for Holland.

Be nice to see him score but I dont think so. To bigger stage for him at this time.

I have a feeling we will beat the dutch

Nugget 09-02-2005 12:47

Re: [Merged] Football talk

I agree with Russ and gazzae - we've got a good enough team to beat the Dutch (or at least we would have if every English central defender hadn't withdrawn from the squad :dozey: ), but we just don't appear to take friendlies seriously :( .

I'll be happy if we get a goal, but I'm not expecting much more than that.

i just hope AJ has a good game.. hope he gets to cope on when the core of the team is still and not when we have 10 other people who don't really play as then you won't be able to see how good he is

nffc 09-02-2005 18:58

Re: [Merged] Football talk

I was thinking about my personal XI earlier, and I couldn't find a place for Beckham.

Wright-Phillips and Downing down the wings (R and L) with Gerrard and Lampard in the centre. Flat obviously.

The defence picks itself, injuries, and strikers 2 from Rooney, Owen and Johnson. I'd probably play Rooney and Owen to start bringing Johnson on for Owen at HT.

sherer 09-02-2005 20:02

Re: [Merged] Football talk

i hope AJ gets to play with Rooney.. he's too similar to Owen for them to play together.. Defoe will play at some point as well

Re: [Merged] Football talk

was one of the most boring matches i ever saw.. Wright-Philips gace the ball away too many times and when they brought AJ on they made him play on the right wing :Yikes:

Why would I want to support England?? I imagine it would be harder to be an England supporter than a Northern Irish one, after all we know we're ****e! It must hurt when all the media tells you that you'll walk the competition but then you flop out as usual. :p:

As for our last win I believe it was in June when we beat the MIGHTY Trinidad & Tobago.

Oh my eyes they've seen the glory of 1982,
when little Northern Ireland showed the world what they could do.
Now Lawrie is our leader and we're comming after you.
And this is why we sing, oh.....

We're not Brazil we're Northern Ireland
We're not Brazil we're Northern Ireland
We're not Brazil we're Northern Ireland
But it's all the same to me!

Here is a small one for RussD :D

Arsenal's Jose Antonio Reyes has been involved in a radio hoax in Spain, where he was tricked into admitting his desire to join Real Madrid. :D

Apparently there is some bad feeling between Henry and Reyes, ever since Reyes supported Aragones over the Henry comment.

Lanashire are the greatest.

See I told you that Lancashire folk are the greatest.............. From todays paper.

Lancashire hot shots

They used to say you could whistle down a coal mine up north and a fast bowler or centre-half would emerge. Well, Lancashire has the highest number of capped players in eight of the most popular sports over the last 100 years †“ 14 per cent †“ and has also been the birthplace of the largest number of top footballers with 19 per cent, two points more than London.

The county's top five footballers caps-wise are Tom Finney (76), Gary Neville (now 73), Alan Ball (69), Paul Scholes (66) and David Watson (65). The survey of 36 English counties was carried out by Barclays for their Spaces for Sports campaign, a £30 million investment in facilities and equipment. :tu:
