Oh well I stuck my neck out and made a predication and got it wrong, just like everyone else too! Iâ€™m one of the new TiVo customers myself, or at least I will be next week when it gets installed.

What impresses me is the following statement:

â€œWe are seeing this demand for TiVo from both new and existing customers, with around one third of all TiVo subscribers being new to Virgin Media.â€

Iâ€™m sure itâ€™s in the figures somewhere but overall how many new TV customers did Virgin attract in the last quarter?

These 34,500 customers most likely went to Freeview or Freesat.

New sign-ups to Spotify must be Facebook members.

So the big question is, how does this impact on the deal between Virgin and Spotify, if at all? If someone is interested in getting Spotify via Virgin, surely they won't be forced to open a Facebook account first?

It also looks like people with a Smart TV, with access to the Facebook app will be able to access their Spotify account / tunes via the Facebook website.

It would appear selling Spotify as an app to TiVo customers is going to be more challenging than Virgin thought?

No they won't. Virgin customers can still sign up using the old method if they don't want to use their Facebook details. Of course if they do want to use their Facebook details, that will also be possible

This is if they specifically sign up via Virgin Media though.
