This is going to be the future and as you have said VM have positioned themselves very well. They and a few others are getting themselves ready for this.

Not a clue pal , I always check my recordings and make sure there's no clashes , my Sky+ app tells me alternative airings for all shows , so I just set it to record at a time it won't clash.

l just check my recordings each day to make sure things don,t clash as well.

While I agree re TIVO , I still think the big threat is from sub free connected TVs and Youview , don't forget you have to pay a sub for TIVO .

Yes I know that, But how many Apps are going to be free of charge in the future or the ones now also offer a premium product as well. So if they are able to get the premium ones in the subs:) It will be very interesting times ahead:D

I can only compare to V+ and Sky , both of which I've never had any series link issues , apart from V+ not having a dynamic epg and missing 1 or 2 minutes at the end Of a show , not had this with Sky though.

I've had several instances of missing episodes from series links, and series links breaking half way through a series and having to set a new one. As an example, on my parents' V+ box they have a series link for The Ultimate Fighter on ESPN, which missed last night's episode (and it doesn't help that the repeat of that episode has been bumped from the schedule due for the NBA playoffs).

I must have been lucky with my links , I can defo say though thats never been an issue at all with Sky.

So, in the event of there not being all these repeats, does anyone know how a dynamic EPG would handle the situation I outlined?

Don't forget that all the five main channels now have Catch-Up services available on VM ;)

Can you see a Lovefilm app becoming a part of say XL ? I can maybe see TIVO users getting a discount to sub to them but can't see free , but who knows we'll have to wait and see.

Almost never use catch up; remember, I'm a 'record everything' Tivo person! :D (shame on you Carl for suggesting anything else :D;))

I was just interested as to what would happen. On the face of it, a dynamic EPG sounds good and people wonder why it wasn't incorporated into Tivo. I was just thinking of possible downsides, and the one I described could possibly be one?

But it isn't really a downfall of dynamic epg its a downfall of having two tuners and not three , imagine the three tuner TIVO with a dynamic epg , now that would be something.

Just ordered my TiVo 500GB box! :) Install id on Wednesday between 1 and 6 so not a long wait.
Just a few questions - is the BBC Red Button on the box yet and other red button e.g ITV and Channel 5?

Also, has anyone got any videos of them using the box on YouTube for example?

The BBC red button isn't on yet.
