Basically when you sign up you get it fixed for 12 months based on the formula used for that period. |

When Ive switched, the new supplier usually contacted me to say my meter is past its working life, and needs changing. Each time Ive replied saying not interested, and they have not really bothered me again. Quote:
The majority of old meters are now approaching EOL, and are no longer made, so SMART is the only replacement choice. If they want, they can force you to change, just like they can force you onto prepay. So far they choose not to do this, but the time will come. On top of that, they are slowly making all the better/cheaper tariffs for SMART meters only, so holding out will eventually just cost you more. There comes a point when it just makes little sense to keep waiting, a point I have now reached. ---------- Post added at 19:50 ---------- Previous post was at 19:48 ---------- Quote:

So I understood it to mean you paid the tracker price each day. [ Easily done since SMART meters can take daily readings ] What you describe is nothing more than a fixed rate tariff. That seems pointless and doesnt seem like it needs a smart meter either. |

You get a daily fixed tracker price and you will know tomorrow's prices before midnight. Octopus for whatever reason have to change the formula used for the Tracker which seems to be every 3 months, I guess this is because of price cap changes. The Tracker Tariff for December 2023 which is fixed(formula) for 12 months which you could get up until it was changed in April is more favourably prices than April or Julys versions. |
Re: Smart Meter, Yae or Nae?
Looking on the Octopus site, the price changes daily.

The price per unit changes daily (using the formula). You keep that fixed formula for 12 months. |

THEY MAKE OUT LIKE BANDITS!! http://techwellness.com/blogs/expert...out-for-health Not everything new in this world IS GOOD..... Here’s why people, communities and governments around the world are rejecting smart meters:

To be blunt here, you really are talking complete bollox now.
If you believe that complete nonsense I'm sure we can sell you a tin foil hat or two. |

Have you any idea how many radio frequencies are already around you every day! A smart meter ain't gonna make any difference. TV signals, AM/FM radios. Mobile phones, wireless networking.....I could go on. Excessive billing is 100% fabricated conspiracy and paranoia, same for data breaches and electrical fires. Stop reading rubbish. |

Also in the USA since the invention of the transistor all babies have had one embedded in their brain within an hour of birth to enable CIA mind control. I'd be much more worried about that than a smart meter. |
Re: Smart Meter, Yae or Nae?
Dude111 you talk so much bloody bollox it's shocking.

Re: Smart Meter, Yae or Nae?
Cybersecurity breaches
Interception of personal identity information These are somewhat valid concerns. The greater issue is a huge amount of micromanaging your domestic lives with price changes in order to achieve some mythical net zero goal. Or cutting of your electricity if they decide they don't like you. |
