Also Atlantic hasn't past its USP date as this thread is basically the 'When is Sky Atlantic coming?' thread, so people clearly want it and having an exclusive on something people want is a selling point.

BT will gain some new BB customers, undoubtedly, but again that period will soon come to an end and they'll need to ensure revenue from all available providers.

You're right re Atlantic - I should say that it's past its USP date from Sky's selling point, with the exception of harvesting new viewers, not customers, through other providers. The gains would come through increase in VM's TV XL subs (plus those from BT Vision if they're included) and possibly advertisting revenue?

August 1st is when they rebrand Sky Atlantic to Sky Atlantic 2

and Pick TV is rebranded Sky Atlantic.

I assume this is just a joke and not factual in any way! ;)

IMuppetman11, could you please explain where you think the potential massive increase would come from? From using a bit of logic, and of course Bomber's recent revelations, it would make no sense that I can see to increase the price of the XL TV package when adding these channels.

The trade off of sports channels is a straight swap - ESPN for BT Sports. And Atlantic has definitely passed it's "unique selling point" best by date. And from what many forum members will tell you, it's of no interest to them, so VM won't get away with charging extra to add it.

Is it though I'm not so sure , ESPN were a broadcaster who wanted their channel to reach as many platforms as possible , BT on the other hand are using their sports channel to entice people to bring their landline/BB back to them , their selling the channel direct on Sky its free if you have their BB or £12 if you do not.

I'm not saying it won't be included in XL however I do still favour it being at an additional cost but that's just my opinion , I'm happy to be proven wrong if Bombers info is correct it certainly will be a good deal.

I just want the box to record the programmes I want when they are on, even if programmes run early or late etc.

Was over 18 months of having the Tivo before I even bothered to try out a wishlist, and just seems a novelty and soon wore off. Other things on the Tivo are mostly gimmick and the apps are clunky too.

So in over 2 years of having the Tivo other than having 3 tuners, nothing special, I'd be quite happy with the Sky+HD box, just would rather it had 3 tuners.

Except they are undoubtedly using the sports channels to attract new customers to BT Infinity. The will want to keep attracting more customers as they expand the service across the country. Their roll-out schedule shows that some exchanges won't be upgraded until 2015 and they haven't all been added to the schedule yet, so that period probably won't come to an end any time soon.

Which is a long term implementation period - sosurely they'll need /want to recoup some of their sports investment sooner? Perhaps they'll see how it goes and may add something extra to entice new customers at a later date.

One of the best novelties I've ever had. I use it for actors/actresses/musicians, films I want to see and forthcoming shows that haven't found a UK broadcaster yet or aren't on the EPG and thus can't have a series link set for them. Shows from the past that I've previously missed also go on a wishlist.

Having had Whishlist functionality, I would find it hard to live without.

I agree - when used correctly, the Wishlist and recording feature is excellent and hard to live without!

I just like series links that work, both Sky+ with the 'New' problem and the V+ with another labelling problem are absolutely useless.

I use "never miss" on sky. Quite handy

Not if the sports investment is a long term recruitment plan.

If they had a 1gb V+ box with 3 tuners that would have done me.
