What uses VM may have for the USB port are in the future i.e. not known right now. |

Re: superhub 2
My instinct is that if they load more onto the SH2 CPU it'll open a can of support worms as some of the SH1 behaviours start to appear. I've got nothing more concrete to back that up - but this is a £15 piece of kit so it'kk have the dead minimum of everything - including the 2009 originated (prolly evolved slightly) Puma 5 DOCSIS chip.

Re: superhub 2
A USB file system is notoriously CPU hungry. Even on my half decent consumer router I found it was just too slow to be of any real use for anything but streaming music. Actually putting the music on it took hours as did getting it back off and it was quicker to yank the stick and plug it into a desktop in the end.
So if VM enable it, I can see it being for something else. Like a phone. |
Re: superhub 2
It's a USB host; so I reckon it's intended for attached storage. Certainly that's what the CGD3700 splurge says.

Re: superhub 2
Not if they wished to avoid the risk of having a USB host screw up the SH2 launch. They might well suspect what we're mooting here. indeed, before it reached us, it might well have been working for internal tests.

Take a look at Comcast xfinity home, it may give an indication of where they are heading with this. |
Re: superhub 2
Going to be moving house in a few weeks and as they won't let me take my staff package (no longer staff), I'll have to set up a new account. Quietly hoping for a SH2 but no big deal if I get a SH1.

Just to check, I can order one of these now?

Re: superhub 2
Yup, that's exactly what's happening. The way I figure it, I COULD just transfer my account onto mates rates but then I'd probably be stuck with the old V+ box. If I just close my account and get the Mate's Rates set up in the Wife's name, we'll get all shiny new equipment (ala TiVo).
I know so many people at Virgin, I'd be stupid not to, even if FTTC was available in the area we're moving to (which it's not). Hell, there's enough staff on this forum, I'm surprised we don't see more people begging for it on here. |
