Theone. I do the jokes on this forum. There the jokers of the Tv world

The directors are probably in the pub right now, checking out what channels they can get free

Director Tv - Learn about Golf on Tv which will be £3.00 per month

Virgin Showcase - Brand new channels are there that we cannot get

Virgin Media bid to buy BSKYB. But cannot agree on what channels to lose

Media News Channels - testing, but cannot show until directors agree on what to charge the customer.

SA. Directors get the channel at last but want to put it on Subscription. Then we see a a Pink Elephant at Gatwick

Have a laugh guys. Its nearly Christmas

Looks like Colors HD is coming to VM.

The owners have received an Ofcom licence to broadcast in HD on cable & satellite.

It's not yet known if this will replace or compliment the existing SD service.

Wasn't this a standalone channel before moving into M+ (or the new equivalent)?

This is a Hindi channel and would only be the third Asian channel to broadcast in HD, after the launches of &TV HD and Star Plus HD (don't know if VM have these, or if they're satellite only).

BBC News: Russia Today bank accounts 'frozen in UK'

NatWest bank has frozen the accounts of state-run broadcaster Russia Today (RT), its editor-in-chief says.

Virgin Media do broadcast RT on Virgin Media Ireland.

That mean nothing. They need an licence to broadcast anywhere.

Re: Colors HD, i'm not sure what you mean by "they need a licence to broadcast anywhere"

It just mean it can launch or Sky, Freesat and Virgin Media - or even outside the UK.

If Colors is launching an HD Channel (As first reported by Bizasia) it don't mean it set to launch on Virgin Media UK any time soon.

Viacom18 has still to be given to licence for Rishtey Cineplex to launch on Freeview (We look it up on the Ofcom web site early on today).

I see what you mean now.

I've since found out that Ofcom no longer require different licenses for SD & HD channels, so it's possible that the SD variant may continue alongside any HD emission and agree that there is no guarantee that this will come to VM (not that I imagine many will be too bothered!)

Re: RT. As things stand, I think that there's more chance that RT will be removed from VM Ireland than be added to the UK service!!

South Asian channels all seem to be in a 4:3 aspect ratio, so I'm not too sure how much of am improvement HD would be. Like Rishtey Cineplex, Colors belongs to Viacom 18, so probably as much chance of Colors HD arriving on VM as Rishtey Cineplex.

Re: RT on VM Ireland.

This article (courtesy of Damian) says that RBS/NatWest have denied closing or freezing the RT bank accounts:

http://www.scotsman.com/news/politic...unts-1-4260808

Apparently, a redacted letter to a supplier of RT was used to spread this false rumour by RT. Did they really think that they would get away with this?

I don't think that, even if it were to be true, that we need any lessons from Russia about free speech.

If this is the level of 'journalism' that they are stooping to, they should be stopped from broadcasting to the UK and Ireland anyway.

..... I watch Russia Today on Freeview and I have to disagree with revoking their licence.

Even if a viewer did not know that RT was a Putin propaganda machine, they would know after a few minutes of viewing.

With the problems that exist with Russia, I think its useful to get their "take" on things, however warped they maybe. I think its important to see what the Russian people are watching everyday on their screens and what Putin is telling them and hiding from them.

So no, I don't think it should be banned but what should be banned is some of our fellow "countrymen" who appear on the channel regularly. As they clearly love Putin so much, we should invite them to live there with him and never come back here...

I wonder if it is actually the case that RT shows a mirror of Russian domestic output?

Perhaps it's tailored to the oversees audience (unless it's a simulcast of a channel that also broadcasts to Russia?)

The trouble is, its never going to give the Russian "take" on things. It isn't there to inform anyone about what Russia is doing. More to undermine and spread misinformation about the west. A mix of propaganda and divide and rule tactics.

I think it likely that nothing significant will happen before Christmas, except perhaps some new apps on the new Tivo box when it arrives.

I suspect also that we are coming to the end of the era of new channels arriving on Virgin Media. On demand material and apps are the way ahead judging by what has been coming out of Liberty Global. Content is what matters now, not channels.

Hope they give some more info about what 4K content plans they have.

Planet Earth 2 in 4K would be amazing if that becomes available on a one-off BBC channel. Would be great to showcase what the new box could do as well.

I wonder if channel 100 is now being used in a similar way to the old Guest Channel?

Cartoon Network ends at 5:59 Wednesday on channel 100, then on 31/10/16 it's TCM for the day.

My EPG only goes up until 2am on 3/12/16.

Don't forget that it's possible to record from these channels and watch the programmes after the Freeview ends.

It's only Sky channels that don't allow you to watch recorded content after you stop subscribing (or any Freeview period ends) to one of their channels.

The full version of the Exorcist is on TCM at 9pm on 31/10/16 for Halloween for anyone who wants to see it.

Edit:

Just realised that there's more on offer than what's on channel 100:

These channels will be temporarily available in all packages:

From 5 October until 4 November:

TCM
TCM HD
TCM +1
Cartoon Network
Cartoon Network +1
Cartoonito
Boomerang
Boomerang +1

From 7 October until 6 November:

Nick
Nick +1
Nick HD
Nick Jr
Nick Jr Too
Nicktoons

Effective from 1 September until 1 December

CBS Action
CBS Drama
CBS Reality
CBS Reality +1
Horror

Viacom and VM strike new carriage deal with apps

"Virgin Media customers are going to be the first to access the new Play apps released by Viacom for its MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr and Comedy Central channels.
The new multiyear agreement with Virgin Media in the UK and Ireland includes the networks, alongside new channels, catch up and boxed sets. Channel 5’s Milkshake will make its debut in November, while entertainment channel Spike will also be made available for the first time."
Not sure what they mean about Spike which is on channel 154.

Is that inside information or just what you have read from the article?

It does say:

The partnership ensures Virgin Media customers will continue to enjoy favourite networks like MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon as well as bringing new channels, additional catch up TV and box sets to Virgin Media’s TV platform.

However, they may mean 'channels' in the broader sense, or they may be referring to the additional channels on TV Anywhere.

Horror
Horror +1

It's also worth noting that True Entertainment & True Movies are now said to be available in all packages (but that it is not yet known if this is temporary or not). Does anybody know?

I am now starting to get really fed up with VM. Firstly our bill arrived today, and increase of £5.00 which is staggering. As there is nothing new with VM

We get told the same old stuff from VM. No increase in channels, and yet we 'are' told BT Sport is FREE. What a load of crap.

VM have put the prices is up to cover the cost of BT Sport.
We are told that ' we give our customers the best entertainment possible' but at what cost.

I for one does not have a bottomless pocket.

If VM are annoying you that much why not switch? SKY have decent offers on nowadays and plenty of broadband providers around who do not throttle your connection like vm do.

I honestly do not know of any company that desn't increase prices annually.

The costs got too much for me which is why i cut the cord but i have recently been given a superb offer from SKY for SKYQ but my landlord messed that up by not allowing SKY to upgrade the communal system.

VM cannot keep putting the price up

All the news outlets are reporting that AT&T is looking to buy Time Warner with a deal as soon as this weekend.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-ti...-idUSKCN12L1Y0

Although not directed related to VM, it will have knock on effects with other companies looking to consolidate. It can only be a matter of time before either John Malone joins up his various interests into a integrated company, or, someone else like Apple comes along and buys him out.

Isn't it nice to be thought of.
Yes, I am still with VM. BUT, have Sky Tv too. My wife is a VM to the core. On Sky, we just have the Basics. (that was a compromise)

As VM gave my wife a deal that she couldn't turn down. BUT, then we had an email to say the price had gone up.

Much to my wife's annoyance.

No we VM and just basics on Sky

'Made In' took it over didn't they, that's why I'm wondering if they will also take over Oxfordshire.

If Local TV does survive as a network, I can see one dominant player (apart from the STV stations) networking programmes with budget local news opt outs.

Perhaps Made Television LTD will become the Carlton/Granada of Local TV :D

I think that they would have been better quasi networking a FTA channel that's not on DTT.

Apparently, there is a Technical Difficulties' caption on air.

Facebook statement: "Due to technical difficulties our news programme is unable to broadcast. We will be back as soon as possible." Similar message on twitter.

Also, That's Lancashire is said to have been the same for the past month.

What's That's Lancashire showing on VM (if it's carried)?

None of the That's TV channels are currently carried on VM. That's Solent is in the SDT but not in the Network Information Table for any of the 68 "networks" on the ex-Telewest/ex-C&W/ex-Smallworld part of the system - and That's Solent would be on that part of the system (if it had been added) rather than the ex-NTL Langley platform.

In my assessment, that's the only model that's likely to work. There may also be scope for some locally sponsored programming, but I think that is likely to be very limited.

Local content is something the BBC does well, so no wonder it became a target. "Lets see if we can get other organisations to take it away from the BBC" was no doubt the conversation. The thing is ITV have been dropping the level of local content for years. It costs money to make programmes week after week for smaller audiences, so the commercial sector was always going to struggle even with some volunteer staff & "propping up" from the public purse.

If VM sorted out their oversubscribing they would be superb but at the moment they are the laughing stock in the broadband world.

Well i was a bit harsh to vm then tbf when i was with them i was on their 50mb and was getting around about 42mb most times, the reason i left was they throttled heavily and back then customer service were a joke.
Wether or not they've improved i don't know but VM kept demanding over £100 from me saying i owe them money which i don't, despite me proving i owe nothing they kept harping on saying i do.
It was only after a strong worded solicitors letter that VM stopped hounding me.

It's a shame that you had that experience, theone, but frankly that can happen with any company. I think BT is far worse when it comes to ripping off customers, and they get far more complaints than VM or Sky.

Maybe Made TV will buy up the rest of local TV Channels in England and Wales and become the Channel 6 like the first idea the "Media MP" has before moving to NHS England.

We have got STV Local on Channel 6 on our Freeview TV.

If Viacom wants Virgin Media UK to carry MTV Classic and Nick Jr HD so bad they can ask Virgin Media UK to drop two channels - Let say MTV Live HD and one of the less watched +1 channels.

In the past UKTV has ask Virgin to drop channels now called Eden +1 and Yesterday +1 so that channels now called W and W +1 was on Virgin from launch.

It costs money to make programmes week after week for smaller audiences, so the commercial sector was always going to struggle even with some volunteer staff & "propping up" from the public purse.

Well, London Live has asked for even less local content to be shown on its channel.

Honestly, if a local channel in London, with the Houses of Parliament in its area, cannot make local TV pay, who can?

They aren't this year.

It's a shame that you had that experience, theone, but frankly that can happen with any company. I think BT is far worse when it comes to ripping off customers, and they get far more complaints than VM or Sky.

Ofcourse mate any company can have glitches the thing that annoyed me was VM called me an outright liar, BT overcharged me too but they was very quick to correct their mistake when i contacted them about it, vm didn't want to know.
I'm pretty sure it was just sheer bad luck with vm more than anything but sadly it was enough for me to never want to return to vm in the foreseeable future.

But everyone has a difference experience I guess.

My Vivid 200 is rock solid. I have been with Telewest, VM for 20 years and never had a problem.

Just our own view - we have seen nothing from Virgin Media UK Sources to confirm if any new channels will launch as part of this deal.
