Can't wait to see if there are any new channels tomorrow. Does it matter if I have my router turned off overnight?

Sky HD boxes automatically show the HD feed if available, so all HD channels on Sky only have the one channel number. It's something people have been asking for a while to be implemented on VM.

Don't know. Just what I think should be channel numbering if any of these launch in the coming month - are you listening Virgin? You have a challenge put to you by the community - get us these channels and we will stay another 18 months!

Do any1 know if World Radio Network on 920 is new cant remmber seeing that channel

These stations were only available in ex-telewest areas. Now they're available to all.

Several years after the merger between telewest and ntl which then became vm, we now have full channel parity between the old cablecos. Didn't take them long , did it?.....:)

History and History +1 already are launched
MGM HD will very likely be a premium channel included in the Sky Movies Bundle, much like it is on Sky (also available seperatly) so will very likely appear after the Sky Movies HD channels.
If Universal HD does come it will very likely come with E! HD but a poster shunned the launch with an email from Universal saying it won't be arriving.
You missed heavily rumoured MTV Classic.

what about pop girl and true drama starting?

Tuesday and Thursday mornings are most common, but channels can launch on any day if necessary.

So 3 button presses for Home > On Demand > Music On Demand
Or 4 for 3>0>X> Red Button

Bit of a waste of time really!

We don't have any info on these yet, very likely not until next year due to a new deal with the owners, I also don't think these are top of the priority list either

However POP Girl still shows a few programmes I remember from when I was a kid, one of them being the Australian programme Mortified which i used to watch every morning before school, would be quite nice to see that again!

Not everyone uses the On Demand menus. Having a barker channel allows discoverability as it shows in the EPG.

You can always hide those channels you don't want to see. They then won't appear on the EPG:D

As far as i'm aware you can only hide the adult channels from the EPG. To do that you have to go into Parental Control settings.

I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

One of the mysteries of life, I have asked VM this pointing out the lack of apple products in their range but still can only get 'coming soon', suspect that we will see Atlantic way before android app

Mystery of life thats been explained before... Android and iOS are very different operating systems, applications are written completely differently.

When TV Anywhere launched there already was an iOS app made by Tivo available, and VM were allowed to alter it for their needs.

An Android version was only released by Tivo in January this year, its very likely that they wont have given VM access immediately and therefore VM cannot even start working on the app until this point. VM have streaming in their app which the original app does not have so requires a lot more coding and Digital Right Management Restrictions, which is difficult when there are so many different Android devices around.

Surely it doesn't matter if Android has 1 or 100 devices around, it still runs iOS be it ICS, JB or the up and coming Kit Kat version. Apple has the IPhone 3, 4, 4s, 5 and the up and coming 5s. What's the difference? :erm:

Nope, this is how android has always been. The same operating system runs mobile and tablet version and all the multiple phone screen sizes and hardware.

With iOS on Apple devices the OS is formatted for screen types, so if you have a phone sized app on an iPad it will format it correctly, and original iPhone screen sized app on an iPhone 5 add borders to the top and bottom.

odd times this. we usually get sky vs virgin media arguments but now we're getting android vs ios arguments.

the truth is its easier to create stuff for ios as its only for one type of phone. android is for many different types of phones. that's why. why it takes so long I don't know but that's the answer in a nut shell. it isn't a conspiracy for apple or anything.

The workaround would be to use Favourites to exclude the channels you don't want displayed.
I don't find filtering a great problem as VM still has channels in broadly defined ranges (Entertainment 101 - 199, Documentary 201 - 299, etc) and we don't have anything like the amount of crap channels Sky customers have to pick through. Also, on the TiVo you can limit the Guide to certain categories: I use the HD filter all the time.

Different handsets have different screen sizes and ratios meaning an app might look good on one phone but not on another, and also different handsets are running different versions of android whilst apple have only just stopped updating the I phone 3, I think (?), so the majority of their handsets are on the same os (6 or 7?) and there are only a couple of different screen sizes to worry about.

There are problems with android, hopefully the forthcoming kitkat update, apparently "for all" will resolve some of these issues. However, there is a TiVo app for android, it has been available for some time and Virgin, issues with android aside, really have no excuse, it's poor from them.

I would love to see an new Entertainment channel launching on Virgin Media just to see where Virgin will put it.

I mean with Horror Channel +1 now added on the final Entertainment channel number (Channel 202).

Will Virgin just use up all the channels that do not broadcast anything*?
Or Will Virgin have an Entertainment over spill at Virgin Channels 360 to 398?

*Channels not in use are: 119, 120, 141, 159, 161, 162, 163, 164, 179, 185, 186 and 199.

Only two channels has been confirmed or rumoured as soon to be in uses.

159. For all Local TV Channels - if they want to launch on Virgin (Confirmed by London Live owner).
199. FOX + - rumoured as set to launch soon on Virgin Media.

This is slightly off topic but after the posts earlier about TV anytime on Android this may be of interest to Android users regarding the update to the BBC iPlayer app which now allows you to download to your device. Got it on my S3 and works well

Spot on Andy , to be fair Its not just VM Sky have had Android Sky Go users unhappy for sometime so much so their Managing Director of Product Design & Development on Sky Go issued a response to the Sky user forum which is a good read and explains android development issues.

Not really rumoured, it appeared on 199 on the TV Anywhere listings, I would say that it is confirmed.

141 could be used when Channel 4+1 HD launched. Move 4+1 SD to 141 then put the HD version where the SD one currently is.

Im going to guess 161, 162, & 163 will be reserved for BBC Two HD to move to 161, BBC Three HD on 162 and BBC Four HD on 163.

Im thinking VM will also save 119, 120, and probably 185 & 186 for Sky. Atlantic (if it ever launches) goes on 119 & 120 and Sky Bravo (if it launches and doesnt close Sky 2) could go on 185/186 or swap with Challenge

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 4.

@ocav

Base on that I now think the following may happen:

141. Channel 4 HD
142. Channel 4 +1
143. E4
144. E4 +1
145. E4 HD
146. More 4
147. More4 +1 or More4 HD
196. More4 HD (If More4 +1 moves to channel 147)
161. BBC Alba
162. BBC Two HD
163. BBC Three HD
164. BBC Four HD
179. Pick TV
180. Pick TV +1

All info on this post are just rumours and has not been confirmed by Virgin Media in anyway.

It's coming. Won't be long until HD is the standard. Some interesting figures from Ofcom:

http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/mar...reland/ni-2.03

73% of UK homes have a HD TV. Those figures where published at the beginning of 2013. I'm sure I read something recently which confirmed we are now sitting at about 76% homes HD ready. 3% growth in just 8 months.

Virtually all new TV's sold are HD ready. Give it another 3 to 5 years and almost every home will have a HD TV. For those who chose not to adopt HD, I'm sure some kind of SD Freeview service will linger on behind the scenes.

The usual speculation. Seems there is a new rumour every week just prior to a Thursday.

The main suggestion is that SKY and Virgin are on the brink or agreeing a new carriage agreement.

Sky have decided to stop referring to their channels in HD all of a sudden. Basically how they would always pronounce the channel with the HD at the end. Could this beva sign of a potential deal.

Would love to see SS3 and SS4 and F1 in HD. Frustrating having not all of the US Open, F1 and NFL in HD.

By the way just seen that British Eurosport have signed a 2 year deal to show the MNF from the NFL. Good to have that in HD again.

Nope, OFCOM ruled that they were not making consumers aware that the content was also available in SD also and they have to change to "also in HD" or "Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 1 HD" for example

Don't think there is any official info available but OFCOM received 1 complaint about it and they forced sky to stop referring to channels as HD IE this weekend on sky sports 1 HD. It makes sense as not everyone has HD channels

I think we will see a few launches this week, or if not launches, announcements of big things.

I do think the Sky channels are more likely now than 12 months ago, sky will think about money and if VM throw up the cash for them, they won't refuse then Sky get your money no matter who you go with. It's still cheaper to be with Sky if you want the premium channels though.

I'm just glad I will get to see my team get beaten by Somerset in glorious HD later as it is on SS2.

When we first heard it was just 1 & 2 in HD I was outraged but in reality it's not been missed all that often. I wonder what the viewing figures for 3 & 4 are in comparison?

Notts will beat somerset quite easily, quite rare top end sport is on 3 and 4 to be honest. Apart from champions league
