Like all businesses, however, these decisions and discussions are based on commercial factors and currently we have not been able to form a deal with Virgin for an HD version of Universal Channel. It’s great to know you would like to see an HD version of the channel on Virgin. Please do write to them also and let them know!

If they wait till it launches then there is a very likely chance it is included in XL, otherwise they would be promoting it before hand for you to sign up at £12 a month!

Also, the Sky Atlantic tweet confirms nothing. The Twitter team havent heard anything about BT, they've been told to tell people they are in talks to avoid loosing customers, they wont have been told if they are in talks with Sky, so therefore "no plans to launch sky atlantic at the minute" is all they know.

It's unlikely BT Sport will be offered free of charge - BT and Virgin Media are competitors, after all - but it's possible the channels could be bundled in with the Sky Sports, currently available on Virgin Media from £15.50 per month.

Erm except that didn't "sum it up" nicely at all mate. Not at all. Saying why don't Virgin just get ESPN, as that would be alright over BT Sports is not true because 99.999% of people want it for the Premier League. Just because about 5 American Football saddos would be delighted with that outcome doesn't mean it would be a good decision to not get BT Sports.

Say Virgin got to keep ESPN but didn't get BT Sport. Great! we've got sport!!!! lovely sport. fantastic. now, when's the match kicking off!? oh, right.

99.999% of people left unable to watch the Premier League, England is a football country and we want our football, so therefore acquiring ESPN would be a waste of time and money on its own and would provide zero consolation for not getting BT Sport.

Any "proper" football fan won't give a damn about BT Sports as with their early Saturday KO times they'll be on the way to watch their team in action. There are games played the length and breadth of England every Saturday that don't appear on any TV channel!

1, It takes me 20 minutes to get a lift to my local team, which is the team i support, so that is incorrect. I can easily watch most of a 12.45 and get to the match.

2, I am number 12,900-odd on my club's season ticket waiting list. and every premier league match sells out at my local team. so it's not like i can go every week. and my team also play away every 2 weeks, and i sure as hell don't/can't travel away as the demand for that is a closed shop.

so, yknow, cheers and all. but you're wrong.

this isn't about watching just my own team either i am somebody who watches every match.

i will be getting BT Sport either way as I have a sky freesat box. I'll subscribe before the season kicks off one way or the other. but i want it on Virgin, and want other Virgin subscribers to get it too.

I'm a Liverpool fan and the same applies to me.

we are on TV 9 times in the first 13 matches. inc the first game. None of those can be 3pm Saturday.

3 times on BT Sport including the sodding merseyside derby away at Goodison. so i need the channel.

It's the smart arses that do my head in to be honest. With stupid arguments like that one put forth to me.
