It's hard for Sunderland though. Who would take the job? It's like Newcastle to be fair, anyone that has the balls to take the job deserves a medal. Being a manager in the north east is a way to end your career.

don't think Miliband really wanted to be there to be honest and Di Canio was the excuse he needed to leave as he had American job lined up before all that I was shocked as anyone when the owner picked Di Canio as manager we where certain to go down if we kept O'Neill glad Di Canio kept us up but was never gonna work long term hope owner can pick right man this time for once

Club announces latest financial results
23 Sep 2013
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-arc...ancial-results

Arsenal Holdings plc has announced its financial results for the year ended May 31, 2013:
  • Group profit before tax was £6.7 million (2012 - £36.6 million)
  • Profit on sale of player registrations amounted to £47.0 million (2012 - £65.5 million)
  • One-off charges related to the impairment of certain player registrations and associated costs amounted to £10.0 million (2012 - £5.5 million)
  • £58.7 million of investment in new players and extended contracts pushed amortisation charges up to £41.3 million (2012 - £36.8 million)
  • Turnover from football increased to £242.8 million (2012 - £235.3 million) driven mainly by commercial activity including the Club’s extended partnership with Emirates
  • Taking account of increased costs, principally wage costs, operating profits (before depreciation and player trading) from football decreased to £25.2 million (2012 - £32.3 million)
  • Property revenue rose to £37.5 million (2012 - £7.7 million) inclusive of the sale of the market housing site at Queensland Road. However, the Queensland Road sale was essentially at break even in profit and loss terms. Overall operating profits from property increased to £4.4 million (2012 - £2.2 million)
  • The Group has no short-term debt and continues to have a robust financial platform from cash reserves, excluding the balances designated as debt service reserves, of £119.7 million (2012 - £120.1 million)

Commenting on the results for the year the Club’s chairman, Sir Chips Keswick, said: “It is my job to ensure we steer further along the course we have set. "We must continue to grow commercially to provide the Club with the best opportunity to achieve success and we must do this in a way which remains true to our values and which ensures and protects the long-term sustainability of the Club. We face a competitive landscape across the top of the Premier League and across Europe’s elite clubs which is tougher than ever. Despite fair play initiatives the financial competition for top players remains intense and transfer prices and player wages continue to move ever higher. It is therefore positive that the strong financial platform we have created in recent years allows us to continue to be competitive at the highest level.”

If someone like Suarez, Barton or Keano had said this they'd all be serving 10 game bans and the media would run with it for half a year. I'd bet my savings he'd say it to neither of them either. Returning a tackle is one thing but saying you're going to blind someone is another.

Suarez gets thrown to the dogs for racially abusing a player but Flamini is praised for threatening to blind someone. Welcome to the Premier League eh.

No they wouldn't be banned. What makes you think Suarez and Barton are selected for special treatment. Suarez racially abused someone and bit someone, Barton kept punching people and Keane often attempted in intimidate his opponents as did Vieira.

I doubt Flamini actually said anything specific. Probably let the player know if he went on late and hard on Wilshere again then he would do the same back.

He's deciding on wether to take the job, apparently. Bad choice imo, that club has been a shambles from top to bottom for a while and it'll take some one with experience as a manager to put it right from top to bottom, not a head coach as the senior executives at the club have shown they aren't up to it, sure Poyet might do a good job but it'll just be papering over the cracks if they go down this route.

League is more important. I don't think our squad has the depth to challenge for four competitions and so this is the one to be less concerned about. Even if that team somehow manages to beat West Brom we'll have to face a harder team eventually.

Yup.

Seriously though we don't have the squad depth. Chelsea can put out a very decent 2nd string, they pretty much have two teams. So we'll either have to play our first team or simply capitulate. We have a difficult Champions League group and a very tough fight for the top four positions.

I think we have an excellent first eleven and some depth in midfield. We're lacking upfront and in defence so we won't win this cup or we have to commit our first team to it.

Just got in from Old Trafford, cracking atmosphere, decent game but still giving the ball away far to often, Suarez way off the pace ATM.

Rooney and Jones played very well.

Premier League: Liverpool ready to offer striker Luis Suarez new deal in summer

The Anfield supremo admitted Suarez's latest ban had hurt the global image of the club but that he and the player were keen to draw a line under it. Of course, any types of incident of that nature are damaging to a brand, but Liverpool Football Club is way, way bigger and always will be way bigger than any one player or one individual," Ayre added. "Luis is a street fighter and we had to deal with it. We've worked a lot with him since the Ivanovic incident and he's back to what he's best at - terrorising defenders. We all move on together. Hard work and lessons have been learnt post-Evra and we now have a process in place for any crisis. Not a Suarez crisis, just any one."

http://www1.skysports.com/football/n...deal-in-summer
is he for real. it was Liverpool who damaged themselves not Suarez. being in denial etc. etc.

a big club would have a "process" from the get go.

Newcastle seem to have no desire for the league cup. Typical for a team that's hyped as having this big and loyal fan base with a world class stadium. Media hype in a nutshell. Reality says we were an overspending team on the brink of financial meltdown had we kept pretending we could compete with the top 4. Sure you have the 90s but that was solely down to us having our pick of the best players in that era.

Basically another year Alan Pardew talks about silverware but then sends out a reserve team against City and fobs it off like it's unimportant...like we're Man United or something.

It's about time someone told Owen he was an overrated piece of crap. When compared to the likes of Henry, Bergkamp, Shearer, Rooney and co. Michael Owen was a Micky mouse striker that left his balls at Liverpool. Of course he's English though so he'll be tagged with legendary status and be made pundit of some horse channel.

I see Chelsea fans are complaining again -what is wrong with you lot. Mike Dean lost control of this game and the Chelsea players started their usual nasty fouls, and Torres was the worst offender.

He should have been sent off for violent conduct against Vertonghen for scratching his face.

It would not surprise me if the FA look at video evidence and hit him with a ban.

And then Mourinho has started doing a Wenger and complaining about the ref. Chelsea cannot get away with the fouls they produce with a nasty Chelsea who simply don't like losing.

It was a good game apart from the nasty fouls and Dean losing control half way through.

Yes l am a Spurs fan and also a referee.

1. They didn't lose.
2. Your star went down holding his head like a little girl.
3. Tottenham are quickly becoming the worst offenders in the league for diving.
4. If a spurs player had been sent off today for the same thing this board wouldn't hear the last of it and you'd be calling for bans so please pipe down.
5. Your whole post is you doing as you described it a 'Wenger'

Oh and try not to forget the awkward moment a spurs foul led to a Chelsea goal...
Do also explain your logic in the whole chelsea don't like to lose so they go in hard and get men sent off. You somehow understand that logic but I'm failing to see how it would help chelsea.

The only point i agree on is that Torres was lucky when he was first booked. But "Their usual nasty fouls" and "Nasty Chelsea"? Behave. And if anyone likes losing then they shouldn't be playing. If you're gonna be silly then I'll bring up the spirit of Bale remaining with Townsend diving and Vertonghens non existent head injury which got Torres sent off. Yes I am a Chelsea fan and I don't need to be a referee to see those incidents today

Let's move onto something a little more interesting. United lost to WBA. I think we all had that feeling it would be rough for Moyes but after seeing RVP start on the bench I'm left wondering what happens next.

I take nothing away from WBA but it's a game in which United have no excuse for losing.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Not sure that so many changes from game to game helps, fans still seem to be 100% behind Moyes but frustrated at the apparent lax application of some players. There seemed to be an 'it's only West Brom ' mentality today.

Jones was half asleep most of the game, Evans and Ferdinand not on the same wavelength. Nani had some nice touches but only put a couple of decent crosses in. Kagawa is a bit lightweight and Anderson is like a headless chicken at times. Hernandez, much as I like him does seem to be an impact /super sub player. Rooney once again ran his socks off from end to end but needs a fully fit RVP to get the best out of him.

Young Januzaj is a real class act and needs to be introduced a lot earlier in games.

My starting 11 ATM would be De Gea, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Raphael, Carrick, Fellaini, Januzaj, Rooney, Va Persie, and Valencia or possibly give Saha a run out.

When Madrid actually build a proper team. Something that takes years of course then I can see them returning to past glory but at present they just throw money at anything and expect the big one.

You can spend money, and still get team. Rubbish about having to build..yada yada

But work ethic is important, doesn't matter if they are there for 1 month, or 1 year

If building a team was that important..we would have thousands like that.

As to this year in the premier league. The lesson I am getting, is that early in the season, you need your best team for all games. There are no easy games.

Whether it continues who knows, but loving it :D

I think people are overreacting to United. They should expect a slightly difficult transition and we're only a few games into the season. Obviously they're underperforming but it's also overlooked the poor state of the squad that Moyes has inherited, I maintain their midfield is one of the weakest of the top sides in the league.
